Tsuki snorted and pulled at the reins, but the king held the horse still with a simple jerk of his hand. The black stallion was obviously perturbed by something, but what was it? Reiba's first guess was Shanya, but he quickly voted against it. Tsuki had never been tense around new people, which is why Reiba chose her as his horse.

A figure dashing up toward the stables screaming his name gave Reiba the answer. Kitsuma was coming, screaming profanities at the king. Tsuki had always hated Kitsuma and his wife, but she enjoyed having Shitsuma around. It was puzzling, but it made perfect sense. The council member and his wife were probably the most hated nobilities throughout the land, while Shitsuma was well liked in the slave business.

"Where the ---- have you been?!" Kitsuma screamed, grabbing Reiba by the sleeve. Tsuki stood up on her back legs, but Reiba calmed her instantly by another harsh tug on the reins. "Everybody has been looking for you everywhere!"

"I'm right here, isn't it obvious?" Reiba replied, his smooth voice calm and even, even though he was just as tense as the horse. "Back off, before I call Raziel to slice your head off and feed it to the dogs." The king said harshly, grabbing The council member's arm and flipping him over the railing. "Shanya," Reiba said quietly, "Please take Tsuki to the stable. There's somebody there who will help you." He said, hopping the fence and walking away, leaving the council member alone in the pasture.

Shanya led Tsuki toward the stables, though he kept a cautious eye on Kitsuma. He didn't like the aura the council member was giving off. In fact, he didn't like anything about the man. Raziel did tell him not to ever trust that man, after all.

After finally deciding that Kitsuma wasn't going to do anything, Shanya turned his gaze toward Tsuki. He felt the urge to pet the horse, but he immediately decided against it. He can't pet the king's horse without permission. There was no way he would just go ahead and pet Tsuki freely no matter how much he wanted to pet the horse. Besides, maybe it wouldn't allow him to pet it anyway.

However, Shanya just couldn't resist the urge and before he knew it he was petting Tsuki. Panic ran over him and he forced his hand away and took a few steps, small steps, away from the horse. He didn't know what he should do now, but he did know that he had done something wrong. What would the king say if he was here?

Tsuki nudged Shanya in the cheek, prodding him to pet her. Kitsuma stirred on the ground slightly, but not very much. He wasn't even close to waking up, which calmed Tsuki down a bit. She hated him; he had the nerve to punch Reiba in the stomach right in front of her.

"Wow... Tsuki actually allowed you to pet her." A voice muttered quietly. A boy with blonde hair and striking blue eyes was walking out from the stables. "You must be Shanya, the new guy. I'm Miyabi, the stablehand." He said cheerfully, wiping some dirt off of his cheek.

Shanya turned to look at the voice's owner. "Nice to meet you, Miyabi," he said, reaching out a hand in a way that he saw people on the streets do. Usually he would see the second person reach for the hand and both people would be moving their arms up and down, though he didn't know why. It seemed to be a greeting of some sort.

A curiosity settled in him, particularly about Tsuki. "So, why do you sound kinda surprised or something about Tsuki letting me pet her? Does she not let many people do that?" Shanya asked. He felt somewhat relieved and fortunate that Tsuki didn't object or react negatively when he pet her. In fact, she seemed a little content or something.

Miyabi took Shanya's hand and shook it warmly. "Likewise." He replied, looking up at Tsuki. "Well, to tell you the truth, Tsuki is just like his majesty. They'll interact with you, but they won't let you touch them or get near. He only lets my sister Leila get close to him. Which is kind of mean, since he'll only let me near if I'm with Leila." He said with a sigh, looking wistfully at the black stallion near the end of the pasture.

"Same's with Tsuki. Won't let anybody besides Reiba- I mean... his majesty touch her. You're one lucky kid. I was watching you from the stable. They both seem very comfortable around you, which is odd, since you only got here what... an hour ago?" He asked, pulling out a block of sugar for Tsuki. The horse immediately looked away, not getting any closer to Miyabi. "Just as I thought... here." He said, handing the block to Shanya. "You try."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 03, 2010 5:10 pm

Shanya nodded and he took the cube of sugar, holding it out to Tsuki to see if she would approach. He was pretty sure he knew the reason why both Tsuki and the king were comfortable around him. Well, actually he was only sure he knew the reason why Tsuki didn't mind him being near her was because he was near the king. Perhaps the king didn't mind Shanya being near because of the lost childhood that Shanya still couldn't remember.

It really bothered him. Was his memory truly erased by a wizard? Or was the king making up an excuse for being so nice to him? Sure, he can trust the king, but he was betrayed by him, right? Wait, it was because he didn't have a choice. So Shanya should blame the Council? They were the ones who brought Shanya into his miserable life, after all.

"This is so confusing," Shanya muttered to himself, hoping that nobody heard.

The horse immediately gobbled the sugar cube up, whinnying a bit before finally snorting. Miyabi laughed a bit, handing Shanya a bag of some sort.

"It's filled with sugar. Tsuki likes 'em that way, you know?" He said, as he began leading Shanya toward the stable. "Hurry up... before Sir. Stupidity wakes up and begins to yell at us for dawdling." He whispered quietly, ignoring whatever Shanya had said about something being confusing.

PostPosted: Sun Jan 03, 2010 8:07 pm

Shanya followed Miyabi to the stables, looking behind him to make sure that Tsuki was following. Sometimes he would hold out a sugar cube just in case she wasn't moving from her spot, though he felt that he didn't need to be so worried about that. Maybe he held out sugar cubes because he liked the delightful feeling of Tsuki gobbling them from his hand.

It was still very hard to believe that the horse would trust Shanya, who was pretty new to the castle, when she didn't seem to trust Miyabi, who must have been a stablehand for quite a while. Well, like he thought before, it was most likely that Tsuki trusted Shanya because the king trusted him. Both horse and master were pretty much alike, so he heard from Miyabi.

As they entered the stables, almost all of the horses turned toward the entrance. Miyabi went about, introducing every single horse to Shanya. Chidori, Hinata, Toriniku (because the horse was scared of everything), Shizuka, Manabu, Nana, and Shiro.

"This one here, Shiro, he is just as bad as Kumori. Won't let anybody near him except for his majesty and the king before him. They're brothers, so it's understandable." He sighed, tossing a sugar cube up in the air. The pure white stallion caught it, glad that it was being fed a treat.

(Okay. Thanks.)

Shanya was amazed at how many different horses there were in the stables. So he would have to take care of some, if not all, of them? It would seem hard at first sight, but it may not be as difficult as he would think, right? The horses were most likely well-mannered, since they're in the royal stables.

"So, two brothers are kinda alike, right?" Shanya asked. "Who's horse is Shiro, anyway? Is he also the former king's horse?" Well, he definitely hoped that Shiro didn't belong to Kitsuma. The stallion didn't look like it would like being that council member's steed.

"Actually.... Shiro is Lady Rima's horse. She's His majesty's mother. So much like his former majesty, I must admit. Kind, gentle-hearted, but not open towards many people in the Royal Court." Miyabi smiled. "It's strange. After Lady Rima died, Shiro became closed towards almost everybody. It's almost as if Lady Rima's death killed apart of Shiro as well." He sighed, moving along.

"The most open one here is Hinata and Chidori. The children come here sometimes to play with them." Miyabi said, patting the two horses. "They're sisters." He added with a grin.

Shanya didn't look away from Shiro. For some reason his heart seemed to ache as if he was feeling the horse's pain. Reluctantly, he walked over to where Miyabi was patting two apparently cheerful horses. Sisters, huh? No wonder they seemed alike.

Though he knew he probably shouldn't ask, the words just came out of Shanya's mouth as if they had hearts of their own. "So, what caused the former queen's death? Or what do you think caused it?" he asked. It definitely wasn't the wisest, but it was probably a terrible, question to ask, but strangely he thought it may be useful to know.

Miyabi thought back a bit, pausing his petting of the horses to think. He wasn't really sure what had caused her death. Had it been exactly what the rumors had been, or had the autopsy got it all wrong? Hopefully it wasn't the latter.

"They say she was poisoned, then stabbed repeatedly in the chest several times." Miyabi said quietly. "The former king was under investigation, but he had a solid alibi. Besides, he loved her. But then, his majesty, the present one, came forth saying that he knew who had killed her. Said it was himself, that he was the one who did it. Everybody was in shock, but we all later found out that the stab wounds caused her death, and his majesty was only 10 at the time, barely able to handle the sword to that brought her death. Nobody knows for sure anymore." He finished. The entire stable seemed to go silent.

"So she was murdered? But what did she do to the murderers?!" Shanya asked, shocked. "Weren't there any other suspects besides the former king? A crime that terrible shouldn't be left alone so easily." For some reason, he had some idea who the murderer may be, but he may be wrong.

The queen's death must have confused and grieved so many in the kingdom, right? Not only Shiro or the former king? Who in the world would kill such a kind woman? There he goes again, with so many questions just scrambling in his mind. Shanya had always been one to have so many questions, but this was something that seemed to spark the most. Why? He might as well ask the king when he meets up with him again. Perhaps they can figure out who the murderer is, though the mystery was probably long dead.

"Uh... yeah. There was a lot of suspects. Everybody in the entire palace actually. Captain Raziel was under arrest for her murder, but his majesty - the present one - somehow got him out. Pointed them towards the former captain before Raziel, Captain Tatsuko. Guy pleaded guilty. So yeah... Captain Tatsuko killed Lady Rima. End of story." He said, shrugging his shoulders. "Just a guess though, you're going to have to ask somebody with power. Like his majesty, or-"

"Me!" Kitsuma finished, literally growing red from the stable doors. Every single one of the horses went into a frenzy, moving around in the pen when the Council member stormed past them. "Miyabi, quit telling stories! This guy is on the ropes as is, and you don't want him to get killed, do you?" He hissed, smoke coming out of his ears.

"Kitsuma... leave them alone." Reiba ordered from the opposite end of the stable. Apparently the king had made a U-turn and had come back into the stable for something. It was a saddle. "By the way, you are needed in the main hall. Go now." He ordered, following a schizo looking Kitsuma out of the stables. "Forgive him. Please carry on. " He smiled, then turned toward Miyabi. "I'm taking Kumori, so don't worry if you don't see him." He said before he disappeared.
