Fenrir leapt to the side, narrowly avoiding Karoku's attack; part of him was proud to see his little brother had developed into a strong fighter, the rest of him, however, wanted nothing more than to rip Karoku limb from limb. He turned so he was facing Karoku full on, crouching down as if to pounce, "Don't you dare speak about her like that; she saved my life and I'm only repaying that debt." Fenrir ground out, though he knew he was lying, it had been months since he had been protecting Enya simply to repay a debt. That said he made a false charge and then feinted to the left, aiming a bite at one of his brother's legs.

Karo moved his leg, but not quick enough to completely avoid the attack. It made a small incision, not enough to render his fighting abilities. He let out a quick yelp, but growled instantly after and barked with anger, beginning to snap at Fenrir savagely, going to his neck, face and front legs. He would try to hurt his brother, but not kill him. They could become humanoid, but they still had a wolves instincts and that was to claim dominance. Karo would not fail around his own pack, for that would bring great dishonor. He glanced back at Cyrille, making sure to keep himself aware of Fenrir's movements, then looked back at the wolf and began to circle around him.

Karoku had managed to get in a few good bites at his face, but the armor down the front of Fenrir's legs had managed to block a few of the attacks aimed there; still, Fenrir was a bit proud of his brother, he wouldn't underestimate him any longer. This was a matter of pride between two pack leaders and Fenrir knew it; there was no way he could fail in front of Enya, and Karoku would do anything to prove to his pack he deserved dominance... still... "What's the matter, whelp?" Fenrir asked, his lips pulling back over his teeth in semblance of a smile, "Is there a girl you've taken a fancy to watching the fight?" Chuckling in a way only a wolf can, Fenrir suddenly threw himself forward at his brother, hoping to use his larger size and weight to throw him off balance, or even better, get him on his back.

Karo ignored Fenrir's attempts to intimidate him and inevitably, piss him off. There was such limited movement while in the wolf form. It was rather difficult to avoid Fenrir's attack, knowing his main intention of throwing him onto his back. If that were to happen, the battle would probably end with Karo's neck between Fenrir's sharp fangs. Though, he would have liked to transform, this was how wolf maolna showed their dominance among eachother; fighting in their wolf forms. He growled slightly and jumped, rotating in the air and landing backwards so that he was facing Fenrir. He slid back a few feet and rushed at his brother.

When Fenrir lunged and Karosu jumped, the wolf immedately locked his feet and used his momentum to spin slightly in an effort to keep himself from running straight into one of the people watching, or even worse, into a tree. It was hard to stop that much weight moving forward, so Fenrir slid for a bit before he managed to stop, but his move did save him from running head long into a tree. His manuever ended up being both a good and a bad thing. The good thing was that when Karosu rushed him he took the attack on his broad side so that the weight was distrubuted evenly and he didn't get knocked over, the bad thing... well, Fenrir's wolf form armor only covered his legs, back, and the top part of his chest, so he took the attack entirely in an uncovered part of his body. Not to mention that his other side was now pressed into the tree he had just so narrowly avoided with his face.

Karoku's tongue hung out as he started to pant slightly from the workout he was getting. It had been too long since he'd fought like this. He snapped at Fenrir's neck to try and end the fight. With Fenrir's size, he was stronger, but not as fast as Karoku. In a race, Karoku would no doubt end up winning. The problem was, it was much more difficul to knock Fenrir over, which would inevitably end the battle. So, he could only try to set his neck between his teeth and hope that he could hold on until Fenrir wore himself out. That was if the attack succeeded though.

Fenrir let out a long growl of warning and jerked his head up and away from his brother's teeth, throwing his whole body weight up into the air so that he was forced onto his hind legs. For a moment the wolf hung there, and then something akin to a grin appeared on his face and he kicked off of the ground with his back legs, throwing his weight at Karoku. If his brother managed to dodge, which was a good possiablity as he was one of few Maolna faster than himself, then he would have at least managed to get himself away from that tree, freeing himself from being cornered and so he would gain another chance to win, though his back would be temorarily exposed; if Karoku didn't dodge, then Fenrir would gain the upperhand by being able to kock his brother over, though there was a good chance that he too would fall over and so be exposed for an attack. Either way, Fenrir supposd that had a 50-50 chance.

The only thing Karoku could think of doing was dodging, but another thougth came to his head. Fenrir was bigger, but not tremedously bigger than him. Karo crouched down slightly, then leaped forward as Fenrir stood on his hind legs, with his jaw wide open. He was going to attempt an attack that would most likey injure him, but also make things a bit more difficult for Fenrir. If he could do this right, whether Fenrir moved and began to fall down, he would grab Fenrir's exposed neck between his fangs and clamp down tightly, but not enough to do any real damage to his elder sibling.

His plans changed halfway through the motion of falling on Karoku, his brother wasn't moving as expected; somehow Karoku had found a third option that Fenrir hadn't thought of, and he could almost see what would happen simply by the way the other wolf crouched. At this angle Fenrir knew his neck would fall right into his brother's mouth, securing victory for the younger Maolna. There wasn't much that Fenrir could do, he was already in motion, already throwing himself towards his brother's open jaws; but Fenrir refused to lose, he needed to do this, needed to reassert his place in his own mental hiearchy. It took some effort, but Fenrir managed to twist his body just enough upward so that if Karoku went for his neck he would hit the chest armor instead, but it was exposing quite a bit of belly that Fenrir wasn't comfortable exposing. If Karoku aimed lower at the newer open target there was nothing Fenrir could do to avoid the blow.

Karo yelped slightly when his snout came in contact with the armor, but he did not hesitate and swung his claws towards Fenrir's stomach. Whether it succeeded or not, Karoku transformed back into a human, looking down at the hand that might have made a small incision on his brother's stomach. His face was blank of emotion, looking down at the hand as if there was a drawing on it, then clenching his fist and looking back at Fenrir. "I am not going to prove myself to you, Fenrir." He walked towards his pack and fell to one knee. He was exhausted from the day's events and the constant beating he endured before the execution. His breathing became a bit more heavy and he soon fell forward onto the ground. Cyrille, Auso, and Yuna knelt down next to his body and looked down at him in worry. There was a sigh of relief from the three as they discovered it was from exhaustion.

Biting back a groan of pain, Fenrir hit the ground at an odd angle and rolled, coming up into a crouching position in human form as he landed. In wolf form the black of Fenrir's fur had managed to hide most of the blows Karoku had gotten in, but in human form the marks across his face and other points of his body were obvious, and Fenrir was feeling rather sick to his stomach; the blow he had recieved there felt more like he had been punched than slashed, but there was blood all the same. "Yeah yeah," Fenrir snorted over his brother's word, and with some effort he stood to his feet and moved slowly over. "He can say that, but it doesn't change the fact he's not a useless whelp anymore." Fenrir said, more to Enya than to the members of Karoku's pack.

With a slight sigh, Enya moved forward and gave Fenrir a quick once over with her eyes. "You're bleeding quite a bit..." She observed calmly, in an almost amused tone of voice. "They're just scratches." Fenrir claimed, a smug and over-confident tone coming into his voice. Smiling gently, Enya decided right then and there that for the moment, no matter how much she cared about Fenrir as a friend, Karoku was much perferable. 'If they won't know him down a peg, I will.' She thought to herself, and still smiling she stepped forward. "Are you sure?" She asked, and then, none to gently, Enya jabbed Fenrir in the stomach.

The reaction was instant, Fenrir's eyes bugged open and he yelped, his body curling in to protect the injured area. He shot Enya a look that was a combination of betrayl and anger, but she merely raised a brow at him. "I thought they were just scratches." She claimed, and at that she turned to heal Karoku.

Karo stirred in his slight nap and placed his hands under him to lift himself up to his knees. He collapsed instantly, not only because of the exhaustion, but also because of the bite he'd recieved from Fenrir on his arm. He grabbed the wound and sat up, soon standing and hiding the wound from the others. He glanced over at Fenrir and Enya. Watching the girl hit Fenrir and make him yelp, made Karo chuckle a bit, thinking it was quite humorous seeing him like this. The others in his pack were looking at him as if he were insane. After all, he had just gone up against royalty and came back alive. Karo lifted his hand and scratched cheek slightly, hearing Iio bark with happiness at his feet and wag his tail. Karo's tail began to wag as well. He was happy that he'd given his brother some trouble.

Smiling slightly, Enya held out her hands to Karoku, the both of them glowing with a blue light that resembled light reflecting off of water. "If you'll allow me to I'll heal you, it's the least I can do..." She offered, calmly ignoring the cursing, raging Fenrir behind her. "I'm really sorry about the way Fenrir is acting, but..." She laughed lightly, "He has a very interesting way of communicating with people." She explained; she was used to Fenrir so the growling curses behind her didn't phase her in the least. 'I can definately see the family resemblance... They're a lot alike...' She thought to herself, and when she realized that she could have fainted, 'Oh gods... just what the world needs, two of them!'

As important as finding ancient tomes and other such objects was to Malcholar, money was starting to become a problem. He had plenty of ammo, and even guns stashed away near the border of his homeland, but food was another matter entirely. He assumed Rothmet was disowned or from a fallen noble house, because he had no more money then Malcholar.

"My apologies, My name is Rothmet, a pleasure to meet you miss. This.."

"I am Malcholar Edane D'Vario. You may call me Edane. Now, how much will we be getting paid to escort you?"

Malcholar didn't feel like mincing pleasantries. As expected his companion had beaten him to the introduction. He was always in an especially "noble" mood around women. Malcholar could never tell if the man was just chivalrous, or a womanizer. Neither feature appealed all too much to Malcholar.

"Listen, what kind of protection do you have? Any training in firearms? Close quarters? We are two highly trained men, but if we run into too many enemies, you'll probably have to fight some or die."

Kaledan gave Malcholar an exasperated look. They were close to getting work, and his companion was slowly ruining the opportunity. He shot him a glare, before politely turning back to Rhia.

"Miss, I assure you that we will try our best for it not to come to that. My companion does have a point however I'm afraid."

One thing he hated more than his companions personality, is his ability to reason. Kaledan had to agree with him sometimes even if he did not want to. It made his anger rise, if only a little, imagining the superior smirk on his companions face behind him.

Rhia listened to their concerns, carefully evaluating their questions before answering. She had some money saved up from various odd jobs she had taken, tutoring as well as turning in some of her research to different universities. Also, her parents had given her some money on her last visit, so she felt she would be able to afford their assistance. However, she hesitated to name the price herself, being unfamiliar with hiring on protection when she traveled.

"Rothmet, Malcholar, I understand that we will probably run across trouble at some point. I took some classes at the firing range, and I'm a decent shot. I can also defend myself without a gun, if necessary," she stated the information, knowing it was important for them to know she wasn't a complete liability.

"I hate to seem uncouth, but I'm unwilling to put a price on your protection myself. You both seem like honest men," she said, "You set the price. I will pay it."

It was a bit risky, she admitted, letting them decide how much they would charge, but it also meant that they would be happier with the arrangement, not feeling cheated if she offered an undesirable wage.
