Actually if your into Japanese Horror (I feel this is technically a genera in itself, since its completely different from American Horror) I have another title that I could recommend. The Locker (Shibuya Kaidan 1 & 2) were very scary again in a thriller horror sort of way. Their is a legend about a woman that was rapped and she put the baby into a coin operated locker and then committed suicide. The movie picks up from people that come into contact with this locker and are cursed by the spirit of the baby from the locker. Again, its scary in a subtle way and eery way that has moments of nothing and then just makes you jump. However, I think that the best and truly scary way to enjoy them is that its dark the volume is turned up and your either alone or your with a friend. One thing I will caution you about this DVD, is they put both movies on one DVD. They are long movies, well worth it, but long none the less. So if you go into watching them, you are able to sit threw two, two hour+ movies or watch them separately which is what I had to do eventually, since I tried to do it in one sitting. One last time, I will caution you that if your not into this type of suspense / horror / thriller, then it will probably disappoint you. However if this is right up your alley then id recommend it.

TaroPsyche Nyroc TaroPsyche Id have to disagree with you on The Ring being the worst movie. Id have to say that it wasn't really marketed as what is was supposed to be. I saw both The Ring and Ringu (the original Japanese movie). Id say that even though The Ring was aimed more as a horror movie, they were both more thrillers then horror movies. However one of the better things about the original was the moments of silents which made it more scary ^_^. Well, that might explain why I didn't like it. I was expecting to be terrified after watching it, since all my friends were like "HOMG I COULDN'T FINISH WATCHING IT LYKE SCARY OMG!!!". Maybe if knew it was a thriller it would of been different. >.> Id say its a cultural audience difference that wasn't written properly for American audiences. Ive been recently getting alot of japanese horror and other movies in my Netflix, and I've notice that their horror is more physiological thriller like which differs from American horror. The Ring was basically, lets take American actors take a Japanese script tweak alittle and then film it. One thing you will notice in Japanese film is they go for the silent treatment instead of the chase and stab. It is a very cool effect, but if your not looking for it and in my opinion you need to be in a dark room, audio up and maybe totally alone for the effect to be truly scary (again in my opinion). For instance if you've seen The Grudge and Ju On they are virtually the same movie just with different actors. I've seen The Grudge; I thought it was an ok movie. I found it a lot scarier than The Ring, although now I know The Ring wasn't meant to be all that scary. The only thing I didn't like about The Grudge was all of the flashbacks. I didn't know they were even flashbacks to begin with, so about half way through the movie I was just as confused as I am in math~ Plus, I didn't really like the ending of it. I don't like open-ended movies. sweatdrop Well, The Locker sounds ok. I don't know if my local video store would have it though.. I doubt it would disappoint me, since I would know what to expect (as in not very horror-ish). And yeah, it would probably be best to watch these movies alone in the dark~ or better yet with my friend who is scared of everything, and would probably freak out during the movie and get me scared too.

So it might help point out when a flashback occurs.

i haven't watched this movie yet, but my sister has and she loved it. it's M. Butterfly and it's a tragedy. it also has a male/male relationship and one-sided love. it's a really beautiful film accordin to my sister even if she doesn't generally like movies with that kind of plot. ^_^
