My father was a simple gamma, a former beta who had lost his position in his old age. One of my three siblings died of an illness before we were even weaned. My younger brother and myself were never what you could call close. I played and wrestled like any other pup, but I just never got too involved with the other members of my pack. My old man made it very clear that my brother and I may be asked to leave as we grew. Our alpha kept very few males around the pack. He didn't want anyone to challenge his position if he could avoid it and he wasn't exactly one to share his ladies. My father had earned a right to his mate in his younger years.
