((fo'sho. This is in response to Malag who "sensed" me.))
A chuckle came from the dark corridor as Sy heard the male speak. Indicating that he must have sensed her eavesdropping their conversation. Arching her back, uncrossing her arms, and placing her left foot on the floor which had been pressed into the wall she had been leaning on, the female warrior then swept out of the corridor and into the front room to resume leaning on the closest wall but where the newcomer would see her completely visible to his eyes.
"I wouldn't hold too big of a head if you think I have any interest in you," Sy snapped, her eyes glaring at the male.

Malag's eyes widened for a moment, but he kept his composure. Idiot! He thought to himself, You should have thought before you spoke! He bowed in a respectful manner, and returned his gaze to her.
"I apologize if any malice was taken from my words; I meant to speak jokingly, though my tone betrays me too often. Please forgive my intrusion, and forget my face for now, if it suits you. I shall return after I have proven myself worthy of interest."
He smirked casually as he moved back respectfully.
"Do have a look at the statue though; I'm always interested in further reviews. Good day to you."
He saluted once, and departed. His mind whirred again, but all thoughts of politics were gone, and the only thing on his mind now was doing what he did best: Taking life.
((That's all for now folks. It'll be a while til I finish the assassination, but I'll send it to Veldrin to avoid stretching the page. If he likes, he can post it, or whatev. Have a good assassination!))

Two floating disks silently made their way across the city of Ulorbbath. Not one person made to hamper the disks journey, not when they could easily distinguish who the disks belonged to. Eventually the pair separated, their destinations very different.
This one's destination didn't nearly have as far to travel as the other. The only warning the guards of Hun'Afin had was from the faint blue glow that slowly creeped up to the gates of the Second House.
It showed no hostile intent.
For it was a summons, with the bearings of the First House.

Once the gate guards spotted the markings on the driftdisk, the guard on duty dispatched a runner to inform Veldrin immediately.
The soldier arrived mere moments after Malag had departed for his mission. "M'lord Veldrin," the young drow, a distant relative of the previous Matron, huffed as he attempted to catch his breath. He snapped his forearm across his chest in salute as he dropped to one knee before he continued, "I beg your pardon for the intrusion, but I bear urgent news! A driftdisk bearing the markings of Qu'ellar Rylinndar has just arrived at the gate. What are your orders?"
Veldrin considered the drowling's words for a moment before he replied, "Open the gates. I shall inform the Matron, and we will be down shortly."
The young soldier snapped to attention, pivoted, and bolted out the door to relay Veldrin's orders to the rest of the watch.
Once the messenger had departed, Veldrin withdrew from a pocket on his belt the runestone that allowed him to communicate directly with any noble of the House, and activated it immediately. "Chalthara," he began in a hushed tone as he pictured his appointed figurehead, which attuned the stone to her House brooch. "We have a visitor from the First House. We will have to skip our little charade...we need only have you take credit for Jys'yl's poisoning and announce you as Matron. Meet me at the main entrance as swiftly as possible."

Chalthara made her way out to the front gates immediately. A visitor from the First House? She wondered what it could mean. Had someone found out about the ruse she and Veldrin were planning? To be cast out of another House, another city...even killed...
She straightened her posture and approached Veldrin, trying to seem a great deal more brave and commanding than she was feeling at the moment.
"Shall we see this visitor, then? From the way you spoke, it seemed that the matter was urgent."

"It may well be," Veldrin replied as he worked to calm the storm of questions raging inside his head, "though I admit I have little idea as to just what business Rylinndar has with us." He positioned himself behind and to the right of Chalthara, taking on the role of "bodyguard" as he continued, "I do believe we shouldn't keep the Queen waiting."
As Veldrin and Chalthara passed through the main entrance, the gates to the fortress-like compound swung wide, allowing the driftdisk safe passage.

Chalthara tried to stand her very tallest but was still shorter than her bodyguard. Well, no matter. She supposed she looked imposing enough -- she was the daughter of a noble house after all. With a start, she wondered if Matron Ulvira or whoever this member of the First House was would recognize her...but then she managed to calm herself. If she claimed to have poisoned the Matron of this house and now held that position, who were they to deny her. She had survived, had she not? She had certainly proven her worth time and time again.
She watched the driftdisk expectantly but respectfully.

Immediately the driftdisk followed through the gates, silently making its way towards the nobles, meeting them halfway. As if sensing their presence it came to a sudden halt. A few moments of silence passed as if the driftdisk was a sentient being able to enjoy its hosts unease. There was no one sitting a top it.
Then the silence was broken by a magical voice that came from the disk. "Matron Jys'yl Hun'Afin," It said, "Matron Ulvira sends her greetings. She wishes to have your company as soon as possible. It is urgent."
Of course the magical disk, nor the matron who had sent it forth, were aware of the new female who had taken the old matrons place. The driftdisk hovered silently, waiting for a reply.
