Randall had finished his bowl of stew by the time Key walked out of the tent, and so he quickly stood up so they could get moving. But he was a bit taken back when she got up on her wolf and took off all of a sudden without even speaking to him. He blinked a few times in wonder before taking off after her, following the trail she left behind until he easily caught up to her and walked along side with her back through the forest. "So, I'm guessing that went well them hm?" Then again when did anything go well at all? They were at war of course.

"Di'ania Alise Medre." One of the Sisters of the Woods called out into the practice field.

"Oh s**t..." Di'a muttered, her whole name, she wondered what the sisters had found she had done now. It was not matter of what she had done... simply of which incident they had discovered, "Comming Sister Alida..." she said grabbing her sesera case and wrapping her blade as she ran to answer her summons.

Alida smiled at Di'a, "You are actually not in trouble in case you were worried..."

Di'a smiled in relief, "Why would I be worried about that Sister?"

"MmmHm..." Alida said, "I thought that might just have been a guilty concious peaking through... Care to confess?"

Di'a batted her long black lashes, "Confessions are reserved for the Revered Mother..."

Alida laughed, "Good... becuase that is who you were summoned by... you can tell her during your audience..."

Di'a bit her lip against asking why she was summoned, Alida said she wasn't in trouble and if Alida had known she would have said, so it must be a private matter. And that worried Di'a more then being in trouble.

"Di'ania... we are here..." Alida said trying to bring Di'a out of her thoughts.

Di'a took a deep breath and let it out, before walking through the simple wood door into the Revered Mother's office. "Good Morning, Revered Mother..." Di'a said touching her forehead to the floor before rising back up to a kneeling position.

The Revered Mother walked over and lifted Di'a's chin to look at her before taking the younger girl's hands and helping her to her feet, "Not today my little one..." The Revered Mother said her voice a blend of many subtle emotions, "Today you are no less imprtant then I..."

Di'a's eyes studied the woman who had taken her in and nursed her as a baby, but had always been an exhaulted personage. "Revered Mother... what... what is it?" she asked becoming worried.

"I have seen what is to become of you my child..." she said sadly, "And to do so the time has come for you to leave us..." Before Di'a recovered from her shock the Revered Mother had already begun to answer the question in Di'a's eyes, "When you were found I was given a sign that you would be more then just another Sister... I thought at first that you would be Mother after me... but as I prayed this morning I was told that I must set you on your path... A path that will send you from this place..."

"But why me?" Di'a asked sounding a bit lost.

The Revered Mother smiled, "It is because of what you are my child... your birth is unknown... on that battle field, lay peasants trying to flee desperate lives, young noble women being sent here to be kept safe in the growing dangers of this world... Elves and humans... you are kin to all and yet tied to none." The Revered Mother helped Di'a to sit in a chair, "And living here as you have you are pure in a way those soaked in the blood and perceptions of the battling faction are not... You are a new pair of eyes... And you are strong... stronger then most..."

"But Mother..." Di'a said her voice plantive, "I do not know anything of the outside world..."

"All the more reason for you to go and learn..." The Revered Mother said her tone becoming more firm. "Preperation are being made for you... say your goodbyes and you will leave at sundown..."

Di'a recognized the Revered Mother's tone and bowed her head, "Yes, Revered Mother..." Di'a bowed and left still in shock.

After the door shut the Revered Mother allowed a few tears she had held back to flow from her eyes, "Great Spirit... you asked for the life of my dearest daughter to your service... please... please protect her..."

-------------------

Di'a started her rounds and saying goodbye to the only family she had ever known.

"No, I'm not done yet. Learn some patience Shae. While you pick out all the fun shiny and sharp things, I'm looking for more practical things that I can put to use. You know, the exact reason why you're not often recommended to have such fun as this as I regularly do?" Pushing her buttong was fun. "They won't come back till morning anyway, if they come back. Stop fussing and pick up your things."

The path she had chosen she continued to follow. No army needed her to play to their whims under false pretenses. No more noble than any other, despite what sword or otherwise may say. It was just a fancy trinket these days to most. Perhaps he would mean something if he didn't burden himself with armies and the like. Though she was quite surprised when she found herself yet again in company of the human she had left behind. Funny, she assumed he would stay there where she left him. Apparently not so...and apprently he was keen on following after her. "No. It did not. He wanted nothing more than information for a war that will grant him no path forward. But he will not see that, nor will his betters."

Randall looked back in the direction of the camp and he was in through for awhile before he brought himself back out of it and focused his attention to Key. "Well if that's the case then it is better to cut ties so to speak and move on." And Randall wanted nothing more than to cut ties anyway. Even if the army were to return home either sooner or later, he rather get back home on his own and work his way from there, though at the moment he was good where he was. "Since I know the answer may be something that includes the wind, what are you going to do next?"

Yes...he was indeed following her. And she found this quite peculiar indeed. Sure, he may not want to stay with those humans but he was free and able to go wherever he pleased...why was he still following her? "See what I can do to make life a little easier and do what is asks of people." Watching him again, continuing at the brisk pace she was that let her keep up with the long stride of the walking wolf. Travel would be slow until that back leg recovered. "Are you following me?"

He came across teh convent of the sisters in the later part of the day, the sun just starting it's descent along the sky. It was out of the way, but not overly so. besides a warm meal and an actual bed for an evening after who knows how many weeks and months of cots and travel rations for the most part would be most appreciated. Not to mention his horse could probably use some looking after with all the travel between camps and stations. Wouldn't want him to end up lame.

So that was teh path he took.to lead his horse there for some much desired rest, food, and to make sure his horse was going to make the rest of the trip to the capitol.

"Ah." So he was wrong then, well it wouldn't be the first time he was wrong, which lead to some situations where he got out of them by the skin of his teeth so to speak. But when Key asked the question as to why he was following her it made Randall think for a moment as to the real reason to why he was. After thinking for awhile he looked to Key and simply said, "I've got no where else to go, going home is my priority but right now it will be very hard to even go by myself, if I go with the army they will either brand me as a traitor or pull me back into their ranks again. As I see it, you're the only good thing around these parts and the best person to be with, when I have a better chance, I'll leave."

The tug at the corners of her mouth that pulled her lips into a smile told how amused she was by that fact. "So...you think it better to travel in a pack with someone else, than alone and trying to best the world on your own?" She turned her attention back to the path ahead that was opening into plains. "If you can keep up, you can stay...though you might want to get very good, very fast, at catching squirrels." This was going to be interesting...besides if he couldn't keep up she'd just leave him.

Randall blinked as he saw that small smile that appeared on Key's lips, he then thought that he really did make her smile or that she came to the realization of something he did not know about and suddenly he was a bit freaked out by that smile. "With the way things are now, yes, it is better to stick with someone for the time being." And since they were both on the same side, which was no side for that matter, then Randall knew he could trust Key somewhat. Though he blinked as they suddenly left the woods and came to an area that was made out of plains. "Well we'll see how long that'll take." Randall had the skills to catch the little critters, they were just gonna be a pain really.

So as they walked Randall looked around the flat area and raised an eyebrow, he expected to live in the forest. "I'm guessing we'll be here for the night then huh?"

Scoffing, she moved towards him and rolled her eyes. "Yes, because this is so valuable." Lifting up the leather gauntlet he'd picked up and tossing it aside. "We have plenty of those. What good is it?" Reaching into her skirt, she removed an amulet that twinkled in the sun. "Now this, this we can do something with. It's elven and you know what that means." Rolling her fingers over the chain gently.

(Thanks Shadow. I needed an entrence.)

Di'a perched on the edge of the fence that encircled one of the practice fields where a small girl no more then nine years old was spinning a bladed staff almost as big as she was in wickedly fast circles on either side of her body both a defense and an offense. She made a sudden strike and drew her blade back sharply to spin tightly on a single foot before landing with a yell in the opposite direction with another strike. "Beautiful, Marie... absolutely beautiful..." she said a warm smile on her lips.

Marie rushed over to Di'a holding her stick aside as she embraced her teacher tears in her eyes, "Do you really have to do Di'a?"

Di'a held the tiny girl tightly, "My path lies else where... there are more to teach then just you, little one... And you are getting so good you hardly need me anymore." Di'a said her voice betraying none of the uncertainity she herself felt.

"What is that?" Marie asked pulling back for moment to hear better.

Di'a perked her ears and noted the distinct sound of hoofbeats, "A traveler... coming this way..." Di'a smiled down at Marie, "Go on ahead to the convent and tell them to prepare for a guest... I'll go greet her..." She took Marie's sesera, "Now go quick... I'll bring this back for you..."

Marie nodded and took off like a light through the forest.

Di'a grabbed her sesera and it's case as well, she began walking in the direction of the sound of hoofbeats as she wrapped Marie's sesera and slung it over her back before beginning to wrap her own. The leather was shaped in the form of the blade and lined with a thick fiber that kept the blade from weathering and was difficult to cut though so the blade would not destory the case from the inside, "Welcome, I greet you in the name of the Sisters of the Lady of the Wood..." Di'a called as she saw the head of a horse over the rise. She deftly finished the ties and held her sesera as a walking stick as she waited for the traveler to reach her.

"Careful, squirrels are cranky." Reaching over and petting at the giant wolf that was meandering along with them. "She gets cranky without her squirrels." Chuckling at that but turning a look on him as he questioned. "Why would we need to stop? All that does is waste time, does it not? We rested earlier. Are you not ready for such a journey?"

"It's not what it is, but what it is made of that is important. This is what you lack sight of." He shared her habit of rolling eyes, especially when she got all endeared over shiny things. Women and their shiny things, pfft. "Either it's expensive or has magic to it. I personally would melt it down." Throwing things into a canvas bag, he slung it over his shoulder and walked over to her, poking her in the forhead hard enough to tip her some. "Assana is right, no lick of sense."

"Melt it down?!" Shaking her head and then slipping her head through the chain and letting it rest gently. "You can't melt something like this down. It's expensive and it's magical. It's...special. I can feel it. And you would be able to if you weren't so set on picking up the boring stuff we all have plenty of. No respect for the finer things in life, Orre." She massaged the spot he poked and crossed her arms then shoved him just because even as her bow mouth turned down. "Asanna doesn't understand just like you don't. I just know these things."

"Noted on both accounts there." Though Randall did have a few encounters with squirrels before, so he had to agree with Key's logic on the animals, damn fuzzy things were always twitchy. Though he looked to her and blinked when she looked back at him and questioned his question. "Oh, well I thought with the time of day and the area we would be stopping. If we're not going to stop then I don't mind going on for awhile." Randall didn't want to be seen as lazy, but luckily for him the army trained him not to be so he had that be thankful for at least in some way.

He came up along the path, hearing the greetings and giving a slight grin. Sisters of the Lady of the Wood. he wondered if any of them knew who the 'Lady of the Wood' was. He certainly didn't.

"Well met, young Sister. I do hope you don't mind an old and traveled soldier in your midst?"

it was no secret that the Sisters convent was not a place of warfare or conflict. despite the two weapons that girl was carrying.

"I am seeking little more then food, shelter, and care for my horse. I have no desire to bring any troubles with me, or trouble you with my presence if it proves unwanted."
