Nightfire swept up closer to her, hair flowing back behind him like a dark flame that was being teased by the wind. "You are tense. Why?"

"Just worried. If we get attacked, I don't want you getting further hurt, trying to do something stupid. So I'm working to keep my tail out of the water. Which isn't easy," she said.

"I will not get hurt. Relax and have some fun. Allow me to protect you. It would certainly be my pleasure and an honor." He smiled again, adding a little wink this time. He was feeling much better, and who wouldn't with a beautiful thing like her to raise his spirits?

He smiled, "I have recovered. Ah the marvels of modern magic. Now relax. You worry far too much. Go ahead, dip your tail. I can see to it that none will harm you." He turned and muttered something quietly to himself, dark flames coming from his hooves and dropping down onto the water, burning on the surface for a few seconds before snuffing out. "The fish will leave you be with these."

She blinked confused, but shrugged and let her tail drop. It was so much easier to fly that way. Her tail was heavy, and the muscles that let her power though the water were ill used to curling up and staying still. "Thank you."

He dipped down closer to the water, shooting the dark blue flames out around her tail. "And you do not even have to worry about a burn."
