What can I say. Not all cliches are bad, but some of them I get a little tired of. I can totally see "evil" gods in this universe still wanting to preserve the world so that they can rule over it.

BlackxStarxCrossedxSky What can I say. Not all cliches are bad, but some of them I get a little tired of. I can totally see "evil" gods in this universe still wanting to preserve the world so that they can rule over it. See that's the problem... people see "evil" and think "destroyer of the worlds" and that they just was to obliterate everything. No some "evil" gods as simply self-serving. THEY come first and everything should do as they say. So they don't want the world destroyed, only just dancing to their beat. They want the control and the power. Atleast this is MHO.

Finally, someone gets it...
Few evil gods actually seek to destroy the planet, mostly to just corrupt, enslave, dominate, or pervade the world. After all, if the destroyed it, who would worship them?...

We should have a pantheon of gods for this project. Not to be imposing but I recommend myself for God of Death...

Not much XD although we should probably avoid using those from other settings *jii@Chemosh*
If there were multiple pantheons, or at least the same gods worshiped under different names, they would probably be regional in this kind of world. I can imagine that there would "pockets" of people still living normally with wild/cursed land in between, that few people want to go through.

Ha ha ha, I can take a hint. I didn't intend using the name Chemosh for more than one world. Aside from in UG of course...

I feel old now. I first played a D&D game, which was Basic D&D, back in like 1985. Course we wasn't playing exactly right, but we played by the rules the guy who owned the books said it worked. Later I read the books and figured out how it REALLY worked and all, but hey it was fun. Damn rust monster eating my short sword! I like the idea of pockets of civilization and each possibly having their own mythos. Course I'd say take some current mythos and tweak them a bit to fit better. Like say take the Egyptian mythos and whittle it down to a handful of deities and use those. Also, in some places like US it could be a mixture of mythos since it is a melting pot of people before the event. Unless it would lead to individual communities with different nationalities being the basic inhabitants of each one. Then have only a couple of mixture communities.

Then have only a couple of mixture communities. we could alternatively have the pantheon be made of mortals who ascended to godhood (still worshipped in different ways by different groups of people), and nobody remembers anymore. we could have ancient relics scattered throughout the wasted world that reveal clus to this truth, but that at first seem like they are pieces to a completely different puzzle. (notice a theme yet? i have a certain flare for these kinds of plots. ninja )
