Tenar continued his paced galloping, beating against the silence with his hooves. He leaped over small ditches and scattered branches as he tried to catch up to everyone else, although he didn't want them to know he was right behind them.

He slowed to a trot, licking his sticky fingers as he did. He could still taste the pastry glaze that caked the back of his teeth.

He looked up as he leaped passed two Constellations -- one draped in red and holding a harp, and another who was blindfolded.

Tenar called behind as he sucked on one of his fingers, "You two better get a move on if you want to get those heart pieces!"

He increased his speed, leaping and disappearing into a thicket of graying leaves.

User ImageUser ImageHaveni didn't answer. She stood in the middle of the dark chamber, her head lowered a little, as if staring to the ground, her back turned to Avantea, Girisha and Kliment.

Beyond her was only a darkness, a dark so thick nothing could be seen from it. There was dead silence in the chamber, but then, the sound of chains sliding against each other could be heard near where Haveni stood, but Haveni was not moving.

"Are you going to kill me, too?" she murmured, softly.
"Are you going to kill me, too?" murmured another, identical voice, aligned with hers, as if she was speaking dually.

There was a slight, somewhat sinister chuckle beyond where Haveni stood. Though, it sounded just like her, but she did not move.

"This was where I died, here...in the dark."
"This was where I died, here...in the dark."

Everytime she spoke, it was as if another, somewhere in the room, spoke the same exact way she did.

There was a snap of chains, and they clattered to the floor. Haveni seemed to wake up from whatever trance she was in, holding onto her head. Confused, she turned to face the others, as if to say something, but nothing came out of her mouth, as her eyes widened in fear. She could feel hands wrapping around her from behind, and indeed there were a pair of them that did so.

A bone-chilling scream escaped her as she jerked away from whatever was there, her breath catching heavily in her throat as she turned to see before her a figure nearly identical to herself. She was breaking the chains off of her, which were wrapped around her throat and wrists, enough to have left bleeding wounds there. One eye's sclera was black, and her eyes were a dull grey, as if she were dead. She giggled very softly, stepping out of the darkness.

Rylia breathed as she stood there, the corner of her eye catching movement. She looked towards Harou as he seemed to be making gesturing movements...towards the village perhaps. She blinked as she looked at him, watching as he bowed his head. She wondered if something was wrong and was about to ask before he spoke. "Go back....and look at village?..." she asked him, trying to be sure that is what Harou meant. If of course, he actually meant he wanted them to go back as in where they were surely safe.

He froze.

He didn't realize he was gripping Girisha's arm tightly, his own way of seeking comfort in the situation. It was positively eerie; damn, it was more than eerie. A second voice, the woman acting so strangely, and his breath caught in his throat, his chest tight. Was something wrong with his ears, or was there another woman in the room? He would soon have his answer.

Stammering, he managed a choked whisper.

"W-what... the hell... is that?" Instinctively, he brought Girisha behind himself, determined to shield him from the... duplicate.

Something very ominous within the air stopped Rhyme, her surprise at the passing blur was decreased by the chill that seemed to take over the air. She jerked away from the cave she was about to head in, backing away. Her instincts cried to her not to walk into that cave, stopped a safe distance outside the cage. At least, she thought it was safe. She shut her eyes, beads of sweat, her eyes straining to see if anybody would walk out of the cave.

Instinctively, she clutched her harp much tighter, refusing to stay inside as a crystal stump formed for her to perch herself on. Perhaps she would stay here instead. Her body tensed, guard up, as if a battle might ensue.

Better get a move on... Azra'iel gave a silent snort. Try moving quickly when one has vowed to see only with the heart. Forests were not friendly when one did move move slowly and cautiously. Especially silent ones.

Having reached the clearing where he thought the sounds had originated, Azra'iel paused. There was no sound now, nothing he could use to see what was occurring. The temptation was there to remove the wrappings from his eyes but that would be disregarding a vow and he knew he would never do it.

Suddenly there was a surge of something horribly evil from the Tree in front of him. Azra'iel froze, incapable of moving for the moment.

He shrugged a shoulder again, tail flicking worriedly. Something about the forest seemed so... off. He could feel it now, stronger than ever, a presence, something dark. Darker than night. It was coming from the forest, and he certainly didn't want to be there.

Shaking his head, he brought the heels of his palms up to his face, rubbing his closed eyes with them.

"I am worried," he confessed, looking out over the forest. "Do you feel it?"

Avantea had noticed that they'd been followed, but she was too distracted by what was happening to Haveni to pay any attention to Kliment and Girisha.

"Ha-Ha-Haveni?" she croaked weakly as she heard the dual voice for the first time. Was this the monster they had always been told about? Avantea never witnessed the particular event herself, for she'd descended many generations later, and therefore all her knowledge was based on stories that had been passed down.

Who was this creature, who bore such a resemblance to Haveni? It was as if they were twins, almost. Or more like.. the same person, only.. this ghostly apparition had none of the purity that Haveni held, and in its stead there was nothing but malice...

The storyteller was now frozen on her feet, her eyes wide with fear as she stared.

Towards the forest, he felt something unleashing. A terrible darkness, something not to be named, perhaps…

Shaking his head, he headed back to the village as Harou had gestured. Another purr vocalizing itself in agreement. While they could stand and stare at the strange grass, it wasn’t something that interesting. Besides, the stares of the village felt better than the strange feeling from the forest.

Evil, he thought, something evil has come. We should not stick around to allow it to find us.

Girisha had let Kliment push him behind his body, but he whimpered the whole time. He felt as if there was a horrible power with them. He was scared beyond belief and couldnt get ahold of himself. He knew there was another in the room with them even without looking but he was so terrified he dared not look for fear of seeing what was giving him the horrible feelings.

Girisha shook his head while whimpering and tried to hide himself in Kliment's back. "Scared..... Bad..... Scared." He couldnt manage to say more.

A piercing scream in the distance drew his attention away from the path he sped across for a brief moment. Out of curiosity, Tenar turned his head in the direction of the sudden noise, but his eyes were met with only the depressing scenery of graying forest. He faced forward once more, and before he realized he was heading straight for a tree, he slammed into it, somersaulting into the air, then coming to a rolling stop on the ground.

A dull thudding coasted around his skull. The sky above him spun. Tenar cupped his eyes with hands to make the forest stop teetering back and forth, but the dull throbbing continued on. He moaned some, rubbing at his forehead where the pain was quickly rushing in.

Rylia frowned as she looked at Aeos and Harou. Something was going on in the forest. She was curious just what was happening, but at the same time, was too afraid to go find out what it was exactly. She walked slowly back towards and into the village with the two, but then came to another stop, gazing back.

User ImageThe other Haveni stepped forward, her shoulders slightly slumped, her arms dangling to her sides, her movements lethargic at first, like one drugged.

"I waited in here, so long." She continued her slow steps toward the group. As she came more into the dim light, her long, pale hair began to move about her, as if blown by a breeze which didn't exist. The underground seemed to rumble in response, stones loosening and falling down from the walls. "I waited...and waited....in this dark."

Haveni backed against Avantea's legs, turning and using her arm to struggle back to her feet. "Why do you look so much like me?!" she was terrified, but trying desperately to confront this...whatever it was. Though she was frightened beyond all reason, she was also...intrigued by whatever it was.

The other paused, as if dumbfounded she didn't know. "I was once Haveni. But they...the people of this wretched village...killed me, and now, I am Ruin. And..you..are me." A laugh escaped her lips, as if it were a devious ploy. She kept slowly approaching them, menacingly, driving them to the exit, where Ruin finally stepped out of the darkness, and into the light. The ground around her, though already dead, seemed to die even more once she touched it, and she only laughed horribly, as the plague aura manifested in her.

Using one hand to shield his eyes from unwanted light, Harou surveyed the village, still feeling weighed down by a strange sense of unease. He couldn't shake it, no matter how hard he tried. It felt as if no place were safe, although the village was certainly the lesser of two evils, so to speak.

When Rylia stopped he looked over his shoulder, brow furrowing.

To be honest, he didn't know what terrified him more. The possibility that this woman before them was the 'vengeful spirit' - she seemed vengeful enough, that much was certain - or the fact that she was killing everything around her. Nonetheless, he acted quickly, backing immediately away from her and taking Girisha with him. He was careful not to trip the other, keeping an arm back and glued to the twilif's arm.

Terrified. Terrified. Terrified. He was terrified. He had never experienced anything this horrifying before, and now, because of his foolishness, Girish would be taken down with him. Voice strained, he whispered, "Girisha... run!" He remained where he stood, unable to tear his eyes away from the 'other' Haveni.

Or perhaps it was that his legs would not move. Frozen. Frozen in fear. He had never felt it so strongly.
