No he wasn't >< that's just his last name xD, well that's what I gathered cuz it said both his parents were elves @.@ I confuzzled ><
hey here is some history on Elrond.
"Elrond son of Earendil* and Elwing**, who at the end of the first age chose to belong to the firstborn,and remained in middle-earth until the end of the third age;Master of Imladris(Rivendell) and keeper of Vilya, the ring of Air(one of the 3 Elvish rings the elf's made) witch he had received from Gil-Galad(who died in Mordor). Called Master Elrond and Elrond Half-Elven. The name means 'Star-dome'.(Elronds name)
*Earendil(Elronds father) called 'half-elven'. 'The Blessed','The Bright',and 'The ariner'; son of Tuor and Idril Turgon's daughter; escaped from the sack of Gondolin and wedded Elwing daughter of Dior at The Mouth of Sirion; sailed with her to Aman and pleaded for help against Morgoth;set to sail the skies in his ship Vingilot bearing the Silmaril that Beren and Luthien brought out of Angband. the name means 'lover of the sea'(Earendils name not Angband.)
**Elwing(Elronds mother) Daughter of Dior, who escaping from Doriath with the Silmaril wedded Earendil as the Mouths of Sirion and went with him to Valinor; mother of Elong and Elros***. The name means 'Star-Spray'.(Elwings name)
*** Elros(Elronds brother) Son of Earendil and Elwing, who at the end of the first age chose to be numbered among Men, and became the first King of Numenor,living to a very great age. Elros's name means 'Star-Foam'.
