A chapter where Sunil signs a contract with Tosten Tosten Tosten was rather recharged today. A lovely night with Gogol, a tasty lunchtime, a fascinating chat with Yasha. So why was there still that little knot in his belly? He had come to the conclusion that if he confronted it, even if it turned out to be an awful choice to make, at least he wouldn't sit around wondering all day. So here he was, back at Kam's residence. Luckily the window was open once more so he fluttered right over to it. He perched momentarily on the sill, peering into the first room... should he just go inside, check Sunil's lab and such for life? Maybe he shouldn't intrude, so plan two: "Suniiiiil! Are you home?" Sunil Sunil was, as usual, sitting in her lab with Susu. She was actually in the middle of writing a diary entry when she heard Tosten calling. She wondered briefly if leaving the window open was such a good idea, but shook her head and walked out into the hall within sight of the window. "I'm right here. What's up Tosten? Come on in." Tosten Tosten beamed a grin and lit from the sill with the usual bits of shed feathers that came from particularly hard flapping, such as take-offs. He fluttered his way over to her and soon touched down upon the broad floor. "What'cha up to? Are you busy? I can come later, cause I'm not really here for any reason, I guess, I sorta wanted to visit and... other stuff... but mostly visit!" Sunil Sunil looked at Tosten with disbelief. Where did he get this constant energy? "I was writing a diary entry and admiring my new poster. Nothing I can't do later. Come on into my lab." Sunil turned and led Tosten back into her closet "lab". It looked much like it had the last time, but with a new feien-sized poster that said 'DNA' tacked up one wall. "So how are you Tosten? You seem ... energetic." Tosten "I'm...uh...." Tosten stuttered clumsily as he followed her back into her club-house, as he always thought it to be, and glanced about. Then in sudden outburst he swung around the topic. "Wow! That's a, uh, neat poster. With... letters... what's it for?" He moved closer to this mentioned poster puzzledly. DNA? What did that stand for? He began to create various answers in his head. Sunil Sunil laughed good naturedly. "DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. It is what tells your body what to look like as you grow up." It was a simplistic explaination, but then again Tosten was a simple feien. Tosten "Really?" Tosten looked toward Sunil in surprise. Oh, she was so smart! He looked back at the poster and the three letters wonderingly. "There's stuff in people's body telling them what to look like... thats kinda creepy, what do they look like?" Then, not waiting for his own answer, he turned to face her. "I met a feien that's real smart too! But I don't think she's your kinda smart, I mean she doesn't to sciencey stuff, she's like... uh... spiritual smart." Sunil Sunil raised her eyebrows. A new feien, huh? Intriguing. Sunil didn't think much of spirituality, preferring to rely on herself rather than a greater being, but information on other feien was never wasted. "Oh really? What is her name? Did you meet her at the shop?" Tosten had seemed a little upset earlier. Sunil wasn't very good at reading people, but Tosten generally had one mood and that was happy. He hadn't seemed all that happy before he looked at the poster. "What really brings you here Tosten? You seemed about to say something before you asked about the poster." Tosten "Mmhmm, at the shop! Her name is Yasha!" Tosten hesitated and added on thoughtfully. "I've never seen a feien like her before either. Her eyes are really really pale and she's kinda furry and she had no hair. It was weird at first but I think she looks cool and then she knows really cool stuff, we talked earlier and everything!" He stuck to the first question, momentarily avoiding his reason for being here. Even if he came here with one purpose he was childishly trying to skirt around it, his resolve wavering. Sunil Sunil sighed. Tosten obviously was trying to dodge the reason he had actually come. She had an idea of what it was, but she certainly wasn't going to be the one to introduce the issue. "That's very very interesting. I've never seen a furry feien before. What exactly did she tell you about spiritual matters?" She crossed her arms over her chest. She could play the waiting game as well. Tosten Tosten wasn't good at this game. He was starting to fidget and tried to focused on his own distraction, but he was backing himself into his own corner. How confusing. "Well, she told me about zen and meditating and understanding stuff. And about how people live to learn things and, um, that souls are reborn to learn new things and it's all sorta confusing and I feel really bad for the souls, you know? To have to keep dying and coming back to do stuff again and again, it has to be annoying." Sunil "Mmmm... I suppose. But it is nice to know you get more than one chance to achieve your aims." Sunil strode over and sat on one of her boxes. She wondered how long Tosten could avoid his point. Tosten "... I guess ..." Scuffing a foot at the floor, he glanced about the room for another distraction. Unfortunately he didn't have much more to babble about, the things that were new in his life he was a little shy of mentioning. He was running out of options... "Sunil, how're you feeling?" He inquired in an unusually quiet voice. Sunil Was this the reason for his visit? She didn't think so, but maybe it would lead to it. "I'm fine. How are you feeling, Tosten?" The truth was she was a little confused about some pretty crucial aspects of her life, but that was private as it concerned Tosten, and she was already working it out in her diary. Tosten "... Kinda bad." Tosten murmured shyly. He didn't like to do this, not at all. He liked to cheer up sad people, he hated to be the one there having to talk instead, it was a lot more scary to hope to be cheered up then it was to cheer someone up. His hands clasped behind his back and he tried to recall his night with Gogol to keep him happy and confident of this. kamtrouble: Sunil's eyebrows shot up. She knew he wasn't his usual self, but bad. This was serious. And apparently she was gonna have to deal with it. "I'm sorry to hear that Tosten. Why do you feel bad?" She guestured for him to come over and sit with her. "Everyone feels bad sometimes you know and it passes." Tosten Tosten reluctantly came closer, going over answers in his head while clambering on to sit beside the taller feien. His feet swung free and the exit for his energy was a relief. "I know it does. I just... I've never really felt bad before." He admitted softly. It was kind of scary, everyone said it passed but it was a rough thing to first experience, what if it stayed? No one would like him at all! They'd sigh and frown when he came and oh goodness, how worrysome! He closed his eyes, puffed his chest for bravery, and blurted softly. "You lied to me Sunil. A lot. For days." Sunil "Yes I did. And I may do it again someday if it suits my purpose." She sighed and looked at her feet. Swinging them a little, the way Tosten often did. "I know that isn't a comforting thing to hear, but I am who I am Tosten. I'm not going to change just because you want me too, just like you won't change just for me." She turned to him. "People lie Tosten. And at some point you just have to decide for yourself when and when not to trust what someone says." Tosten Tosten flinched at her words, at each one and wholely expected to be bleeding from it. He was surprised by how calm he felt on the outside when the inside was just a raging storm. His eyes set upon the floor, watching it during the brief moments it was revealed before his feet swung up and hid it. "... How are you supposed to know when they lie or not?" He tried to compromise and learn from this. If Sunil won't change then he'd just have to know how to be around her. It was logic, right? He didn't think it was working though, inside he wasn't listening at all. Sunil "Well, you know what people are like Tosten. For example, I'm not particularly good at forgiving. You know that now, so if I act like I am going to forgive or act really nice about something, I'm probably lying or faking it. You have to learn from your experiences and move on." She sighed, talking to Tosten like this was like kicking a puppy. "You did the right thing anyway Tosten. You stayed, you must have felt something wasn't right. And you stopped me from hitting Seamus more. There isn't anything else you could have done." Tosten Tosten frowned and shook his head slowly. "I stayed because I wanted to make sure no animals came and attacked you. I didn't think that you lied and wanted to hurt him..." How was he going to do this? To believe people would lie and use him, he would never be able to notice that because he never wanted it to happen. He puffed his chest and squared his shoulders again like a child trying to play grown-up, truly he was trying his very best to be mature during this but it just wasn't who he was. "I thought that I knew you, but I was wrong, how am I supposed to know if someone else lies if I'm wrong about what I know about them too?" Sunil Sunil pursed her lips thoughtfully. That was a tough question. "I don't know. I would get tricked too if I didn't know someone and they lied to me. I think you just have to know that it might happen, but in the end you'll just learn from it, so no use worrying about it." Tosten "... So you'll hurt me to get what you want, that's the kind of person you are?" Tosten whispered softly, staring at the floor hard. He closed his eyes and swallowed audibly. "I hate that. I hate it. But... but it'll be okay. I won't hate you for it. I don't want to. I don't like this feeling and if I stay upset over it then it'll just stay." He randomly clung onto Sunil's arm then, at last turning to her to be able to do that. Maybe by now he was talking more to himself, making his final decision. "I won't hate you and it's okay, I can figure out how to do this and it'll be fine and we can all play again and it'll be fun." He'd just play pretend, he was good at that. Ares and Seamus was happy, they didn't know he was sad. So if he ignored all this, ignored that feeling, then they'd all be happy and this would all end. Simple logic. Sunil "Yes Tosten that is who I am. And I don't want you to pretend I'm someone else. If you can't accept me the way I am, then you can't accept me and we shouldn't hang out. If you lie to yourself you'll only end up feeling worse in the end." She reached her free arm around him. "I didn't like lying to you Tosten. And I guess I'm sorry." Tosten "... Is that a lie?" Tosten frowned and peered up at her slightly, then half smiled and pressed his head against her, closing his eyes once more. "It is, I'm sure. It's okay. I like Sunil, I don't want to stop being around you. Even if you do bad things like that, you're still really smart and fun and I like you. I.. I guess I should learn about this.. lying stuff anyway..." kamtrouble: Sunil played with his hair a little bit. So like a little boy. "No it isn't a lie. How about I make you a promise Tosten? A real promise, we can pinky swear or something. I will never lie to you. I will only ever not answer or tell you the truth. Then you don't have to worry about me and we can hang out without any pretending." Tosten Tosten half opened his eyes and lifted his face from her arm, looking momentarily doubtful. Now was that a lie? Gah, this lying thing was frustrating. Why couldn't, like, little red lights pop out of peoples heads and sirens go off when they lie? It'd be so much easier. "Really? I'd like that... He wasn't so sure what value a promise had to her though, as lying didn't seem to matter. And if she broke the promise he knew already he wouldn't hate her as she refused to. But, well, never ignore an opening of hope. "... Can you sign a paper maybe?" He inquired innocently. A contract. Sunil Sunil shook her head. "I will sign a paper to that effect. In blood if you insist. I am serious Tosten. I may just not answer you at times if I don't want to lie." Sunil stood up and walked over to her diary, where she tore out a page. Carrying over that and a tiny piece of lead from a mechanical pencil, she offered them to Tosten. "You should write it and then I'll sign it and you can keep it." She nodded her head. This was the right thing to do. Lying was gonna take years off of Tosten's life. Better just not to lie to him. Tosten Tosten studied her face, surprised by how serious she was. She really meant this, didn't she? He was immediately excited now. Silence? He could handle silence, silence didn't convince him of something that was false. "Okay!" He took the piece of lead and torn diary page. Placing them upon the box top, he stared down at the page hard for an idea of what to write. Let's see: I really, truly promise not to lie to Tosten. I'll answer with silence (which is okay) or with the truth (which is really okay!) instead of lying. smile There, that was pretty, right? He even doodled a little smiley face at the end then soon presented it to Sunil hopefully. "Is that okay?" Sunil Sunil took it and read it. She was trying to be serious because this was a serious matter, but the smiley face got her and she laughed. "Yes, that is perfect. Exactly what I meant." She reached out and took the lead and signed her name at the bottom of the page. Sunil. Then she handed the contract back to Tosten with a grin. "Excellent. Now you don't have to worry."

April 19, 2004 I've been debating something to myself for a while, and I haven't really come to a conclusion. When I mentioned this to Kam she told me I might want to write my thoughts down. She claimed that helps her to get things straight sometimes. So here goes.
I can't decide what my relation is to Seamus, Ares, and Tosten. I don't really think of them as friends anymore, but I can't get myself to think of them as enemies either. I suppose that leaves them in some sort of grey area like "allies". But hat does that really mean to me? And more importantly, is that where I want to be? I don't necessarily trust any of them, but surely cutting all ties would be extreme.
After all, I gain information from them and possibly their involvement in my future endeavors if I keep them as "friends". But it is possible I will look weak with a group of allies such as them. However, I have yet to encounter an enemy who thinks in such a manner.
Maybe writing did just help me to come to a conclusion. I will keep my "allies" close until I have a strong reason to do otherwise. Easier to keep an eye on them that way.~Sunil

April 22, 2004 I'm bored. Kam is too busy with school to help me build a tree house or anything else. And I haven't thought up anything fun in ages. For a couple hours Susu and I went around hunting down mice and bugs and killing them, but we totally grossed Kam out and she put a stop to it. I have to admit it was pretty satisying to beat the living daylights out of something and suffer little to no consequences.
I've continued to work out as well with the weights Kam made for me, but I've got that down to a short routine in the morning. I also have been meditating and using my magic by the bonsai tree. It has a calming feeling to it and it actually seems to enjoy the breezes I've been sending through its branches. But other than working on my strength, physical and magical, I don't have a whole lot to occupy my day.
Having a fight with Seamus sucked in a way. Everyone was all upset, I had to mostly avoid the store, and I was on edge for a couple days. However, I think I was ready. I had a purpose, a goal, something to work for. Something to push me forward in a way idleness can't. I need a goal, a fight, something to work for. But I have no idea what to apply myself to.
I have gathered some genetic codes through Kam for some of the other fairies and have started a list of my theories on different genes. That is a fun mental exercise, but it doesn't excite me. It doesn't make me feel alive.
If I could I think I would start a new fight. But I've already beaten up Seamus. Who on earth would I fight now?~Sunil

April 25, 2004 In other news, I haven't gone into the shop in a while, nor have I spoken to anyone. I don't really want to either. I am actually very happy hanging around here with kam and co. She is pretty busy, so Susu and I get to run the household.
I have been practicing my magic, and I've gotten quite good at directing my gusts of wind's direction and strength. I also have been praticing my punching and I think I'm getting stronger. I should be able to take on anything if this keeps up.~Sunil

April 27, 2004 Today was an interesting day. I met a new feien, got in a fight, and saw Tosten and Seamus.
I was bored, so I went out flying and I just seemed to drift in the direction of the shop. I decided not to fight it and went inside. I was just going to peruse some of the genetic information available (especially since some new genes have been revealed), but I ended up meeting with a red heat elemental juvenile feien named Maq. He said his bonder was Tera and that she had notes on a lot of the feien. I was very interested in said notes, but Tosten came in before I could enquire too deeply.
Then that air-headed Hikari came in and started a fight. She actually slapped me. I tried to return the favor and break her stupid nose, but Seamus stopped me. And she dodged. I should have added magic. I'll teach her a lesson soon enough. For the time being I just messed up her hair, which honestly seemed to upset her as much as a punch would have upset other people.
I also got to talk to Tosten briefly, which was nice. It sounds like he has been bored too, so I gotta think up an adventure we can go on. He mentioned something about a penguin and painting the store, but I had to go before I got a good explanation. Maybe I'll go drop by his house sometime.~Sunil

April 30, 2004 I went to the store again today and met Maq again. He was standing by the bookshelves looking for books on the place Tera (his bonder) is from and on spells.
I asked him where Tera was from but he said he didn't know a whole lot about it. He did say she had a scroll with words that moved on it though. In the same place as the book of notes she has on us. He says she locks the drawer, but that he knows where the key is and we can steal it sometime and go exploring. I'm looking forward to it.
But I also tried to help him with his magic. I didn't do a very good job though, I'm not very patient. And I really only know my magic. Maq doesn't have magic detection so he apparently can't see the magic inside him. I can, but I can't manipulate it for him. So, I'm not sure what to do about his magic.
He says that he could cast spells from other elements at some point as well as his heat based spells. I figure this means he has great potential for causing harm to others. In order to insure those others include my enemies and not me, I have decided to "befriend" Maq. I can only hope Tera hasn't observed too much about me to allow that.
I was thinking perhaps I would ask Corvus about Maq's magic. But then I realized that without some sort of benefit to him Corvus probably wouldn't help me. I'm gonna need to help myself. I'll have to read more about magic the next time I am in the store.~Sunil

In which Seamus comes to stay Seamus Outside of kam's house, a small greenish creature flitted about, searching for a way inside. It was Seamus, probably the last person kam or Sunil expected right then, he knew. He just hoped they wouldn't send him home. He was looking rather bedraggled, after all. Soon, however, he found a cracked-open window and squeezed in onto the sill. Looking about, he knocked on the pane behind him to arouse some attention. "Sunil?" he called, "kam?" Sunil Sunil looked up from her journal irritably. People were always visiting when she was in the middle of an entry. She shut it with a sigh and tucked the pencil in to save her spot, before walking out into the hallway to see who was calling. She assumed it was probably Tosten, since he was the one always seeking her out, but then again it didn't sound quite like him. As soon as she got within sight of the window she stopped. Seamus was here to see her? What an interesting twist. She tensed and stodd her ground. "Look, its not my fault Ares and you aren't together anymore. What do you want from me?" Seamus Seamus blinked, not having expected that reaction, and took a step back defensively. "I-I know it's not your fault, Sunil. That's why I came. I... I need your help." he said, hesitantly. He hated to inflate her ego but it couldn't really be helped. Sunil Sunil put her hands on her hips and regarded Seamus with interest. "Alright, come on in. My lab is this way." Sunil turned and started to walk back down the hall to her closet, trusting Seamus to follow her. Seamus Fluttering off the windowsill to land on the floor, Seamus trod after Sunil cautiously. He was never perfectly comfortable in an unfamiliar place: he kept picturing some large, scary thing popping out of a corner somewhere. Sunil As soon as they entered her clost, Sunil hopped up on a box to sit. She guestured that Seamus was to do the same. She didn't bother giving him the tour, her lab was pretty self-explanatory. "So, what can I do for you? What exactly is it you would like me to do?" Sunil peered at him a little and sighed. "I suppose you want me to make your problem disappear?" Seamus Seamus followed her gesture to the indicated box. "For crying out loud, Sunil, give me some credit..." he paused and took a deep breath... Sunil was the last person he wanted to offend right now. "Sunil, I didn't come here for a service, I came for advice." Sunil "Oh." Well that was unexpected. Seamus never really acted like he thought she knew anything worth knowing. It looked like he had seen the error of his ways now though. "Advice on what?" It was obvious she was lost. Seamus Seamus looked up at Sunil, his face the picture of honesty. "I'm guessing you heard about what happened with Ares..." he began. Sunil Sunil shrugged. She had guessed more than heard. "I guessed. Ares is all grown up, you're not around... didn't take a genius to see what that might mean." Seamus Seamus nodded. "Yes, and now she's run off with Arturo." he paused to compose himself before continuing. "No one could ever do something like that to you, Sunil. You would just shrug it off. But for me, it hurts so much to see her break her promise... I need to know how to be like you, Sunil, how to let everything slide off of you. How it is that you don't get attached." Sunil Sunil nodded, Seamus had seen the light. "I would recommend getting back at her somehow, but I suppose you'll just want to move onto the next step." She paused and looked at him for confirmation. Seamus Seamus nodded. "It's tempting to get back at her but I think if I were to strike at anyone, it'd be Arturo... and he's too experienced for me to take on." Sunil Sunil tapped her chin with her right hand. If Seamus could be convinced of revenge, that could lead to a lot of fun. "I could help you take on Arturo. Between the two of us, we might be able to harm him. Especially if we surprised him. We'd have to train for a while first..." She trailed off, Seamus should know this would be hard work. Seamus Seamus thought about that for a moment. "And if we won?" he inquired. Sunil Sunil looked at him in disgust. "Ares would be hurt. She would feel the way you feel. You would have harmed the person she cares for. And she would have to assume she was next." It sounded good to Sunil, why did Seamus seem unsure? Seamus Seamus shook his head. "Look at the big picture. What about Arturo? He'd tell Corvus, and then we'd both get our heads handed to us." He tried to avoid discussing the possibility of hurting Ares. Sunil Sunil just laughed. "I suppose Corvus probably would come after us, but would he really kill us? Before we fought Arturo, I guess we could find out how critical he really is to Corvus." Seamus Seamus nodded. "You mean if we fought Arturo. Anyway, before we get carried away with the possibility of revenge, I still want to know how to keep from getting so attached in the future." Sunil Sunil leaned back on her elbows. "It is tough. I'm currently trying to wean myself from an attachment to Tosten. But I guess you just have to keep in mind that people are bad. You don't need them and if you do have them around they will just lead to you getting hurt. Friends are a weakness. If you keep that in mind at all times it will make it easier not to worry about people." She thought for a second. "And you should keep in mind that your needs come first. Never do anything for anyone unless there is something in it for you." Seamus Seamus pondered her words silenly for a moment. "Is that why you made yourself out as our friends? Because you could use us?" He wasn't trying to be hurtful or insulting, he just felt he should know. Sunil Sunil looked at him with interest. "Yes, I did. It seemed prudent to have "friends". Does that bother you?" Seamus Seamus grinned. "If I was to ignore the advice you just gave, it might bother me... if I paid attention, I understand." He paused and then, his curiosity getting the better of him, he looked at her inquisitively. "You said... you said earlier something about finding out how important Arturo was to Corvus... now you've got me wondering: how would you find something like that out, anyway?" Sunil Sunil snorted. "I would ask Corvus. If he lies and loses someone valuable to him, then its his problem. I assume he would just tell the truth though." Seamus Seamus nodded and leaned back on the box, bracing himself with his arms and turning the thought over in his head. To get back at Arturo for what he had done, and possibly show Corvus that he's more than just a brat... it was an intriguing concept, but risky. Seamus looked at Sunil. "I think... I think that might be a viable idea." Sunil Sunil grinned slowly and evilly. "Excellent. I can try and find Corvus to ask him. Depending on his answer we may have to reconsider. And he really seems to dislike you, so maybe I should keep you out of this for the time being." Seamus Seamus nodded. "Please do. The thought of Corvus still turns my stomach. Maybe if I just think of everyone being secretly his clone, I'll be able to avoid attaching myself more easily." he said, half-jokingly, half-seriously. Sunil Sunil nodded. Seamus had the right idea. "I will talk to him tomorrow. You should start to prepare yourself both mentally and physically for the eventuality of a fight. Also, you need to decide what level of anger from Corvus you are willing to accept as part of your revenge. Corvus is not a god. If we have to, we could fight him. Probably lose, but at least we would die fighting." Seamus Seamus did not look thrilled at the prospect of dying fighting. Corvus was an arrogant, self-absorbed recluse, not an enemy. Arturo was the one who had defiled his honour. "I would rather keep Corvus out of this as much as possible... though I imagine any action towards Arturo would draw him into it." Sunil Sunil considered Seamus's position. It made sense he only wanted to fight Arturo. "We'll see what Corvus says. You could always talk to Arturo." Sunil looked like the option was distasteful to her personally. "Although I have never understood what talking ever proved or solved. But You and Tosten were all about it before." Seamus Seamus nodded. "Well, yes... I thought since the whole thing was an accident that you might want to simply negotiate. Arturo, on the other hand... I doubt he did this accidentally." Sunil Sunil grinned. Perfect. "No, I assume he did it on purpose. I dislike people messing with my gang. We'll get him back. One way or the other. We can discuss details after I check with Corvus. His response may change our strategy." She yawned and looked at the door. This had really been quite the productive day. Perhaps it was time for Seamus to go? Seamus Seamus picked up on the suggestion behind her yawn. "Well, it's getting late. I'd best be going." He stood and stretched, took a few steps, then turned back to look at Sunil. "Sunil... can I ask another favour?" Sunil "You can ask." She nodded gracefully, like a queen to her subject. Seamus Seamus snickered briefly before his face turned serious once more. "Don't tell Proto I was here, please?" he asked. Sunil Sunil's eyebrows shot up. Why was Seamus out without permission from Proto? "I won't. I don't believe I'll run into him, so it shouldn't be a problem." Seamus Seamus nodded, running a nervous hand through his hair, which was looking even more unkempt than normal... in fact, he looked unusually bedraggled all over. "Thank you." he said, then turned and headed out into the hall. Sunil Sunil hopped down and followed him out to the window. "Seamus? If you need a place to stay... I'm sure Kam wouldn't mind. There are extra rooms." No point in having an ally die of pneumonia. Seamus Seamus looked back at her, one eyebrow raised. "I don't want to be a burden... I'll make do outside." he replied. Sunil Sunil shrugged. "Suit yourself. Just don't die. Some girl is hardly worth dying the cold." She turned and headed back to her closet. Seamus Seamus looked after her for a moment, thinking. Then he looked down at his reflection in the window. Sighing, he turned and followed after Sunil. "Wait..." he took a deep breath and sighed. "Maybe I should stay." Sunil Sunil turned, surprised. "Very well. We'll have to go bug Kam. She'll be peeved if we don't tell her." Sunil turned and started up the set of stairs near the window. "Kam? KAM?" She yelled while floating up in the direction of the attic, motioning for Seamus to follow. Kamtrouble Suddenly, the door at the top of the stairs opened and Kam peeked out. "You need something Sunil?" She looked at Seamus with a puzzled look on her face. What was he doing here? Sunil "Seamus needs to stay. Can he? I wanna move my bed down to the closet. You must have something he can use too." Kamrouble "Err.. yes sure. I'll bring down your bed and maybe a pillow and handtowel for a makeshift bed for Seamus?" Kam looked at Seamus to see if that was acceptable to him. Seamus Seamus nodded slowly. He couldn't help but be intimidated by the size of humans. "Anything's better than where I was going to go." he replied vaguely. Kamtrouble Kam looked at Seamus and Sunil suspiciously. Sunil was always causing trouble. Kam wondered briefly when and where she had gone wrong, but then ducked back into her room. She reappeared rather quickly with a small blue pillow and handtowel tucked up under her arm and Sunil's bed in her hand. "I'll just bring these down for you guys? Let me know if you need anything. Sunil knows where I keep most of the food you guys can eat easily." Kam walked down the stairs, carefully avoiding Seamus and Sunil, and walked into Sunil's closet where she placed the bed on one side and the pillow with towel on the other. She obviously didn't think they should be sleeping too close to eachother. Then she stood up, eyed the two of them, and walked back up into her room and shut the door. Sunil Sunil watched until Kam was gone and then turned to Seamus. "Ok, now you have a place to sleep. I have to finish writing in my jounal, but you can watch TV downstairs or read some books in the library. Just don't go in the basement. Despair lives down there and he doesn't like company." She flitted back into her lab and left Seamus to his own devices. Seamus Despair? Seamus' curiosity was piqued, but Sunil was gone. He would have to ask her later. But he didn't exactly feel like TV or reading... he had a better idea. He went to the closet and flopped down on the makeshift towel-bed, falling asleep in seconds.

In which Sunil sells out on Seamus Sunil Sunil stepped out onto the lawn of an unfamiliar house. She was incredibly intimidated by the size, since Kam's house was much smaller. She took flight to cross the distance to the door and landed in front of it. She raised a hand and as hard as she could tried knocking. She could only hope it was loud enough for someone inside to hear. Feyu Incredibly, someone did hear. The door opened, revealing a human, only not a human, for its ears were like a feien's. It was, in fact, an elf with golden blonde hair and warm brown eyes. He glanced around the door a moment before noticing Sunil on the ground. "That explains it," he said jovially. "Can I help you?" Sunil Sunil looked up at him for a few moments before taking flight again. She disliked looking up at people if she could help it. After winging her way up closer to the unknown person's face, she managed to speak like she did stuff like this everyday. It was clear from her rather wide eyes however, that she was a little intimidated by the situation. "I am Sunil. Is Corvus here? I'd like to speak to him." Feyu and Orriole The elf turned away from her and bellowed into the depths of the house "Corvy!" "I think he is on the back porch, Feyu," said a calm voice. Another elf stepped into view, shorter and fairer than the first. "Sunil... you are one of the ones he has allowed, I believe. Will you please follow me?" The pale elf smiled at her and motioned for her to enter into the living room. Sunil Sunil smiled. She had hoped Corvus would be willing to see her. She wondered how long she would be welcome given what she had come to ask. She fluttered past the person who had opened the door to follow the shorter one who obviously knew where Corvus was. Corvus They passed a small gaggle of people on a couch, all unfamiliar faces, and were ignored in favor on the ongoing conversation. Something about varieties of casserole. That subject was, of course, of no concern whatsoever to Sunil. "I am Orriole," said her guide, "visiting at the moment, but perhaps I should drop by the feien shop sometime. I have a great interest in your kind." They passed through a dining room and into the kitchen. Orriole opened the first of two doors leading to the back porch. Sunil Sunil looked around as her guide led her through the house. She had never been around quite so many people at once. She was both annoyed and relieved that she was ignored. When her guide spoke to her, Sunil started a little and looked up. She had drifted somewhere around her guide's waist, which she found to be a comfortable height. She worked her way back up closer to Orriole's neck before replying. "If you're interested in the feien, the shop would be the place to go. On any given day there are several of us around. Although I would imagine anything you have to ask could be answered by Simon or Corvus. They're the ones who study our genetics and such." Corvus "I try not to be a burden to Corvus, and have been too busy to speak much with Simon." Orriole opened the first door, and they moved into the laundry room. "I feel observation is the best way to learn, though." The second door opened and a gust of chilly wet air swept into the small room. "Here we are. Corvus? Are you present?" "Sunil," said Corvus, from some point unseen. He quickly dropped into view from the porch rafters. "Thank you Orriole, that will be all," he said dismissively. With a bow and a smile, the elf disappeared back into the house. The porch was L-shaped, screened, made of dark old wood, very dusty, and afforded a nice view of the overgrown backyard and garage. It was a distinctly unpleasant place. The boards, wet from recent rain, had a distinctive, pungent odor. There was a dirty wicker loveseat with a faded floral print cushion and a ceiling fan mounted to the rafters. Corvus crossed his arms expectantly, waiting for Sunil to deliver some sort of news. The faint smirk on his face suggested he expected the news to be good. Sunil Sunil wrinkled her nose at the smell and peered at Corvus. He looked pleased with something, which made her a little nervous. For all her big words to Seamus, she really didn't think any of them could take on Corvus. Swallowing her fear, she crossed her own arms over her chest and looked Corvus in the eye. She wondered about where to begin and considered working her way around to the central reason for being here, but looking at Corvus she decided against it. He would know she was dodging some sort of issue. Sunil decided to jump right into it. "Corvus, how important is Arturo to you? If someone were to attack him, would you feel bound to attack them in return?" Corvus That was not what Corvus expected. He jerked back an inch through the air in surprise and blinked at her. Then he swallowed. "I..." His mouth tugged into a frown and his brow furrowed. "Of course I would. Attacks on my allies cannot be tolerated." There did, after all, have to be some sort of benefit for putting up with all of Corvus's antics. Sunil Sunil frowned. This was gonna put a damper on her and Seamus's plot. Being confronted by Corvus himself her resolve to fight Arturo no matter what was fading. There were other people to fight. People who Corvus wouldn't feel the need to avenge. "Oh." Sunil uncrossed her arms and lowered herself down to stand on the damp boards of the porch. She sighed and looked down at her feet, which were now undoubtably filthy. "I had hoped you would be willing to overlook it. He did take Ares from Seamus." Corvus At that, Corvus bristled. "What!? Take Ares from Seamus?" His eyes went suddenly hard and dark. "Is that what that delusional twit is saying now?" Sunil Sunil looked up at Corvus in surprise. "Well, yes and Ares said she had outgrown Seamus when she grew up. It seems convenient right when she outgrew Seamus she grew into Arturo. I assume Arturo was there all along trying to get Ares to leave Seamus." Sunil clenched her fists as she looked out onto the back lawn. Ares's statements to her about no longer being bossed around still rankled. Corvus "What part of 'Seamus is a seriously unhinged feien' do you not understand?" demanded Corvus. "Ares outgrew Seamus? Ha! I'm not surprised. Perhaps she finally just came to her senses and realized the truth." Sunil Sunil glowered at Corvus. Seamus was a bit unbalanced, but at the moment she had control over him. He was her tool and she didn't want to be deprived of him. Unless she could trade for something better. "Perhaps. But I'm not speaking to Ares at the moment since she also outgrew me. I'm not particularly inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt." Sunil considered her next move carefully. She decided to stall for time with a side issue. "What do you know about shadow as an element for feien? I met one and she bothered me for some reason." Corvus "Forget that. So you were stilted," said Corvus, ignoring the attempt to derail the conversation. "Welcome to my life, Sunil. Or hadn't you noticed that every damn feien has a convenient excuse for tossing me away? And that most of those convenient excuses seem to stem from that git Seamus? And, when you think about it, now he's gone to work his magic on Ares? You're being used, you idiot. Just wait. Eventually you'll make Seamus cry and he'll turn the tables on you. It probably won't even be anything you really did. He's good at making things up." Sunil Sunil sighed again. Corvus had a point. Seamus was easy to control because he was vulnerable right now, but if she helped him he might not be so willing to rely on her. He had in fact in the past been as critical of her personality as Ares was now. She replied grudgingly. "I guess you have a point. But I hate to give up on a good fight. I was really looking forward to it. Seamus wouldn't even fight me back when I fought him and then Tosten got into the middle of it. But I suppose you already knew that." Corvus "You'd be surprised how little information one gets 'out in the boondocks,'" drawled Corvus. "Are you truly so desperate for a fight?" Sunil Sunil scowled and studied her feet. Corvus like everyone else apparently thought she shouldn't be fighting. "Well I haven't had a proper one and I would like to prove myself." Sunil flexed idly and looked at her muscles. "It seems a waste to be strong and never take advantage of that fact. How do you keep from using your magic to just get what you want all the time Corvus? Doesn't it bother you to know you could probably kill any of us at anytime and not do anything when people 'toss you away'?" Corvus "In the long run, people are worthless, and I care more about myself than them. They're not worth the effort." He was beginning to doubt Sunil was worth the effort, but kept that to himself. "What makes you think I could kill you?" Sunil Sunil nodded thoughtfully. Fighting people was a lot of effort. And so far she really hadn't gotten anything out of it. She didn't really like being wrong, but Corvus was pretty convincing. "You yourself said as a summoner feien you have much more magic than any of the rest of us do. I simply assumed as a result that you would be virtually impossible to beat." Corvus "Care to try?" he smirked. Sunil Sunil raised an eyebrow at him and took flight. She hovered up about even with him although not particularly close. "You want me to fight you?" Sunil grinned. What the hell? If she died at least it would be fighting Corvus. Sunil dug deep, fighting butterflies, and propelled herself towards Corvus with the intention of punching him in the stomach. Corvus Corvus wasn't quite prepared. Only his quick reflexes saved him as he darted to the right of her blow. He already knew that she was much stronger than he was. He had to try and keep her at a distance. Unfortunately, he doubted he could outrun her. If he teleported -- but no, that was completely out of the question, as it would leave him magically weakened, and he knew her magic to be almost as strong as his. But not quite. If he won, it would be thanks to his magic. He quickly brought up a shield between them. It would at least buy him precious time. Sunil Sunil rapidly fluttered her wings trying to stop her headlong flight past Corvus. He had obviously dodged her attack and now she had her back to him. She turned to face him as quickly as possible, hoping she would be able to deal with whatever he did next. It didn't look like he had done anything, but occured to her he might have done something magical. She switched on her magic detection and noticed he had put up a shield. Sunil grinned. "You taught me how to break shield Corvus. Why try and use it against me?" She pulled from her little resevoir of magic again and gathered it in her arm. Once again she sped towards Corvus, her eyes on the shield, ready to punch it with air burst. Corvus The shield held for the first punch at least -- barely. Corvus used that grace period to summon up the darkness from within and send it outward. The invisible sphere filled with an inky blackness through which no normal eyes could penetrate. It seemed to offer Sunil a choice break open the shield and release the darkness, or leave it be without a clue as to what spells might be forming inside. Sunil Sunil pulled her arm back and drifted away from the dark sphere. She didn't recognize the spell and occured to her she probably should have spent more time looking at spells in other elements. She knew she could break the shield eventually, but then she would be without eyesight. Presumably Corvus wouldn't have that problem, since he had chosen to summon the darkness. She considered carefully, if she didn't break the shield, he could drop it without warning. She decided to go for it. Breaking the shield was really the only move she could make at this point. Sunil drifted closer to the shield and got ready for another punch. She prepared to drop at least a foot if it broke. A moving target was hopefully harder for Corvus to hit. Corvus The shield burst open upon impact and the darkness billowed out. It formed a black cloud over the area, stretching out for a good eight feet in length and six in width, but perhaps only two and a half feet high. From a foot below her previous position, Sunil was halfway in the magical cloud. She could sense its magical nature but was not overwhelmed by it. Clear air beckoned below her, dark nothing pressed down from above. Sunil Overwhelmed by the darkness, Sunil closed her eyes. She didn't particularly like darkness, which was part of why she avoided the basement, but she was determined not to be scared by anything Corvus did. Fear would only slow her down. Feeling around in the darkness with her eyes closed, Sunil searched for a buncle of magic in one spot. Corvus had to be here somewhere. She felt something that seemed like him. It felt like the darkness, but more concentrated. She clenched her fists and sped towards it intending to tackle him. A punch wouldn't be any good since she couldn't be any more specific about his position than general location. Corvus Of course, Corvus could sense her coming. His magic detection gave him that. What he didn't have was enough time to fully dodge. Sunil hit him squarely in the side, knocking the wind from his lungs. He crumpled against the blow, reaching his hands out to grab onto her, reaching for something -- anything-- to latch on to. Sunil Sunil felt Corvus grabbing out for support and latched onto him. She attempted to shift their positions so that Corvus was below her and she altered her path to intersect with the floorboards of the porch. If she could keep Corvus below her long enough, she could crush him against the ground on impact. Corvus There was a sudden surge of power. As they plummeted, they left the dark cloud and the surge was revealed to be crackling dark energy. It danced over Corvus's body like sparks and flame. Sunil barely had time to notice this, as with a furious cry Corvus sent the full force of this dark energy surging into her body. Sunil Sunil screamed briefly as her entire body cried out in pain. She lost her hold on Corvus and dropped towards the ground, trying to curl into a ball. Corvus She never hit the ground. Though nearly balled up himself, Corvus had a hand out, levitating her. He squinted at her through the pain in his side. "Having-- fun-- yet?" he gasped. Sunil Sunil growled while floating a fetal position. "In a way, yes. But I won't deny I am in a lot of pain and that I seriously question why we're fighting." Corvus "Your idea," managed Corvus. "And if you can't beat me, what makes you think you can beat Arturo?" Sunil "You asked me to fight you." Sunil slowly started to straighten out. "And I would have Seamus to back me up against Arturo. Besides if you boss Arturo around, you must be stronger than him. Otherwise wouldn't he be in control?" Corvus Slowly, Corvus lowered them both to the dusty ground. "No, not necessarily. I am quite certain he could kill me if he wanted to, but I doubt if I could kill him. I'm simply in command because I gave him something and he owes me. He is sadly the only feien who seems to understand that idea." Sunil Sunil spread out, but stayed laying on the ground. She looked up and tried to ignore the pain she felt. "What did you give him?" Corvus Corvus, at least, was able to sit up. "The same thing I gave you. Life." Sunil Sunil rolled over, wincing and looked at Corvus. "So we're all supposed to serve you? We didn't ask you to make us. Besides, what is your purpose Corvus? What is it you have allies for?" Corvus There was a pause. Corvus looked disgusted for a moment, then collected himself and said, "I hardly think that's something I should impart unto you, of all people." Sunil Sunil chuckled and rolled back over to look at the ceiling. "Why not? You've already proved I can't stop you. Besides, if its sufficiently interesting, I'd help you." Corvus "No Seamus involvement," said Corvus sternly. "If I never have to see that deranged maniac again in my eternal life, I will die wishing I'd spent less time with him around." Sunil Sunil laughed briefly before coughing a little. She thought briefly and made a decision. "Fine. I can keep a secret from Seamus." Corvus He studied her carefully for a moment. "On top of my quest to achieve the aforementioned immortality, I intend to resurrect the High Council. As the recipient of their combined powers, I am the logical choice to do it," he said. Sunil Sunil rolled back over and propped herself up on an elbow. "Who the hell is the High Council? And do you mean ressurect as in "raise the dead"?" Her eyebrows were about as high on her face as they could possibly go. This was much more interesting than she had anticipated. Corvus "No, I mean resurrect as in recreate," sighed Corvus. He hadn't expected Sunil to interpret his words in such a childish fashion. "The High Council was the governing body of the feien before we came along. The greatest and wisest of all feien made up their ranks. They were the champions and the leaders of our people." Sunil Sunil made a face at Corvus. He was so impatient. No wonder he didn't like other people. Questions seemed to irk him. "So you plan to become immortal and rule over all of the existing feien? Who else are you planning to put on your council? Arturo, Simon, anyone else?" Corvus "I wasn't planning on either of them," said Corvus curtly. He went to cross his arms but at the twinge in his side decided against it. Sunil Sunil tried sitting up and made it into a lounging position. Her muscles felt like she had tried to run a marathon. "Were you planning on including anyone? Or is this going to be a council of one?" Corvus Corvus smirked. "That depends. In any event, that's a concern for the future. I have more pressing things to attend to at the moment." Sunil Sunil tried sitting up fully. "Is that a get the hell out of my house?" Sunil peered at Corvus curiously and flexed her wing muscles to see if they worked. "Anything you would like me to do? Or do you not trust me that much?" Corvus "Sunil," said Corvus flatly, "if there is one thing I beat into your head, let it be this you cannot trust anyone but yourself. Though, actually, perhaps there is something you can help me with. I had been trying to enlist Simon's aid, but he is unable to detect any magic." Sunil Sunil rolled her eyes. Of course she didn't trust anyone but herself. The question was whether Corvus did. "It seems to me like you must trust Arturo. You think he could beat you, but you trust in the idea that he owes you enough to not betray you. Anyway why do you need to detect magic?" Corvus "Pfeh," went Corvus to the first part, and then to the second "I'm trying to find some artifacts of a magical nature. This whole city has a vaguely magical buzz to it; I know there's something here to uncover, I simply can't pinpoint where it might be." Sunil "So you want me to hunt around in this area and find something magical for you? Any clues on how I'll know it when I find it?" Sunil scowled. She did not want to be on some magical goose chase. Corvus "It will be more magical than whatever it's buried under. I happen to need someone with a more physical-based element than mine to accomplish it; you can harness the power of the air around you. I can only work with shadows, which has so far not been of any help." Sunil Sunil pulled her knees up to her chest and lightly wrapped her arms around them. She grimaced as the position wasn't particularly comfortable, but didn't move. "So you want me to fly around this area and use my magic to find you a magical artifact. Then you want me to just bring it back to you with no explanation of what it is I'm bringing you?" Sunil sighed. Her curiosity was piqued. "Fine. I'll do it. Any final tips before I set out?" Corvus "Watch out for bats," he said, dead serious. Sunil Sunil gave Corvus a wide eyed look. "And owls too I suppose." She struggled to her feet and hopped a little to get in the air. She was glad to have a little magic left as her body still didn't really want to move. She floated in the direction of the door back into the house. Corvus "Not in there," corrected Corvus, "out there." He gestured at the yard, and presumably, the wide beyond. Sunil Sunil turned back around. "Right now? I don't even get to rest after we beat eachother up? You must really want whatever it is you would like me to find." Sunil floated back towards Corvus and then with a sigh the yard. Corvus "Wait, wait," went Corvus, waving for her to stop. He glanced at the house. With a flick of his wrist, he sent his magic hand knocking on the kitchen window. "We can at least relax slightly. You don't have any healing magic, do you?" Sunil Sunil lowered herself back down to the ground and looked at Corvus with relief. "Although I would like to right now, no I don't. I never really considered it important. With hindsight that was stupid." Corvus "I should learn some, especially given all the bruises I get." There was a loud creak; the back door opened and the elf from earlier poked his head out. "Yes, Corvus?" said Orriole. "We require refreshments, and some ice." He looked at Sunil. "Do you want anything in particular?" Sunil Sunil looked up at Orriole and wondered briefly what she was thinking and whether she had been watching them. "I am pretty partial to honey nut cheerios if you have any. No milk or anything. Just the cheerios. If not, then I have no particular dislikes. Anything should be fine." Corvus "Ah, honey," mused the elf as the door closed and he presumably went to fetch the requested items. Corvus shook his head. "It's a shame my house is still boxed up. Then we would truly be able to relax." Sunil Sunil looked at Corvus and sat back down. "Your house?" Corvus "Yes. I have a table, a trash can, some shelves, and a number of cushions which I made myself." Sunil Sunil looked at her feet and grimaced at how dirty they were. "Ah. I have a lab. I have some boxes that serve as both tables and chairs depending on my mood. I haven't tried sewing anything though. I just steal Kam's throw pillows. What did you make the shelves out of?" Corvus "Leftovers from a craft project Em had intended to do but never started. Popsicle sticks, she called them." Sunil Sunil laid back down on the damp porch and thought about her day. It was not what she had expected. She waved a hand in acknowledgment of Corvus's words, but chose not to respond. She closed her eyes and started to doze off. Corvus Just then, the door opened. It was Orriole. In his hand was a plate bearing tiny cheese slices, a small cup of Cheerios (presumably Honey Nut), a few grapes, some minutely-sliced pieces of apple, and a small cup of honey. "Corvus? There is someone else here to see you..." Arturo "Afternoon, Corvus," drawled a voice behind Orriole. Arturo appeared from behind the elf, red wings flapping idly, and he raised his eyebrows at Corvus. "Who's the blue girl?" Sunil Sunil opened her eyes slowly to the unfamiliar voice. Arturo? Crap! Sunil sat up and grabbed her head as all the blood rushed out of it. "I am Sunil. I am sure given your relationship with Ares that you've heard my name." She glowered in Corvus's direction. Had he known her plans ahead? How? More importantly what was the fastest way off the porch. She started glancing around, while trying not to look too nervous. Corvus "Afternoon, Arturo," went Corvus, more concerned with the contents of the plate than either of the other feien. Arturo Arturo's keen eyes noticed Sunil's shifty looks, no matter how much she tried to mask it, but he said nothing. Instead, he simply ignored the blue feien and addressed Corvus, "I came to see how you were and just report a few events events around the shop." Sunil Sunil stayed where she was. It appeared Arturo had come on an unrelated matter. She didn't let down her guard completely, but relaxed a little and glanced in the direction of the cheerios. Fighting was hard work and she was hungry. She decided to remain silent as well. Maybe if they didn't notice her they would talk as if she wasn't there. Corvus The plate was placed on the floor and the feien left to their affairs. Corvus spent some time considering his options before replying to Arturo. He picked out a slice of apple and dipped it in some honey. "Let's hear it, then," he ordered. Arturo Arturo sighed and landed on the floor, next to the plate. "Well, I suppose I should start with the good news. You know that Ares and Seamus were a couple?" He didn't wait for Corvus' reply. "Well - they're not. Anymore. She's," Arturo paused to clear his throat. "With me instead. And she grew up." Corvus "Well congratulations," went Corvus, raising his piece of honey-dipped apple in a toast. He smiled almost cruelly, predatory eyes on Sunil. Sunil Sunil rolled her eyes in Corvus's direction. "He already knew that Arturo. I told him. Seamus and I were planning on attacking you." She stood up and wobbled over to the cheerios for a snack. She picked a couple up and wobbled back to her former spot and sat down to eat. Arturo Arturo raised an eyebrow. A look of amusement briefly crossed his face before disappearing again. "Were you now?" he said placidly, stooping to pick up his own cheerio. Then he frowned and tossed the Cheerio to another hand. "I don't know why you would attack me. I don't even believe we're acquainted." he said, shrugging. Sunil Sunil finished her first cheerio before responding. "No, we're not. Does that really matter?" She looked over at Arturo with a genuine look of curiosity at his response. Arturo "I suppose not." Arturo replied with another shrug. He then eyed Corvus for a moment and snorted. "And you were informing the summoner of your plans?" Sunil Sunil giggled. "I asked Corvus for permission. I didn't want to have to fight him after you if Seamus and I succeeded." She grimaced. Arturo Another snort. "You wouldn't have." Corvus "I told her as much," stated Corvus. He practically inhaled his piece of apple and went for his favorite spectator sport next the grape. While he was reaching for it, the back door creaked open once again. Orriole Orriole bent down, placing a cup of iced water on the floor next to the plate. He smiled apologetically at Corvus for the delay. Corvus ignored the gesture and Orriole was gone as quietly and quickly as he had come. Corvus "The thing is," said Corvus as he pierced the skin of the grape with his fingers, "I fail to see the reason behind your attacking Arturo. He's done nothing against you specifically, Sunil. You should be smarter than to involve yourself in other people's wars." Sunil Sunil watched Corvus eat with a vague expression of curiosity. "I was mad at Ares and Seamus provided an excuse to get at her through Arturo." Sunil shrugged and munched on another cheerio. Corvus "And wouldn't you know, there he is again, our little pal Seamus, who of course couldn't possibly be so bright or so devious as to be manipulating everyone into his clutches," snorted Corvus. He pulled out a handful of juicy grape innards and slurped at them, the dark purple juice rolling down his chin. Arturo Arturo watched on in obvious disgust. "I hope you washed your hands before eating that grape," he muttered, rolling his eyes. "I don't honestly believe Seamus has anyone in his clutches. People realize that he's just... not right for them." He sighed and shrugged. Sunil Sunil also stared at Corvus in fascination and disgust. She felt bad for the grape, being disembowled in such a manner. "Corvus, that is disgusting. Could you make any more of a mess? And Seamus is hardly an evil genius. I think you're projecting." Corvus "Humph," went Corvus, wiping his mouth with the sleeve of his toga. Of course, he had to trail the toga sleeve into the honey while he was doing it, creating a sticky mess in the process. He stared at the sleeve a moment, amused. "Perhaps genius is a stretch, but he is certainly a manipulative, deranged, unhinged, annoying, jealous, pathetic, underhanded, foul, vengeful, vindictive, clever, misleading, deceitful, deceptive..." Apparently, Corvus had a long list of words to describe Seamus. Arturo "Single," Arturo added. He took a bite of his Cheerio. Corvus "Pigheaded, dirty-eared, over-reacting, emotional, crybaby, nitwit, sad excuse for a feien," finished Corvus. "And did I mention he's insane?" Sunil Sunil had run out of cheerios and set her hands in her lap with a sigh. "Yes I believe you have." She turned to Arturo and glared at him. "I certainly hope that dislike of Seamus wasn't a deciding factor in your decision to pursue a relationship with Ares." Arturo "I hardly know Seamus in all honesty. I hold nothing against him, and I don't blame him for having a grudge against me." Arturo replied honestly. Sunil "Good." Sunil looked over at Corvus again, but continued talking to Arturo. "I think we've killed the topic of Seamus. Any other news from the shop?" She reclined and looked towards Arturo with interest. Arturo "I don't recall having to report to you, girl," Arturo replied levelly. Corvus Corvus laughed. It was, as usual, not a pleasant laugh, some sort of a combination between a hyena and a seizure. His honeyed sleeve trailed over the floorboards, picking up dust and dirty debris. "This," he chortled, "makes getting up worthwhile." He waved for the two of them to continue their bickering. Arturo "My fondest wish has been fulfilled. I'm so glad to have pleased you." Arturo said, deadpan. Sunil Sunil scowled in Corvus's general direction. "I am not here for your amusement, " she huffed. Corvus The laughter subsided into another handful of messy grape. "Could have fooled me," remarked Corvus. "In any event, isn't there anything else to report?" The handful of grape made its way to Corvus's mouth, where it enjoyed a brief moment of total terror before being squashed into edible oblivion. Arturo "Not really," came the reply. "I mainly stopped by to see how you were. Besides poor-mannered." Sunil Sunil laughed. "Were you hoping he had choked on a grape in your absence? I'm amazed he hasn't." Sunil gave Corvus an innocent look and mimicked his earlier guesture to her and Arturo. "Please do continue eating. It amuses me." Corvus Corvus stuck out a purpled tongue at her and did just that. Arturo "Children," Arturo drawled, eyeing the pair. "None of us are juveniles here. Let's not act it. And no, I was not hoping he had choked on a grape. Amusing as the thought may be." A smirk. Corvus Corvus pantomimed flicking a cheese square at Arturo and leaned back. "Oof!" he exclaimed as his elbow hit the hard floor. He rubbed at it with a sour expression on his face. "Yes, well, glad to see you're still alive, too, Arturo. In any event, does that conclude the actual business portion of today?" Arturo "Indeed it does." Arturo replied, shrugging. "Shall I go?" Corvus "There's plenty of food," noted Corvus. Sunil Sunil stood up and walked back over to the cheerios. She took a couple more and with an eye on Corvus sat near them. "What happens if you get too fat to fly Corvus?" Corvus "I beg your pardon!" Corvus retorted. He waved his hand at the cup of ice, levitating a piece next to him so he could press it against his side. Corvus "I hardly think a feien with my physique, magic use, and metabolism has to worry about that. I can scarcely keep weight on as it is." Sunil Sunil snorted, but said nothing further. Corvus's use of ice on his side had reminded her of the shock of energy she had received earlier from their fight. She concentrated on her cheerios. Arturo "So what were your plans for revenge? Corner me and attack?" he asked, smirking. Sunil Sunil eyed Arturo past her cheerio. "I don't think I need to disclose the specifics of my plan with you. But to be honest, it wasn't that detailed since Corvus hadn't been consulted. Neither Seamus nor I really wanted to fight Corvus over you." Corvus "There you go again!" railed Corvus, dramatically knocking over the honey cup. He paid it no heed. "Seamus, Seamus, Seamus. Just what is it with you in him? Are you in love with him?" Sunil Sunil laughed at both Corvus's question and actions. "I don't believe in love, " she said quite seriously. "But Seamus was my co-conspirator and if you're going to ask about my plan to attack Arturo then Seamus was involved. Why are you always talking about him? Are you in love with him?" Sunil sighed, what a stupid question. Corvus was obviously insane. Arturo "Do you two know what the word 'civil' means?" Arturo snorted. He idly stared at the honey as it oozed across the floorboards. "I'm think I'm going to head back. No point in sticking around if you're just going to argue." Corvus Corvus was able to contain his anger long enough to allow Arturo to speak, but no longer. "I'll have you know that twerp ruined a large part of my life and I won't rest until I see him crushed and driven out of the shop the way I was." Arturo "No one drove you out of the shop to my knowledge. You'd probably be well-received if you returned to the shop." Arturo reasoned. Corvus "I sincerely doubt that!" said Corvus crossly. Sunil Sunil gave Corvus the kind of look you give to a spoiled two year old. "How would you know? You haven't been there in forever have you? Half of the feien who frequent the shop don't even know who you are." She grimaced before adding, "Arturo is right." Corvus Corvus considered that, rolling a grape seed around his mouth. Then he spat it out. "I fail to see how that is possible. But I'll wait for Simon's report on the matter." Sunil Sunil sighed at Corvus and stifled a yawn. "Should I stay and look for your magical artifact or go and come back another time Corvus?" Arturo "And I should be going." Arturo said, standing. "Puchiko needs help with the baby. ... Actually, mind if I spend the night here? I can't take the screaming anymore." Corvus "I'd heard a bit about that from Em... Of course you may." Corvus sighed. He probably wasn't going to get Arturo to help him look for dead feien gems. "Sunil and I simply have some business to attend to first. Make yourself comfortable, and if you need anything, yell and Orriole will be happy to assist you." Arturo "Thank you," Arturo replied, settling back down. "Much appreciate it." Corvus Corvus stood and looked to Sunil. "Let's be off, then." Sunil Sunil stood and attempted to brush herself off a little. She nodded at Arturo and walked towards Corvus. "Alright, let's go!"

[This is supposed to be the home of an RP that occurred between Tosten, Seamus, and Sunil. The end result was that Seamus moved out. This RP was never really finished and has been lost. o_0]

In which Sunil talks to her diary So, I went to visit Corvus. I originally went with the intent of obtaining some sort of permission for Seamus and I to attack Arturo without repercussions from Corvus. As I should have expected, Corvus was very against the idea, especially once he learned Seamus was involved. (Corvus seems to have a thing about Seamus.)
Corvus and I ended up fighting. I scored a hit on him surprisingly, but then he shocked me with some sort of energy. I guess I would call it draw, but if we had continued he would have had the upper hand. To fight him properly I'm going to have to learn shield and possibly some sort of healing magic.
Then Corvus revealed his rather ambitious plans to me (More about that later.) and I asked if I could assist. He did have something in mind (More about that later as well.), but first we relaxed after fighting. Arturo showed up and I worried Corvus somehow had invisible spies in my house, but it turned out he had just come to gloat over his acquisition of Ares. Arturo really isn't all that bad, but he is in pretty thick with Corvus.
I returned home much later after conversing with Corvus and Arturo and assisting Corvus in some sort of magical treasure hunt.
Blah, blah, blah about Seamus and Tosten.
Since I cannot guarantee that you will never fall into enemy hands, I am not going to reveal my most secret thought and plans even to you diary. What follows is everything I can't tell anyone in my own secret code.

In which Sunil discovers the real Quantel and puts together part of the puzzle... I met Quantel in the shop again today. As I suspected she is not the shy flower she tried to portray herself as. We have a tenuous potential alliance between us. I look forward to see what use I can find for her in my plans for the future.
And I figured out some of the stuff I was missing. It doesn't make a complete picture yet, but I better write down what I know. More secrets diary.

Sunil Ah, I haven't written here in quite some time. To be honest I have had a lot on my mind and I wasn't sure I felt like writing any of it down. My plans for the future are still largely abstract. I know what goals I need to accomplish to realize some of my dreams, but not how to achieve those goals exactly.
And other dreams, that I didn't even know I had until I really sat down and thought about it, I have no idea how to realize. I have some things I just don't know how to do. I will have to think further on them, although since they involve matters of the heart and not matters of intellect I am not sure what good thinking about them will do other than frustrate me.
I haven't done much with other feien since Seamus left, but I did have a couple interesting encounters. To begin with I met two new feien.
One of them is a yellow female named Tempest. Her element is lightning, which I think will be very interesting to observe when she learns how to work it. Also, she has a tail. I tried pulling on her tail when I met her and I realized that while she doesn't look it, she is actually quite strong. I think her rather naive personality is a little endearing. Like Tosten except not quite so energetic. I hope I get to see more of her.
The other feien I met, whose name still escapes me, is a red heat feien like Maquinar. I actually saw him again today and he had made himself a weapon. He called a glaive I believe. His description of how it worked and its appearance reminded me of the weapon death is fabled to wield in popular media. I have to say these young feien would make a magnificent army given some direction and training.
Seeing the weapon this young feien had made got me thinking that perhaps I should have a weapon. I have relied on my fists to get me along just far, but I think we both know diary that given my ambitions I probably should consider adding to my arsenal. I haven't the faintest idea what kind of weapon would suit me though. I shall have to talk further with this heat feien or Maq about weapons. Perhaps one of them would have a couple suggestions.
I also met Quantel again recently. To be honest, just thinking about the encounter makes me feel a little cold. The air around her isn't actually cold, but something about her expression and the manifestation of her element make me feel cold. She said something to me about some of the young feien having potential as "Knights". I am assuming that she spoke of Maq, but I can't be sure. I wonder what she thinks of me? I look forward to speaking to her again. I really must meet with Maq and finally pin down plans for our raid on Tera's locked drawer.
Also, Kam has been acting very odd for the last few days. She keeps dodging me around the house and has been locking the door to her room. I wonder what she is up to? I never thought of her as particularly devious, but obviously something is up.
Finally, along with my daily exercise routine, I have been trying to practice my magic. After my fight with Corvus it occured to me that shiled would be an extremely useful spell to have. During my meditation time under my bonsai, I have been envisioning my magic ballooning out into a sphere around me. So far, I haven't been able to get it much beyond my midsection, but I believe with continued effort I should be able to control it. Perhaps I'm concentrating too much. I did have that problem while learning grow from Corvus before my fight with Seamus. Next time I shall try to simply let the magic flow rather than force it and see if that gives me greater success.~Sunil

Kam Ah dear journal, I have been neglecting you haven't I? Well, for a while there it honestly seemed like I had nothing of value to add to you. I was pretty stressed out with final exams and projects and I had nothing fun or exciting in my life.
But enough of that. I am past all of that now and I have exciting news. I have managed to obtain another feien blossom! In fact one of Ares and Arturo's blooms no less. I have been keeping this a secret from Sunil, at first because I wasn't sure if I would actually be the one to get the bloom, but after a while it occured to me that Sunil might not be the best playmate for a brand new bloom. She means well I think, but she has a bit of a mean streak at times.
I'm so excited! I can't wait to see what the new feien is like. I hope we get a long a little better than Sunil and I do.~Kam

Sunil I finally figured out what Kam was being so secretive about. A new bloom. I was very excited when I found out, but she won't let me touch it, so really I'm not as excited as I was.
On the plus side, I have mastered shield. It isn't perfect yet, so I'll have to keep practicing. I need someone to throw stuff at it while I hold it. I've looked up some blueprints in a dictionary and I'm going to need to go to the store soon to get supplies. I plan to rig up a catapult of some sort to help me strengthen my shield. Unfortunately I have no way to throw magic at the shield while I practice holding it. Hopefully strength is strength.
Also, I believe I have become more aware of my own magic. I can only hope that extends to other feien's magic eventually. It could be quite useful.~Sunil
