When he was Youko, Kurama was killed by demon hunters, but he sent his soul to humn world, where he entered a pregnant woman's womb and was reborn as a human. I think he explained it when Yusuke helped save his human mom.

Not clearly enough in the English version though.... xd I didn't think he died, because the dub (I think) said he was only "badly injured"

Basically he was fatally injured and the guys in Demon world thought he was dead.

I like the movie in both versions. I like both movies, but the second one is much better than the first one. I own both the movies.
