I just received a PM from LabTech957 and invited me over to his house to check out his new Home Internet Theatre System. I can't believe it, that's soo cool.
The day is getting better by the minute! biggrin

137 and 247 are fighting over my graveyard shift already. They say they're happy for my retirement, but seems like they're more happy about taking over my office instead. Kids have no sense of respect these days.

Another fun and exciting morning here in the SECRET UNDERGROUND TEST FACILITY!! LabTech722 showed me his pet that the G CORP people gave him. It was a really cute monkey!! GOSH, G CORP is SOOO NICE TO US!! heart Though, I think all the excitement got me all light-headed cause at some points I could've sworn I was seeing double of that monkey. eek
The new guy 722 is really nice and smart. He told me about how he was an investor and that he had this big deal going down later tonite and if I wanted in, now was the time. He told me that the minimum investment was 50,000 g and that the return would be double after only 10 years!!! AWESOME!! So, anyways, I pulled out my life savings and gave it to him. I can't wait! 3nodding

Wednesday, October 20th, 2004 12:07 PM Last night's poker game was crazy. I was up 85,000 g at one point. I was unstoppable!
Then I caught a string of nasty boats like you wouldn't believe. The clincher came at 2 AM last night on a monster hand. I held a back-door straight in the early position (the big blind was up to 5000 g), but then got caught drawing dead against a Fish who kept coming over the top at me. The river dried up so my connectors didn't help me. But I didn't want to pass up all that dead money so I went all in.
There was no way that rookie knew I was trying to buy the pot. He didn't have a clue but stayed in even though he was clearly outmatched. I mean, a seasoned player would have folded on Fourth Street. I lost my entire bankroll in one hand to a joke of a hand: Ace High. Come on! Give me a break!
That hasn't happened to me in weeks. I was on such a roll. It was just a bad beat, I guess. Not my fault. What can you do? Now I'm trying to put together some scratch for the next big game. Maybe LabTech 247 can stake me. He works all the time, and never seems to go anywhere to spend it. I hate to ask Mr. Gambino for a loan. He already gave me an advance on my paycheck.
But the payoff will be sweet if I can get financed. Tonight's game should be huge.
Ok. Back to work. Today I am giving injections to a two-headed monkey. Not sure what is in the serum, but I guess it must be some kind of hormone or something. OOPS. Was that information classified? I didn't realize .... ok. Just kidding. G Corp doesn't have a two-headed monkey. I made that up.

Earlier this morning, I went to check the G CORP department forum as part of my daily internet routine, and I saw that LabTech957 got a Home Internet Theatre System and is having an internet party. It looks like everyone is invited...everyone except me, that is! scream He is some kind of jerk! I think he thinks he's good at the internet! But he isn't! He only wishes he was as good at the internet as LabTech137 because everyone knows that LabTech137 is good at the internet. (But then again he's good at everything. sweatdrop )
Luckily, things got better a little while later. While I was compiling yesterday's data into a folder to take to LabTech247, I found cute two playing cards; they're both diamonds, but one is a queen and the other is a jack. I'm using them as bookmarks in my Chicken Soup for the LabTech Soul book. Gosh this book is great! crying

Wednesday Oct 20, 2004 12:18 PM LabTech101 is a nice guy. Not to bright, though. He staked me for tonight and I don't even have to worry about him collecting. Not like a few months back when I took out a loan (I think he was a bookie working for Mr. Gambino) and the juice was running at 20% compounded daily ... Hope that guy doesn't track me down to my new job ... hahaha.
Now if I can only get another 50,000 gold I can run the table tonight at the casino. I can already see my chips stacked up in front of me like towers, like the skyline of the Vegas strip, baby. I will need a live-feed to the surveillance cams just to see the other mopes at the table my stacks will be so high.
Work today is kinda monotonous. I counted about 20 huge fork-lifts go by on our level carrying palettes marked 'TOP SECRET - G Corp Authorized personnel to open only!' I asked LabTech247 if he knew what was in them and he said, 'Mind your own business if you know what's good for you'. I think he could be nicer to me. After all, I did offer him a 30-60 split of the winnings if he staked me for the next game.

I should have known I'd get in trouble for posting that. Well... I'm not in trouble yet, but Gambino has been in the Lab five times already today, and he keeps giving 912 and I looks like he knows what is going on.
But, even so, he never stays for very long, and the last time he was here, he mentioned something about a huge shipment that he had to handle, and ran off like there was something on fire somewhere.
I hope not. They are so security "concious" here that the fire extinguishers are locked to the wall, so if there was a fire, we wouldn't ba able to fight it.
And once and for all, all these rumors about me and a 12 foot purple boa are true. But, it's not purple, it's normal colored. and it's not 12 feet long, it's 13 feet long, damnit. That extra foot is important. You see, it was only an 11 foot boa when we got it, and now it's grown 2 feet, not one.

I'm starting to find LabTech247 kinda gross to be around. stressed His stubble is starting to poke through the company-issued antiviral masque and the lines in his beady eyes are redder than my mug. I don't think he is getting much sleep. He's starting to smell like LabTech101's green bunny. (Where is Grunny, anyway?)
(Edit: I just realized that he's starting to smell like LabTech957 too. LabTech957 smells ALL the time. gonk )
When I asked him about getting some shut-eye, he scoffed at me, "Rest? There's no time for rest when it's vital that research must be conducted for the growth of our great corporation!"
I'm so glad my desk is all the way on the other side of the room from him. eek

When I got back from lunch, I noticed that there was a big iron door blocking the door to the lab. My boss 247 was scratching his head as I approached him. He appeared to be thinking about something. So I asked him what had happened and he told me that the G CORP janitorial staff was doing spring cleaning. That's so nice of them! I LOVE WORKING FOR G CORP! heart I kinda spilled some coffee on my desk yesterday and then today, they send in a WHOLE team to clean it up! Talk about NICE!!
I also asked 247 if he had seen my bunny. He told me that Grunny(so I liked to call him) was homesick and that he wanted to be with his family. He assured me that Grunny was in a better place now. I will miss Grunny, but I understand where he is coming from. I really missed my family when I started working here too. crying Anyways, it would be selfish of me to keep him from his family. sweatdrop
Oh, I better find 722 to thank him. Earlier, I saw him with one of the janitors, so he must've totally helped out with the spring cleaning! The people here are soo NICE! I LOVE working in a SECRET UNDERGROUND TEST FACILITY!! heart

Wednesday, October 20, 2004 2:16 PM We had to evaculate the level a few minutes ago. Something about toxic fumes in the lab from a spill. Fortunately the ventilation ducts cleaned up the room in about 10 minutes so we didn't have to wait long before going back to work.
I was in the lunchroom, playing craps with the janitor when it happened so all of this information is second hand from what I overheard. (I was on my break, so I had every right to be away from my desk). Anyway, by the time I got back to my lab-bench everything was cleaned up so maybe the spill never actually happened. In fact, I'm pretty sure nothing happened. Besides, most of the chemicals we work with are pretty benign, so why would we need to evacuate the level?

25 years with G Corp and I've never seen such commotion in the facilities. All the new hires, new equipment, new cages... it's too much like the incident 4 years ago. Nah, I shouldn't think about that. Just another 2 weeks and it'll all be over.
Me and Julia are finally going to have some quality time together. It's great that I'm assigned to this new facility in Gambino so I can have more free time to plan for my vacation and shop for our new house. I cannot thank G Corp enough for their wonderful pension plan. Well, after all I've been the most senior and trusted member of G Corp. They better keep me happy if they want to keep my mouth shut. Not like I would spill the beans about their dirty little secrets anyways. Nobody need to know, nobody should know... it's too disturbing for anyone to hear.

Wednesday, October 20, 2004 3:45 PM LabTech957 invited me to a party at his house. Don't know how to tell him I don't want to go. He is always blathering on about conspiracies and how people are out to get him. Plus, when I asked him if there was going to be online poker, he said something about disapproving of gambling and that it was just another way for Big Brother to keep tabs on you. That's ridiculous. I mostly play in all the underground spots where they don't even have security cameras. When I'm online, I make sure to use a stolen credit card. xp (BTW, I wish 957 would shower or something. He really stinks!)

Wednesday, October 20, 2004 @ 4:15 PM My lack of a cot is starting to get to me. I've been going since yesterday non-stop, and at some point, I am going to have to sleep; I mean there isn't a way to work without sleeping, is there? I should find out.
I had to come clean with LabTech101 about his rabbit. And by clean, I mean I had to tell him a lie. What would you have told him? You put a weird mutated bunny in the furnace in order to erase traces of your experiment failing? Right, so I lied to him and spun some story about how the bunny went to a happy place or whatever. He bought it though, and I can probably use this to my advantage. Maybe I will promise LabTech101 a new Grunny in exchange for him stealing some vials from sublevel 25. You see, unlike the corporate ladder, on a "lab ladder", the more important you are, the farther down you get to go. I bet they have some interesting things down there that could hasten my cellular research without killing more of our test animals.
I also figured out why my cylcotronic accelerator isn't working, the fuse is gone! Gambino installed a fuse with gold connectors for reliability. "The experiment can't fail," he told me. But now, with the fuse gone, how am I going to finish this? I'll have to start asking the other lab techs. Every lab tech that is, except LabTech957.
LabTech957 is the most non G Corp Team Player out of our entire group! All he ever does is listen to bad music, slack off, and complain. I heard he was planning a party this weekend, and he didn't bother to even extend an invitation to me. Well, fine, I say. I'll just make sure to assign something very important to be done that weekend for anyone who wants to go. That will teach LabTech957 not only to invite me next time, but to not monopolize our technician's time. Weekends are valuable to our research! You can't waste them at some "Internet Party"!
Ever since I took care of the technician next to me, I've had an extra desk to work with, a corner desk no less! My productivity has been so high lately Gambino is bound to notice! I'm doing three times the work LabTech013 could have ever done!
And when LabTech062 retires on November 2, I will be in the perfect position to take over the sublevel 29 team. And then we can all work to make a better G Corp!
