"Pleasure" Garret said standing up straight again and then releasing her hand. Shortly after he put his fedora back on and taking his seat once again. He took another sip from his tea cup realizing now that he was out again. He gently set his cup down on the table. The shadows somewhat covered his eyes once again which he used this advantage from the rim of his fedora to somewhat examine Scarlett. Over all she was an average person. Judging by how she handled herself she was raised not to step out of her own bounds, although still to speak for herself it was still more so controlled. Almost as if, to hide one self in order to appease a certain crowd. Most of this told him more then likely she was raised in a more so rich environment, however with the lack of being demanding for satisfaction it was seemingly clear she wasn't rich herself but more so a maiden. He caught the small glimpse of being slightly surprised by his actions which only pushed for him to believe it's not often someone treats her as an equal if not more. He thought over this for a moment, if he was incorrect it was only a shock to her that he acted so abstractedly due to his mysterious nature. "Miss Tarleton, how is the maiden life doing?" Garret said in such a way to actually impose two questions in the form of one to get the answer he wanted. Was she the princess or the maiden to it. He knew that if she was a maiden, she would almost act surprised he figured it out and simply say something near 'it's fine' or ' it can be tough but it pays the bills'. If she was the princess she would only answer through 'good help is hard to find'.

((oh geeze I've been thinking it was in modern-ish times too 0_0 uh oh)) "Well I suppose it would be best to tell you my name too. If you don't already know, I'm Lacey Drakes. It's been a while since I've attended the ball." Shivered a bit and pulled up her shawl. She tucked her feet under her. Maybe she should have put some socks on before she came downstairs. In her peripheral vision, a loose curl on the side of her face caught her attention. She licked her finger, re-curled the curl, and tucked the curl behind her ear. She poured herself another cup of tea and put 4 spoons fulls of sugar, a dollop of honey, and a squirt of lemon.

(Sorry, we should have clarified about the time! And Grim, I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but Scarlett is not royal, nor does she work. I would hazard a guess at her family being old traditional English nobility, similar to Wesley and Sam's characters I would think. Her character is based loosely on that of Scarlett O'Hara from Gone with the Wind, which is my favorite book of all time.)

Scarlett was unsure what to make of his question. "I beg your pardon, Mr. Asgard?" she asked. She brushed a wayward strand of hair of her dark hair out of her eyes and looked at him questioningly. "And Miss Drake, it's a pleasure to meet you," she said, addressing Lacey in her lilting, melodic voice. She took a sweeping glance around the room again, as was her habit, to survey the people in the area and make sure she wasn't missing anything important. The majority of the crowd was being led into the kitchens and down a stairway to the secure area beneath the house, an area originally intended to protect inhabitants from robbers and inclement weather. A very harassed looking waiter was explaining to the scant group that remained that there was no more room below and they would simply have to stay in the ballroom. Scarlett turned her attention back to the conversation at the table, but her mind was elsewhere.

Emerson turned back to Tanya with a look of mingled surprise and amusement on his face. With the dawning comprehension that she mistook his interest in the table across the room for being bored with her company, the look shifted to one of understanding. He smiled gently, knowing she was probably vaguely irritated with him. He often found that women were irritated with him, but not a one had ever let that stop him. "Miss Allers, I believe you want to go over to them as badly as I do. And I would imagine that it has absolutely nothing to do with Miss Tarleton," he said, leveling the playing field.

Tanya eased up as Emerson smiled at her. "Why, yes. I would like to go over to them," Tanya replied, giving no comment about what Emerson had said about Scarlett. She looked at the man and was just in time to see him remove his fedora and place it back on. She bit her lip, deciding if she should go over to them or remain where she was."But, they seem to be in deep conversation. We might be disturbing them," Tanya said with a slight frown, letting Emerson make the decision for her.

(oh sorry, my character is a critical thinker and analysis. He has a habit of studying people and how your character was portrayed he assumed what he said lmao.)
Completely ignoring what she had said he immediately she wasn't what she had seemed. He could tell her mind was wondering but she still hid a lot of things. He remained quiet for the time being listening to the other girl give out her name. He repeated the same gesture he gave Scarlett to Drake.

Emerson looked at her with a bemused expression, wondering if all women were so proper as to always let men make decisions for them. He nodded, agreeing with her statement. "We might," he said, "But I really don't care. Let's go." He stood and they crossed the ballroom that was now almost empty. Emerson walked casually up to the small table and pulled up two chairs from another nearby, first offering one to Tanya, then taking the other. "Good evening, I hope you don't mind us joining you," he said, grinning wickedly.

"Well, I sure don't mind, but Mr. Sour puss over there might He doesn't like people invading his territory." Lacey stuck her tongue out at Garrett. "And yes, this is me being mature." Lacey took another sip of tea. She eyed Garrett again. She doubted Garrett was his real name.

Garret took his seat not really paying much attention to the girl not showing much liking to him. He noticed two new people, male and female near the table now. He open palmed a gesture for them to take a seat. His hat was still tipped somewhat lower letting some shadows block his face a bit to the new comers. He sipped his newly refilled tea.

Scarlett shook her head slightly at Lacey's remarks and then proceeded to glare at Emerson before sitting back in her seat rather haughtily and ignoring his presence.

Tanya was just about to take a seat when she heard Lacey's remark. She quickly stood up again saying, "Oh. I'm sorry. I could go if you like..." She didn't want to go, but it would do no good if she wasn't welcome.

"Oh no no no, I would love for you to sit here. I think it would be nice to get more lively company." Lacey downed the rest of her tea, slammed the empty cup on the table, and shattered the teacup. Lacey gasped. "Oops, I guess I don't know my own strength."

Scarlett stared at Tanya for a moment, then jumped in shock when Lacey smashed a cup. She looked at Lacey, curious. Shaking her head slightly, she stood up and pushed her chair in. With an enigmatic smile, she walked away from the table, exiting from the ballroom and going out the front doors. Even though the gates were locked, the doors weren't. She sat on an ornate iron bench while she tried to arrange the thoughts in her mind into some kind of logical explanation for everything.
