"Oh. . . " Rhian said, then nodded and followed after Keagan and Ziazan, quietl moving to the room where Faolan and Ellandra were waiting.
Ellandra was nearly asleep in the hospital bed, looking rather dwarfed by the white blankets around her. She was tired, and sore, but was resisting the pull of her body saying she needed to rest - that would have to wait until she had the twins in her arms and knew that everything would be okay. She couldn't fall asleep until then - though she barely glanced up as Keagan and the Essentics walked in.

Zia walked over cautiously to the bedside and put a hand on top of Fao's where the man was holding his wife's hand. "We brought you some flowers and presents." It shuffled a foot, wanting to climb up into Fao's lap and hug the man, but not sure if it should.
"Th' bairns are fine," Keagan said from the doorway. "Th' docs are checkin' them out an' all. Said th' boy wis born first, an' wis in a hurry t' come out 'cause he broke his sister's collarbone. She'll be fine, though." He rubbed the back of his neck. "They think your boy, though, might be blind."

Rhian stayed silent, going over and peering at Ellandra whilst her antennae flicked, but all she could sense was how tired her Mama was.
ellandra sighed a little and peeked up at Keagan through her eyelashes. ". . . We knew already," she said in a voice hoarse from all the yelling she had done.

"Ah figured as much," Keagan said, coming over to the bed. He ruffled Faolan's hair affectionately.
Faolan smiled up at his father then moved to pull Ziazan up into his lap, resting an arm around the little Alter. "Ellandra had me read th' bairn's cards when they were still brine shrimp in her tummy. Th' broken collarbone weren't foreseen, but th' docs told us durin' th' birthin'. They're out now, though, an' safe. Didnae really get t' see them 'cause they wanted t' wrap Beltaine up an' check on Samhain's eyes, but shouldnae be t'long now afore they bring them in." He let go of Elle's hand long enough to pat Rhian's head then took his wife's hand again, resting back with Zia in his lap.

Rhian blinked as Faolan patted her head, and stepped away a bit, smiling at Ellandra but going to a corner to wait. There wasn't room for her by the bed, really, especially with the babies coming in soon. She could wait to talk to Mama - and Faolan, she supposed - later, at some point when it wouldn't be a bother. There was no need to right now.
Ellandra saw Rhian back away from the bed, an her eyes darkened, but she was much too tired and sore to do anything about her flutterby right now - especially too tired. She sighed again. "It seems too long already," she said quietly.

A nurse came in pushing the babies in a stroller cart. She brought them around to the bedside and lifted one up. "Ready to meet your babies?"
Faolan sat up a little straighter, steadying Zia on his lap a bit. "Which one is which?"
"This little one," the nurse answered, indicating the one in her arms. "Is your daughter. The one with the bright orange hair there is your son. The girl's fussier so we'll get her fed first." She moved to help Ellandra with the baby.

As Ellandra held her daughter for the first time, every single awful thing she had said to Faolan, every pain she had gone through, every thing she'd suffered was wiped completely out of her mind as she looked at the tiny, perfect (if banged up) form of her little girl. . . her own little Bel. The baby's eyes opened a bit, and though they were a hazy infant blue, somehow the brunette could tell already that this little one would indeed have her eyes - silver, if so. Everything about the baby was wonderful, down to her fingers and toes and her little, perfect pointed ears, and the fine dusting of hair across her scalp. Ellandra could only see her son, her Sam, just barely, but she knew he was as perfect as his sister, despite his blindness - anf he had the bright orange hair she remembered Faolan having as a child. "Ohhh. . ." was the only sound that left her mouth, but it was more than enough to express her feelings at the moment.
Rhian watched from the corner, playing with her wind-up key and wondering if she was still needed now that the Grady family was complete.

The nurse lifted little Samhain gently and took him over to Faolan, settling the infant in his father's arms once Ziazan moved out of the way. "We wonnae be losin' this 'un in a dark room, fae sure," Faolan chuckled softly, gazing down at his son with pride. The infant yawned and waved a tiny fist around.
"He's so little," Zia said, peering at its new brother with multicolored eyes. "I thought they'd be . . . bigger, somehow."

Ellandra smiled, coming out of her new mommy! haze for a moment to smile at him. "They have to be little, Ziazan. . . . they'd never fit inside me if they weren't, after all." She gazed around the room a little mroe clearly now - interspersed with long glances at her abies and her husband - and finally spotted Rhian in the corner. "Rhian, flutterby, why are you all the way over there?"
Rhian didn't answer, but she moved closer, feeling chastised despite the innocence of Ellandra's question.

Faolan was ignoring the others, focusing on his little boy. He was making a soft growly sound, an odd little lullaby, while nuzzling the infant gently. He was a father after so long and he intended to enjoy it . . . at least until Sam had to go get fed, but then he'd be able to cuddle Bel a little, maybe.
Zia looked up at Ellandra and smiled. "Are they going to look more like you and Faolan when they get bigger? They sorta look like little old people right now."

Ellandra nodded as she fed Bel - and what a strange sensation that was! - and said, "Yes, they will; all new babies look like "old people", you could say," she said quietly, blinking as Rhian hurriedly set the flowers she was still holding on the nightstand by the hospital bed and backed away, only peeking at the babies for the briefest of moments.
. . . Something was definitely bothering that little one, Ellandra realized, but there wasn't anything she could do for her, not now. In the meantime, Rhian walked over to the side of the room and leaned against the wall, closing her eyes and simply drinking in the emotion in the room.

Ziazan bounded over and grabbed hold of Rhian's hands. "Come, sister. No need to hide. Come see how cute our siblings are." It tugged at her to come look at the infants.
Faolan glanced up at the Essentics' antics. "Rhian, you wanna come hold your new brother?"
"I know I do," Keagan said, leaning on the back of the chair, one hand down to tickle the infant's tummy gently. "La, boy, but he looks just like you did as a bairn. Donnae really seem tha' long ago tha' I took you in. Look at his little horns. Oh, lad, he's gonna be a heartbreaker like his da, tha's fae sure."
The young man laughed at his father. "Leave off, Da. He ain't gonna be like me. He'll be smart."
"Ain't tha' th' truth," Keagan chuckled, then looked at the Essentics. "You two behave yourselves an' come see the weans."

Rhian blinked, but let Ziazan tug her over to the bedside as she tried to figure out what Ziazan and Faolan were both telling her. Wide-eyed, she tried to back away a little again. "I'd drop him," she said, absolutely certain in that sad fact - she was just too clumsy, she couldn't hold something as tiny. . . and - and delicate. . . as that little thing, no matter how cute he was. She couldn't trust herself to hold him.
Meanwhile, Ellandra was quietly taking in the details of her daughter's features as the baby nursed, a soft, content look in her tired grey eyes.

"You wonnae drop him if'n your sittin' down. It's easier t' hold a bairn tha' way," Faolan said, motioning for her to sit in the other chair close to the bedside. "Besides, you know Lauss'll be askin' you what it wis like, eh, an' you'll wanna be able t' tell him, yeah?" He smiled at the young Alter, moving to stand up with his infant son in his arms.
Zia, meanwhile, had gone to Ellandra's side, terribly curious as to what she was doing with the other baby. It leaned down to try and peer under the blanket. "What is she doing, Mama?"

Rhian sat down obligingly, but her expression was still one that spoke of terror - she didn't want to hurt the tiny little thing, and she was absolutely certain she would - just because of her sheer clumsiness. "But - I - um. . . " she stammered, sounding remarkably like Ellandra in that moment as she hesitated and struggled with her loss for words.
Ellandra pulled the blanket up a little higher, but smiled at Ziaza. - though her cheeks were dusted with a faint blush. "She's eating, Ziazan," the brunette said simply. If it wanted mroe specific details, for now Ziazan would just have to ask Faolan. Ellandra was in no mood to explain such things to anyone - she was just too worn out at the moment.
