Ellndra snuggled up to Faolan, her stomach still twisted up in knots, and tried to relax. "It's. . . I don't know, Faolan, there's just . . . it's. . . twins is wonderful. . . . b-but that's even harder, isn't it? I - I want them both, and I want them healthy, I'm just. . . I'm so afraid - and - and - how do you not let your fear bother you? I just - don't understand. . . . "

Moving around to lie on his back, propped up on the pillows, Faolan pulled Elle over so she could rest her head on his chest, hoping the familiar sound of his heartbeat--however irregular--would be calming to her. "Well, isn't not that I ain't letting in bother me. I think on it a lot, really. I just also know that worryin' on it and bein' scared ain't gonna much change the outcome on our babies. I ain't so afraid of a thing that I don't want it. There's much to do, even now, to be prepared for our weans, I don't have the time to curl up and be scared of every little thing that could--and probably won't--go wrong." He looked down at her, putting fingertips under her chin to gently tilt her face up to look at him. "I've told you true enough, lass. In Farstep, you do as you will and Fate sorts out the rest. We made our babies and we'll do our best to see them into this world, but how they'll be or even if they'll be born, sometimes we ain't got control on that. Won't make me love them any less if they ain't perfect. They're the only blood children I got now."

Ellandra sighed softly, snuggling against her husband and listening to his heartbeat. "I'm sorry. . . it's . . . if something does go wrong, it - what if it's my fault? I don't know if I'm doing the right things orthe wrong things, and I know I'm stressing too much. . ."
Rhian fluttered back down from the rafter and hovered near the couple, finally speaking up after several minutes of complete silence. "Ellandra is a good Mama already; can only get better! No worrying, it will be fine!"

Faolan sighed, closing his eyes. "Somethin' goes wrong, Elle, it ain't no one's fault. Not unless someone comes up an punches you in the stomach or you do something to intentionally harm our babies. If those don't happen and something still goes wrong, then that's just nature. I've been prayin' everyday that Aveta watch over you, love, but in the end, things will be as they are meant to be. Worryin' on not won't change anything."
He opened his eyes to look down at her. "I don't know what else to say to help ease your mind on it. I think you should talk to the other women around Farstep for advice. I'm a man and I don't have to birth babies, so I have no real idea what you're going through other than the same fears you have as a parent."

"Maybe," Ellandra acknowledged, trying to relax a bit more. "But. . . it's not like I'm really showing signs still. W-wouldn't it seem strange if I asked?"
Bored and sensing she wasn't needed for the moment, Rhian left the bedroom and returned to the front room of the vardo, perching on a chair and watching the door, waiting for Ziazan to return so she could have someone to talk to. Whiel she waited, she hummed a little to herself.

Shaking his head, the young man just laughed. "No, wife. You're married and wantin' children. No one's gonna think it strange for you to ask about what to expect in carryin' and birthin' a child. Up to you if you wanna tell them you're already knocked up. If they ask, well.. just tell them I saw it in the cards."

Ellandra nodded , blinking at him a little. "All right . . ." She trailed off and paused for a moment. "Do you think either of them will have that pretty orange hair?"

Faolan gave a short laugh, hugging his arms around Ellandra. "Aye, it's likely. As much as it's likely for them to get your pretty locks, too." He moved around a little, stretching under her. "I'd be kinda happy if at least one of 'em got my knack with the cards. The deck'll work for 'em, you know, 'cause they'll have my demon blood, but it wouldn't hurt if they also had the innate ability that goes along with it all, too." He thought a moment, then smiled. "Be nice if they got your creativity, too."

Ellandra blinked. "My hair's anything but pretty, Faolan, but I suppose it's likely too. . . and I think. . . I think my creativity's gone, actually. . . it. . . kind of ran dry." She sighed a little, snuggling close. "If I had any other abilities, I would be fine, but that was my only real gift and it's..... well, it's gone. Even here I've only gotten trickles, nothing that works. But I'm sure at least one will have your gift, though I'd wish them both to have talents more than I do."
Out in the front room, Rhian kept staring at the door, beginning to debate sneaking out. . . she was s bored and lonely right now, and not being able to help her owner at the moment didn't make it any easier. Being a giant butterfly trapped in a two-room vardo could grate on one's nerves.

Faolan looked down at her a little sadly. "I didn't know you weren't writing anymore. I thought being here at Farstep would help you with your stories, not make it all go away."
Ziazan came back finally, carrying an armload of sacks with meals in them from the hamburger vendor. Sure the others had said they weren't hungry, but it'd brought them food anyway since the vendor insisted it take some for the whole family. Quickly setting the bags on the table, Zia looked around and noticed the conspicuous absence of parents. It looked up at Rhian. "Where's Mama and Da?"

Ellandra shrugged a bit nonchalantly. "It... doesn't really matter, honestly. I'm still happier than I was before, after all." She paused. "It's not like I need the money I made from writing anyway..... honestly, I never even used much of it before. I suppose it's still sitting in a bank somewhere - it never crossed my mind until now," the brunette said, blinking a bit.
Rhian looked at Ziazan and pointed to the bedroom. "They're in there, talking about babies and stories and things," the little flutterbye said, seeming a bit lonely.

"It does matter," Faolan said, frowning a bit. "You know, being a storyteller here wouldn't be a bad job for you. Assuming you start having stories to tell again." He couldn't help feeling guilty about her lack of writing.
Zia shrugged, sitting at the table and getting its own hamburger out. It also got the one for Rhian out, flattening the bag it had come in to use as a makeshift plate. "Leave them be awhile, Rhi. Married couples need time alone without their kids all in their s**t. Come eat your burger while it's still warm. I got fries, too." Zia set a container of sweet potato fries down for them to share.

Ellandra blinked and lookd at Faolan, surprise clear in her eyes. "Storyteller...? Faolan, I.... may not be coming up with new stories right now, but believe me I have thousands still stored in my head..." She rather likd that idea. . . it sounded more fun than the ticketbooth was. . . and definitely more entertaining than struggling with the books while Keagan read the newspaper.
Rhian nodded silently, castign a quick look to the bedroom, and moved around on her perch so that she faced the table. "I wish I was hideable," the little proto said, not touching any food. "I can't go with Ellandra to help her - I'm supposed to help!"

Faolan smiled at her. "I can talk with some of our current storytellers so they can show you the ropes on what to do. Maybe get you started on it tomorrow if you want." He sat up a bit, sniffing at the air. "Smells like Zia's back with dinner. You up for eaten now?"
Zia just closed its eyes, so its sister couldn't see it rolling them in agitation, then looked at her. "Rhian, you think any proto has it that easy on hiding? I was small, but I still made it hard on Da all the time to stay hidden. If you can't go with Mama to help her when she's out, then help her when she's here. Just remember that they're a couple and they need time to be together. Don't take it so personally." It smacked the table near Rhian's hamburger to get her attention. "Now eat the goddamn hamburger that I went through all the trouble to get."
