Hmmm favourite or biggest influences?
Because on my playing, my biggest influences are probably Erik Mongrain, d**k Dale and Mike Einziger.
Usually in bands I'm in, we have just one guitarist, me, so I'm more of a guitarist that plays to fill a lot of soundspace, which is where the Erik Mongrain and Mike Einziger influences come in, because Erik Mongrain has lots of notes going at once from his arpeggios, and Mike Einziger usually combines single notes and chords.
The d**k Dale influence is usually in instrumental sections, where there's a good, strong bass riff and drum going on inthe background so that I can play a bit more sparsely. Actually, there's a good chunk of Buddy Guy or Hendrix influence, because I like to improvise.
I think that I've been influenced more by jazz or jazz fusion guitarists. I consider myself to be a jazz guitarist, in rock bands. I have a distaste towards power chords and the pentatonic scale (Otherwise Tom Morello would be one of my favourite guitarists. I like his effects, but I don't like the scale he ALWAYS uses).
But my favourite guitarists would be those guys, and Omar Rodriguez Lopez. But he doesn't have as much influence, because even though he's one of my favourite, I don't really want to play like him. I like him as a musician, not as much as a guitarist, I suppose.

My biggest influence: Lori Linstruth. She and Britt Lightning amazingly skilled women, right up there with the men I find inspirational. (Al Pitrelli, Angus Clark, Angus Young, Joe Perry, etc.)
They're inspirational because they are woman who realize that playing guitar is a lot more than just strumming a few chords. They dedicate themselves to their craft.

That reminds me, Kaki King is also one of my influences. I think she's my favourite female guitarist.
I like the finger picking style, but I can't really play it...I just use the multiple layers of sound they have.

Definetely Synyster Gates. His technicality in his riffs and solos is undeniable.
There's also Dimebag, Tom Morello, Kurt Cobain, Billy Joe Armstrong, and Brian May.
Kurt and Billy Joe are the masters of the power chord, Dimebag designed an entirely new playing style, with different ending styles for solos. Tom, well... Try DJing on a guitar. XD Brian May is just an amazing blues guitarist. I would put on Jimi Hendrix, but people put him on too many times.
