Kat couldn't run very fast, in fact near the poorer sections of town she had to pause to throw up on the sidewalk. She spat out a bit more bile, turning to look at Rook. "If we have no idea where we're running, it'd be better to go a bit more slowly, 'less we run right into trouble."

Kat leaned back against a fence, cradling the back of her head as she did. "It would probably be better if we split up. It's never good to run in groups."

Ruby St.Claire Kat leaned back against a fence, cradling the back of her head as she did. "It would probably be better if we split up. It's never good to run in groups." He shook his head. "I can help keep you hidden, Kat. I'm not going to leave you at their mercy." He leaned next to her, a small smile, "I went through all that hassle to get you free, just to let you die in some alleyway without me being there to help you, or die next to you."

Kat gave him a suspicious look. "And why is that? Why go to all this trouble to help a girl you talked to for about two minutes? Damned if I didn't appreciate that you let me run, but why all this?"

"What would it take for you to trust me? If you need to make out with long enough to get full-on mind control, go for it... Just... I can't really sit idle and watch the Keepers do what they do. Kat let out a low grumble, akin to the animal with which she shared a name. "We should start looking for some place to stay low," she said, her way of ending the argument. She brushed a hand against her head, an ache filling the space between her temples. "I think I could also use a drink."

Kat's smile sharpened at the edge as she pushed off the fence and started walking towards the seedier part of town. "A bar would work, a bar would work nicely."
