Tiegan was relieved he did't tell her to go home. She blinked. His guardian? Oh, right, he was a fa'e. She'd half forgotten that they had guardians and such, and that Neith wasn't really Kia's mother...

"Really? I mean..." Tiegan hesitated. She wasn't sure why she felt nervous. Maybe she was nervous about most adults at the moment. "Yeah. If she knows how then that might be good. If she isn't in bed..."

"He," he corrected before confirming, "But yeah. He's good at patching people up." At Tiegan's second 'if,' he grinned. "Nah, he'll be awake." Even if he were asleep - unlikely, since he tended towards being nocturnal - he wouldn't mind it if they woke him up.

"That's the first time you've smiled." Tiegan noticed out loud, a bit taken back by the alien look on his face. Not that it was a bad look... "Should do it more. It looks good." Better than grimicing and frowning and whatever other expressions he was experianced at.

She stood up and smiled a small smile as Tiegan swung the backpack over her back again. That was another thing too... her entire family was made of females. Even Ra looked like one slightly, with his long hair...

"Okay, I'll let him look at it."

When Tiegan pointed it out, Mikhail's grin turned into a slight frown. Really? She probably was right, but it wasn't like he'd had any reason to the other day, or tonight either. He grumbled defensively, "I do when I have a reason."

Still, at least she was cooperating. He opened the door and held it for her before heading outside.

She grinned now, now that he'd gotten defensive about his smile, finding it a little amsuing. Tiegan was smart enough to keep it concealed as she went out first into the night, her hair shielding the sides of her faces.

"You must have a good guardian then." She tried. Friendly. Couldn't tease. Teasing was a bad idea. Tiegan was tempted to say 'Smiles are illegal in some countries, you know, we have to smile for them. For the smilers in prison...' or something... but that was something like her mother would have said, befre her mother went weird over this Egypt stuff.

Maybe she'd try it later.

"How far is it to walk?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 06, 2009 3:23 pm

"Yeah," he said, actually trying to resist the small smile that might have come with it out of sheer contrariness, "I do."

"Fifteen minutes." And the walk probably wouldn't be filled with scintillating conversation, either.

Tiegan lifted the backpack higher into her back and started to follow, eating teh sandwich as she walked. Fifteen minutes was good. She watched as shadows seemed to trail them, lurking behind things, as if creatures or people were trailing them...

God, how was she going to explain that to him and his guardian if the 'shadows' decided to come out?

Tiegan continued to eat, glancing behind them occasionally, listening as occasionally there was a twig snapped or leaves rustled a little more than usual.

Mikhail was blissfully oblivious to Tiegan's unease. He was happy to be out of the basement, happy to be going home. It was a little weird, though. He'd never brought anyone over to his house, although he'd been to Seung's and Tzao's. Stefan would probably be delighted.

With such things occupying his mind, he kept on towards home.

Tiegan nearly tripped. Damn. She bent down to lift a small black cat up, one that had clearly gotten its goal yet again by standing directly in front of her, then put it down behind her quickly, nudging it away.

It wandered off again, with an unmistakeable air of offence at being rejected so fast.

She hurried up to Mik and continued to walk just behind him while trying to ignore the odd rustle as several of her 'pets' were attempting to follow her unnoticed. They wouldn't come out unless she directly called them while being 'steathy.'

...okay, that was weird. And what was with the noise? It wasn't exactly normal. So he asked, "Uh...what's going on?"

"Just the pets. They tend to follow me around." Tiegan muttered, in a low voice moving up nearer. "Just ignore them. They won't go near any houses and will leave soon when there's more houses around."

She continued to walk, watching ahead, listening behind. The hooves had stopped and she guessed that the two bodies the eight hooves belonged to had turned back for home by now.

"Do you have pets?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 06, 2009 4:32 pm

"...oh. Right." That was a little weird, but whatever. As long as it wasn't anything malicious, he didn't care much right now. "My guardian has a cat," he answered with a shrug. He and Conan had never gotten along.

Cats were interesting. She glanced back but they all seemed to be falling behind again now. The last one to follow, a strange catlike thing with saber teeth and a mane that appeared to be made of shadow, lingered a few more minutes before heading off back for the safety of the wild.

Tiegan followed quietly, aware now that they had all gone back to their prefered wild, and started to finish the sandwich, taking slow mouthfuls.

With the mystery solved, Mik didn't pay any more attention to it. He just kept on walking until they came to the townhouse he shared with his guardian. He fished out his key and opened the door, which put them in the living room. It was a comfortable sort of place, cluttered but clean. To the left was the kitchen. On the island in the center lounged a big gray cat of no particular breed - a 'domestic shorthair,' as it were - both fat and extremely old. It flicked a battered ear, but otherwise paid no attention.

Stefan was just coming down the stairs when the door opened, and jumped over the last few. He was lean and handsome, with dark brown hair the same length as Mikhail's - it was pretty obvious where the angel's sense of style came from.

He'd...brought a friend home? That was new! But...hmm. He could smell blood on her. The dhampir, however, had a more ready smile than his son, and greeted them with a grin. "What trouble did you get into this time?"

"None," Mik was quick to grumble.

Tiegan glanced around, eyes and interest only lingering on the cat a moment, she knew that cats showed interest when it suited them, before she heard feet on the stairs and someone jumped down.

She glanced up to him, feeling a bit awkward and shy all of a sudden, not really being the social type who was able to go up to strangers. Tiegan was relaxed a bit by the smile though.

Tiegan was tempted to dob in the trapped in the basement thing but resisted at Mik's grumble. Maybe that'd embarrass him, or maybe he was always cranky over thing, Tiegan was starting to wonder if this crankiness was just his shield. Or something. She smiled shyly and held out her hand to shake his. "I'm Tiegan."
