"La, he's a good person," Kelly laughed. "I wish he'd hae rescued me sooner."
Zia stripped out of the sundress and grabbed the other outfit to put it on.

"There! All finished," Ellandra said, setting the scissors down and cleaning any stray hair off of Kelly's neck and shoulders. "Well, you're here now," she added as she swept up the hair that had fallen on the floor. "And you're always going to be welcomed and loved here. . . now, I believe we have a cake to bake?"
Rhian smiled and helped Ziazan adjust its pretty pageboy outfit. "You look really good, sibling-Ziazan! Want to show Mama?"

Kelly grinned, finally coming out of his shell a bit, and got up to help with making the cake.
Zia nodded and headed for the kitchen. "Mama?"

Ellandra smiled at Kelly and ruffled his now-shorter hair a bit, and turned to smile at Ziazan and Rhian when they entered. "Hello Ziazan, Rhian - oh, my, Ziazan, you look so very nice," she said. "Where did you get it?"
Rhian peered around (and over) Ziazan. "From me! What'chya making, Mama?"
Ellandra wrapped her arms around Kelly's shoulder and smiled down at him. "Kelly and I are baking a chocolate cake."
"Ooooooh, yay, Mama! And Kelly, you look really handsome - you look just like Faolan, I bet you're gonna grow up reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally really good-looking!" Rhian cheered, practically bouncing on her toes with happiness.

The little boy blushed bright red at the compliment, tugging at one of his tapered eared. "Th-thanks."
Zia grinned at its own compliments. "Rhian has a ton of clothes. Really. Where did she get all of that from?" It had been getting by on Fao's hand-me-downs mostly, not really having thought to have its own wardrobe.

Ellandra tilted her head and stared at Rhian inquiringly. "That's a good question . . .. where are you getting all these clothes from, flutterby?" As she spoke, she absently smoothed Kelly's hair into order again.
Rhian blushed, the rosy glow even tinting the ends of her antennae pinkish. "Well, I've had lots of time since I can't see Lauss-teacher, so I've been helping the sewing-lady. .. . and I get money so I can buy pretty clothes!"

"Well, there you have it," Zia laughed. It didn't seem unusual for Rhian to have a job. After all, it had been helping Keagan with the accounting lately to make extra money. Not that it really ever spent the money it got from that or the allowance Fao gave both the Essentics, but it was nice to have it anyway and made Zia feel helpful.

"Which reminds me, Sibling-Ziazan, I have another outfit for you to wear! Come ooooooon!" Rhian squealed and grabbed Ziazan by the wrist, dragging her sibling back out of the kitchen and back to her room. "Heeheeheehee!"
Ellandra blinked and stifled a yawn for a moment, then turned back to Kelly. "Well, that was interesting. Let's get to baking that cake, hmm?"

"Are they always like that?" Kelly asked, moving to start getting ingredients for the cake. "It must be weird sometimes t' hae somethin' so alien in th' house."

Ellandra nodded as she went to get other ingredients that were needed. "Yes, they're always like that. But no, it doesn't seem weird to me, but then I've known them all of their lives, so I suppose I'm used to their behavior."

"How long hae you an' Da been married? Those kids o' his look a lot older'n th' time it takes t' hae a baby," Kelly noted, looking again at the door where the Essentics had retreated. He had no idea that he was, in fact, older in years than the two "older" siblings.

Ellandra smiled at Kelly. "Just a bit over a year," she aid, knowing that the boy was probably smart enough to figure out that Rhian and Ziazan couldn't possibly be hers - very soon he'd need to find out more about them, but hopefully it would work out well enough.

"No, Kelly, they're not," Ellandra said, setting her ingredients down and walking over to him, bending down and taking him gently by the shoulders. "You're going to need to keep this between you, me, Rhian, Ziazan, and your father, all right, Kelly?" She paused and licked her lips before starting to explain. "Do you know the story about the beings who helped to fix the world?" She asked, figuring that would be the easiest place to begin to explain what was going on to Kelly.
