heh actually what had occurred is when the English military boarded Calico Jacks ship The two female Pirates Anne Bonnie and Marry Read were the only ones on deck to meet them while the rest of the crew cowered bellow. Anne Bonnie actually fired a shot bellow deck murdering her own crew mate in order to coax them to coming up and fighting.

The Piece of eight was the basic Spanish currency but it was so abundant and valuable being made of silver that it became the common currency through much of the New World

Whats really interesting is despite their capture neither Anne Bonnie or Marry Read were hanged. It was found upon their capture that both women were pregnant so their executions were postponed till after their children were born. After her arrest Anne Bonnie's name however disappeared from history there is no record of her release, execution or death by any other means. It is assumed that she was bailed out by her wealthy father and lived out the rest of her life into old age under an assumed name. Marry Read on the other hand died in the process of delivering her child.

The two actually were very close and best friends. In fact they had first met when Marry Read had disguised herself as a man and Anne Bonnie took an interest.

It is known that Bonnie and Read were both raised as boys. Read for the purpose of being a soldier and Bonnie for the reason of inheriting her families fortunes.

Why Bonnie did not take Read with her if she was indeed freed is unclear what is clear though is that through her actions Bonnie was the embodiment of what we see Pirates as today. Cold Ruthless looking out for herself above all others. Making a living as a prostitute even while married abandoning her husband for Calico Jack and nearly Taking Mary Read as well in a case of mistaken identity Murdering her own crew mate and calling her lover a spineless coward as he was marched to his death. Her actions portray her as a cold woman who did whatever she deemed necesary to gain what she wanted.

indeed it is a good thing. but mind you on top of the poor medical care that existed already she gave birth in an English prison and from what i read was suffering from a fever during the delivery.

You know its hard to say. In that day and age records were not kept of the common born. Likely knowing the English way of doing things the child would have been sent to an orphanage.
