[[Uh oh. Now I actually have to pick one, but I really like both Eagle's Glen and Eagle's Eyrie. Hmm...
Alutian: Yes; I have pretty much done that. Maybe not quite to the extent of it excluding ALL else, but certainly most things. In my case it's normally a book series. What is it, if you don't mind me asking?]]

Maybe it didn't exclude all else, but it certainly was consuming. It's an anime/manga called Bleach. A bit weird, especially towards the beginning, but very quickly it becomes something very interesting/epic. I'm trying to drag myself back into HP by writing a crossover with it. No idea whether it's working or not.

[[wow. Alutian that same thing is happening to me like right now... only over 2 things! Kingdom Hearts (the video game) and Percy Jackson (book series). I feel so evil for starting to avoid Harry Potter.]]

Kingdom Hearts and Percy Jackson are both rather epic themselves, so I don't really blame you there. Interests come and go. It's not easy, keeping your fascination with one particular fandom intact for a long period of time.

I've gotten back into HP lately...started re-reading the seventh book the other night and couldn't stop, as usual. mrgreen But once more real life is starting to take over...once I get past April 18th, I'll be golden. The week before that will be interesting though...a couple of papers, plus final dress rehersals for King Lear plus performances. gonk

I've heard of that manga/anime, but haven't actually read/seen it. I think I need to have a look at this Percy Jackson stuff though.
Alutian: Could you by any chance please update the list of students on the first page of the common room when you have a minute?

The writing style of Percy Jackson is hilarious, and it's a very engaging story and concept besides. Even the chapter titles are great - examples from The Battle of the Labrynth: I Battle the Cheerleading Squad The Underworld Sends Me a Prank Call Nico Buys Happy Meals for the Dead I Take a Permanent Vacation We Steal Some Slightly Used Wings
...they just don't end. What's better is that the event that each title refers to is a thoroughly serious one which impacts plot development.
Out of curiosity, has anyone here seen the movie? I haven't, and I've got to admit I'm a bit worried about their treatment of it. I realize that the director was the same one who did HP and the Sorcerer's Stone (which didn't deviate from the books too much at all) but still...

I've seen the movie. I think they pretty much messed up everything. There was no Ares (I was beginning to like that guy), and they added a bunch of stuff to the Lotus Casino (where did eating lotuses come from?), etc. etc. etc. I think it was a let-down from the book.
oh yeah! if you want to read a little of percy jackson, I found chapter one of the first book: "I accidentally vaporize my pre-algebra teacher".

I've been meaning to read Percy Jackson, but college makes that impossible until summer.

Ooh, I like those chapter titles. Going to put the book on hold at the library. And read that first chapter in the meantime. Thanks for posting it!
Has anyone read any of Trudi Canavan's books?

The name doesn't ring any bells, so I'm going to say no. What genre are they, generally?

I hate not being able to read Harry Potter, so I'm balancing it with Hamlet, Random Family, and my Reseach paper on J.K Rowling lol.

Hey, Juice? What is that video clip in your signature? Because unless I'm very much mistaken, it seems to be some Death Eaters, Voldemort(?), and Neville Longbottom dancing the Cancan. And that's just...wrong. confused
