Leon looked around him. Before, when he was hacking and slashing, he felt like he was in another place entirely, like he'd come out of reality just to battle. Now that it at least seemed to slow down, the Lieutenant got a chance to check his surroundings. Nothing but his enemies and comrades, this was a battlefield. All seemed to be calmer, more peaceful.... as if the chaos itself was starting to also get weary.
Leon patted Anri, just before gently tugging his reigns for the steed to fall back. "We should be gettin' ourselves healed, comrades. Their leader's a tough 'un, an' we're gonna be needin' all our strength to be facin' 'er."
Falling back was a good idea. Unknowingly, Sue and the others of the FEF vanguard were going to walk straight into the snipers and thieves that threatened the wounded, so that maybe, just maybe they'd be able to reach them in time. The green-haired nomad never let her guard drop as they fell back to the edge of the forest that led to their campsite. She saw the bishop Victoria firing off another Divine, and fired an arrow into the trees without asking. It appeared it wasn't quite over yet... "Show yourselves." She demanded of the hiding morphs simply. "Hiding will do you no good now."

The archers and theives didn't respond to their enemies' command. Their order was to eliminate them. This meant killed or be killed. With no reply from them, they continued with their assualts.
Thieves continued sped through the forest, using the thickets and trees to cover themselves. Archers continued fired at the enemies before either hiding behind the trees or took cover behind another tree.
As they battled, reinforcement came.
High up in the sky were flock of pegasus knights and group of wyvern knights. Near the mounted units were cavaliers and anima users.
They were being held back from the heat of battle. They were the backup and reinforcement in case their side were losing. Now that their side were losing, it was up to them to reinforce the battle.
Off they went to the FEFers. To eliminate the enemy. To assist their soldiers. It was their order to make sure that no enemy would ever be left survived.

s**t...that's a lot of morphs... thought Roy, hidden safely in the thickets. He was looking up at the pegasus knights, the wyvern riders, the cavaliers and the other morph reinforcements begin to show up. He needed to create a roadblock so that the morphs couldn't follow the others, who had just begun to make a retreat. But how...without drawing attention to his location or putting the others in danger.
After a few moments, he silently drew his Wind Blade, making sure the weapon wouldn't reflect any light and draw attention. Once the sword was drawn, he glanced around. Those trees over there that the cavaliers were about to pass through are looking good... he thought to himself.
He swung the magic sword, and blades of wind shot out in all directions, aiming for the trees he had selected. A few moments later, a reassuring thud was heard, for the trees had fallen exactly as the young lord wanted.
Temporary roadblock made~
He waited a little bit. The fallen trees would stall the cavaliers a little bit until the mages burned the wood away, and the roadblock was useless to stop the flying units. It wouldn't be long before the morphs would trace the attack back to this location, so he would have to move soon. But...Roy was a little worried about something else.
That growl he heard earlier as he approached his current location. He wasn't sure if it was directed towards him, or someone or something else, but he knew one thing. It definitely wasn't human...probably not even a morph.
((I'm assuming that it's still a little dark out, and with light and fire magic flying everywhere it would allow some room for sight. Apologies if that's not the case. sweatdrop ))

The battle was coming to an end. Victory was about to become theirs. Isadora stabbed the mercenary with her sword. Once the morphs were gone, they would be able to find the spell caster.
Just as Isadora slashes the shaman, she heard something. Looking further, she saw reinforcement came. Great.... Isadora thought in annoyed. More enemies to attack.
As she looked up in the sky, she saw fliers coming. Isadora bit her lips. Just how many were there?

For a second, Jin let his eyes wander over to the east. Damn... dawn already? Time flies when you're trying to stay alive. Geez...
Then he turned back towards the voice. Urchin, huh? Same voice, all right. Looks like he'd found the magic user, but by the same token, said magician also found him. But how?
Slowly, quietly, he crept closer now, his pace quickening at the thought of at least knowing the identity of the leader. It was still fairly dark in this thicket, so he opted to risk it--he picked a sturdy tree with low-hanging branches and climbed a little bit, getting a better view of the surrounding area. After climbing about halfway, he ducked his head to avoid a black beard flying just barely overhead. He looked in the direction it had gone...
...What the...?
A teal-haired woman in a short black dress, mounted on the back of what appeared to be a three-headed, rat-tailed, enormous dog. In all his years, he'd never seen such a sight! ...No, that wasn't right. ...Once. During that blizzard, he'd seen one. THAT one, however, had been feral, and was defeated by Sue the Nomad Trooper. THIS one was with a ridiculously dangerous dark-magic user, clearly tamed enough for her to ride.
Yeah, he'd seen a Gwyllgi once before. And he wasn't too keen on facing it, but what could he do?
"...A Gwyllgi, I presume? So your pet down there sniffed me out?" He called out from the branches, blending in among the leaves and darkness, very difficult to spot at this early hour.

What was that Nomad Trooper thinking? Of course Morphs weren't going to respond! They were emotionless, usually only following one goal. She too had to become a person with one goal... keeping up her strength to keep on firing off Divine spells like they were canon shots. Never before had she had to do so this fast.
Thank goodness the young Lord blocked the road for the moment. It meant she had time to cast the real magic she wanted to.
Clasping her hands together, she said the sacred prayer...
"O bringers of light, fell the darkness before me. O Keepers of Order, vanquish the chaos which drives my enemies! Skies of the heavens, Rays of the Goddess and Saint, hear my call to end all evil! PURGE!"
Holding the tome high into the air, Victoria watched as three of the spells rained down upon the Wyverns, thieves, and snipers alike. Quite a few of them were taken out by her massive summoning.

Rhys, meanwhile, continued to lead the way. The goop appeared to be getting thicker, the monsters more numerous. Were they getting close? He... honestly couldn't tell. Evelyn hadn't thrown anything more at them in a little while, and he couldn't pinpoint her location for certain without her casting another spell.
At least he'd at last led them back to the tunnel entrance--he picked up his staff and grinned. Finally, I found it! He picked it up, taking the opportunity to block an enemy Soldier's lance thrust. He backed up, letting Isadora and company handle the morphs as he attached a garnet stone to the staff--an effective Torch. Raising it high above his head, the area around them lit up, making the battle easier with everyone able to see.
The morphs could see too, of course, but they hadn't seemed to care beforehand anyway...
THOK.
Rhys cried out in pain as an arrow lodged itself in his shoulder, a bit below the collarbone.
Maybe they DO care for torches, he thought bitterly as his eyes scanned the trees but saw nobody. He kept himself moving, prefering to make himself a tougher target to hit.

•I bear the seed of ruin… •A golden age turned to stone… вєαѕтмιѕтяєѕѕ єѴєℓYη Sometimes I wonder why they need me at all! … For this, a tragic journey• … A vision of a dying embrace• Evelyn fidgeted visibly in response to Jin’s words. That man did not just call her Triumph a pet! Sure, the Beastmistress would sometimes call the creature such, but only she was allowed to do that. Any one else trying to insult the creature was trying to get on the fast track to one of the monster’s stomachs. The teal haired girl opened her mouth to speak, but her ‘pet’ beat her to the punch. ”It wasn't that hard to find you, just had to follow the smell of POO!” Of course, if anyone had a way with words it was Triumph. The Gwyllgi had never been one for subtlety, not that Evelyn minded. It just simply made him a better match for the girl with her strange mood swings.
”… Eww…” Evelyn whined, an expression on her face that made it seem like the girl had just eaten something bad. Her childish nature had returned; its appearance marking trouble as always. ”You sure are nasty if Triumph could smell you so easily.” Evelyn put her hand to her nose and pinched it as if the smell was too overwhelming. The gesture was followed by a gagging motion to complete the mocking. ”Is your battling as bad as your stink, m’dear?” A dark smile found itself perfectly at home of the Beastmistress’ face as she flipped some of her long hair over her shoulder.
The person cloaked in the shelter the trees provided was still hiding. Unlike Triumph’s heightened senses, Evelyn only had the normal senses any human possessed and thus could not spot the potential assailant. It matter not though, voice revealed enough information to the girl; general location and gender, among other things. ”So little cookie, are you going to keep hiding in the cookie jar or are you going to let my so called pet eat you up?” Evelyn purred the words, making sure to put emphasis on each one; as if lacing them with sickening sweet honey. ”Or there’s always the third option… I can level all the trees and kill you in the process!”

Jin's eyes focused on Triumph below, not so much insulted by his quip as, well... ...Wait, what? It can TALK?
Jin just crept along the branches and watched, letting the girl talk away. Moments she spent talking were moments she didn't spend trying to kill things. Triumph seemed able to follow him... smell, huh? Removing his black cloak, he tied it to a branch, making sure to rub it against his face, letting it take some of his sweat and therefore stench beforehand. Let's see if you can smell the difference, then.
Moving along to the other end of his hiding tree, he removed a glove from his left hand, hanging it on a branch of an adjacent tree. Then he moved to a higher branch of that tree, moving along carefully. It was quite a text of dexterity, being up so high, moving about like this! One false slip and this would be the shortest attempt on anyone's life he'd ever made--not to mention the most laughable.
As Evelyn finished her speech, Jin approached a branch on yet another adjacent tree, and there left the glove on his right. This act of miniscule stripping done, he turned to face Evelyn again.
Who said I was hiding if you can smell me out? he thought. Oh, wait... or can you still tell which smell is the one you want?
The smell of one human might be easy enough to track, but four objects with the same smell (only one being the actual human) might make things more tricky. He continued moving about in the branches, gauging Triumph's reaction. Triumph was key... if he could fool the talking Gwyllgi, he could fool Evelyn. If he could fool Evelyn... maybe, just maybe, he had a chance.
...Maybe.

Lance had woken up shortly afterwards, laying on his back in the forest. Unknown he had several cuts on his body, he tried standing up immediately and join the fray once again, but he had collapsed a moment after that. Cursing while getting healed, he stayed prone for a long time.
Now finally rested, he witnessed how a giant cloud descended upon them.Crap, I'm dead.
He didn't die from the cloud though. In fact, he didn't feel anything. The other FEFers, though, did. They seemed to get a lot more sluggish in their movement. Lance remained unaffected by the cloud. As did the morph. Lance deduced it was because of his heritage he didn't feel the effect.
Several people cast shieldings on the other FEFers to protect them. But walls doesn't keep trouble away for long. Even if the morphs' numbers dwindled, once the shieldings wore off, they'd be easy pickings again.
Sever the head to kill the body, huh?
Someone was making the whole battle a nuisance. The black-robed man, Jin, if Lance recalled right from the others talking to him, had seemed to have caught up on something, and was now scurrying around the trees, ignoring the morphs.
Lance still wasn't too confident in himself, but if anything, he'd serve as a nice diversion.
Quickly scaling two trees by jumping from branch to branch, he ended up on top of a tree, was was now standing, looking out from above. That's when he saw a woman (or girl, maybe?), who he had not noticed before. Jin was almost straight below her by now.
Here goes nothing... he thought as he quickly made his way across the treetops, until he was within shouting distance.
"Oi! You! Skimpy Chick! Aha! My name is Lance Dartel! You thought you could fool us, didn't you? You thought all of us were easy pickings! I have news for you, hun! You're about to face the one and only Smile of Fortune Dartel! This'll be the fight of your life! Let me prove it to you by doing this!"
Stretching out his arm, he opened his palm and steadied it with his other arm. He took aim for her figure, then yelled out.
"Bullet Impact!"
The theory was that the magic would form into a spheric form and then fly off at the girl, but since the pure magic was invisible to an untrained eye, she would have trouble dodging it, and get hit by it as if his by an apple sized bullet from a slingshot, which would be enough to send someone flying.
Only, nothing happened.
"...Oh come on!" he kept yelling, as he waved his arm around frantically. "Bullet Impact! BULLET IMPACT!"
He stopped his waving for a moment and stared at his arm. "I know it's been a decade, you bloody sodding piece of...something! But when I yell BULLET IMPACT, I really mean it!"
He started aiming and shouted it again, and nothing yet happened. He waved even more frantically, to the point of it looking silly. "This is not a time for failUUUUUUUURE~!"
Without a moment's notice, he suddenly was sent flying backwards by his own attack that had gone off. Since he was waving, the force was sent downwards, hitting a winged man in the back. Lance flew several yards into another tree with his back first, and all the air in his lungs got knocked out. As he gasped for air, he fell down, getting knocked around by different branches like a pinball-ball, before landing on the ground with a thud. In his prone position, he raised his torso, gritting his death. Then he started punching the ground. "Dammit! Dammit all! I finally regain my power, and this is what you do? Complete lack of control?! DAMMIT!"
Frustration got the better hand of him, and he didn't seem to notice (or care) about the morph creeping up on him, ready to strike.

Sue should have known that Morphs weren't worth warning or sparing. As a nomad, it was easier for both her and Andre to maneuver into the trees and start snuffing out the reinforcements that came from the rear of the group. Using the Killing Edge again proved itself far more effective. Not all of us can rush back here, not all of us were mounted...
Sue hoped that help was on its way.
Leon found himself rushing back, now frantically to protect those in the rear guard. He had no idea that Lance had slipped away and was now 'helping' Jin battle Evelyn. He had to deal with these pesky stragglers first. He threw his hand axe forward, and although missing, he drew out the last two thieves. The warrior smirked, drawing a weapon off the side of Anri's saddle he hadn't used in quite a while, a lance with a very sharp point meant to strike vital organs easily: the Killer Lance. With the deadly weapon now in hand, he quickly disposed of the two thieves looking to loot injured FEFers.

With both mounted units rushed back to help those in the rear, it left Isadora and Rhys to attack those from the front. Isadora gave a slash of her sword to the last morph. Before the reinforcement was coming, she heard a crash. Right in front of her were the trees blocking the cavaliers' path. The mages were casting spell to burn the trees while the cavaliers used their weapons to chop it.
Wondering who would have done it, she looked around to see Roy. Good work, Lord Roy. Isadora thought as she nodded to the young Lord of Pharae. It would gave her time to find the spell caster. But where was she hiding?
Suddenly, she heard an explosion. This must be where she is. Isadora thought as she began to rode to the direction where the explosion was. Thanks to Rhys' help of lighting the area, she was able to see where she was going. It wasn't long when she saw Evelyn few feet away.
A green-teal haired young woman dressed in black. And nearby Evelyn was a strange looking three-headed dog. Isadora wasn't sure what it was called, but she remembered tales of what she heard during Christmas season and from Amelia's tales.
Putting her sword away, the paladin pulled out her spear and leveled it. She had no intention of killing the young woman, despite how much sick, twisted spell she had placed on her. After all, the spell caster was one of the Heroes; surely, she could survive. In addition, Isadora didn't want to add another guilt in her for killing the enemy. What matter was to stop her casting more spells. Aiming at the left shoulder of the Beastmistress, Isadora pulled back before launching her spear at full strength and speed.
"I've found you, Evelyn!" Isadora shouted as she watched her spear flew straight across to Evelyn.

Sin jumped from the shadows, cleaving the morph that was about to hit Lance. Although the fighter had been there the entire time, he was waiting for the perfect opportunity to help. This one wasn't perfect, but it was required to help the "heroes". Though he didn't know who was "good" or "evil" quite yet..

While the group was focusing taking down the morphs in the rear, the cavaliers and mages were busy chopping down the roadblock. They would not let a temporary roadblock stop them. It was their duty to eliminate them.
While some were chopping the log, three mages and two cavaliers went around the roadblock. Onward, they went to the group.
Up in the air, some of the wyvern knights fell to the Purge attack. Others dodged the attack. The pegasus knights needed no worry. The magic had no affect on them. Seeing the group below, they dived down to attack.

Rhys opened his mouth to protest as Isadora appeared to see something and rode off, heading for a large thicket. W-wait a second! Where do you think you're--!
There were still a number of morphs in the area, and since Isadora was occupied with Evelyn now, that left Rhys as the only target.
Keeping his eyes on the woods, Rhys reached back and grunted as he pulled the arrow out of his shoulder. Thankfully, nothing broke off as he did so, but he could feel the blood pouring down his back.
He was all alone and outnumbered. Time for the heavy artillery! He laid down the staff once again, dropped Shine, and pulled out the "big guns"... Nosferatu, the drainer of life! He planted his feet between the morphs and the retreating Isadora, and opened his tome.
"You cannot pass," he said as he fired the first shot. The quintessence used to make the nearest morph was stolen as quickly as it was given, and the morph disappeared as the energy flowed into Rhys' body. GLORIOUS energy! It felt amazing! The quintessence flowed through him, the wound on his back sealing up as though it was never there! He felt... powerful. No wonder Nergal had been corrupted to this! The feeling of additional life force flowing through his veins, healing him and making him stronger... ohhhh, it was INTOXICATING.
They charged. They all charged. Magicians, Fighters, Cavaliers, even a few Halberdiers towards the back--he'd ignore the magic users. None appeared promoted, they were no threat to him. He focused on a Fighter with a long Halberd first... POW! The quintessence emptied out of the poor sod. More power! How could all this bloodshed feel so GOOD...? But he couldn't get all of them! Those cavaliers were coming in too fast, swords at the ready! But Rhys could see a gap between them, ran forward, and slid neatly under their crossed swords, draining a Mercenary now as he finished his slide, chanting the spell almost unceasingly.
Those nearby might've heard Rhys' sadistic laughter ring out through the woods. But hey, they had bigger fish to fry.
