Just read over this thread and I see a few familiar books. I worked in a bookshop for a few years and I have to have a book going at all times.

I used to read fantasy books only but then realised I should expand my horizons so I was better able to help customers choose a book. Now I'm actually sick of fantasy, it just got too much the same.

Terry Pratchett - love his books, I have most of them.

HitchHikers' Guide...- Read and reread during my days at teachers' college. And reread. hehehe NOT going to see the movie as I've heard it is all wrong.

Da Vinci Code - freaked me out, (I'm Catholic) had to go buy a response to all the theories it raised. I'm sorted now.

Angels and Demons - too gruesome for me

Books I buy as soon as a new one comes out - Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell, Janet Evanovich, Maeve Binchy (I thought she wrote romance for old ladies, but her books are way better than that), Linda Fairstein...I'm sure there's more.

Maeve Binchy also wrong Circle of Friends, right? I've been eyeing that one on my shelf for a re-read, along with The Joy Luck Club.

a friend from work has lent me another 2 Pratchett books, Carpe Jugulum which i enjoyed immensely, i'm now reading Men at arms, after that it may be time for a trip to the bookshop as i need something new!

Yes, Maeve Binchy wrote Circle of Friends. It's one of the few I haven't read. It was made into a movie.

Men at Arms is one of my favourite Discworld books. I love the ones with Carrot in. My other favourite is Guards!Guards!

Right now I am reading The Va Dinci Cod. hehehehe Quite funny.

i've leant the Da Vinci code to a friend, hope he likes it as much as i did, it really fired my interest in symbolism and pagan beliefs.
my favourite Pratchett books tend to be ones with the witches in, they're such fun. what i like about Terry Pratchett is that he uses homour to delivery solid moral messages, so they can insinuate their way into people's heads without them realising.

I'm going to have to make a list of some of these books. smile You all have given me some good ideas for reading material.

Just wondered if anybody had ever read any of the Anita Blake books by Laurell K. Hamilton. I wouldn't really recommend the later books unless you're a fan of her, but the earlier books were really good.

I love the Harry Potter books biggrin I've read all of them so far, but I'll probably wait and borrow the new one from the library and then buy it once all of the hype goes down.

Has anyone read "Digital Fortress" (Dan Brown)? Is it similar to "Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" in any way? "Digital Fortress" was just released in my language, and I'm thinking about reading it if the style is similar to those books... whee

I actually just saw that book @ a local bargain bookstore and was toying with the idea of buying it. I really enjoyed his other stuff but I think DF deals with government conspiricies.

i LOVE the Harry Potter books! I haven't purchased the new one yet. Probably in the next couple weeks I'm thinking. Ideally I'm waiting for the series to be complete and buy the books in a box set, but I figure I can get this one and eventually give it to Kevin's nephews when they get old enough etc...

No current bookreading for me tho. Still unpacking and such. Should be doing house stuff now But I'm so not motivated. I was up late last night and woke up around noon 2day and i seriously could take a nap right now lol

I love the Harry Potter books and pre-ordered one for me and one for my best friend for her birthday off amazon dot com, but it arrived while I was on vacation, and I have to swing by my best friend's house today and get mine! I started and finished another Soul type book while on vacation, called Seat of the Soul, by Gary Zukav, and it was an enormous help to issues I'm going through right now! It's sort of a self-help book from the perspective of the energy of the soul and its needs, and although a few pieces of info surprised me (like about animal souls), it was a much needed read!

ohhhhh, that sounds good! I have been reading several on the Kaballah lately, seems some RL celebs have sparked an interest that has Kaballah books coming out of the wood work rolleyes My oldest Kaballah book is from the early 60's before I could ever read.... my mom belonged to some unusual book club she found through the old FATE magazine, and needless to say, left some interesting books behind.

That would be very convenient since we are toying with the idea of setting up our 'guest room' in the room that currently serves as the 'library'... and the only furniture that won't leave to make way for the guest bed and dresser are the BOOK shelves because they are way too full razz
