User ImageFalor was just biting into another scone when she heard a voice of a man, a bit older than she, order (what struck her as ironic) french vanilla coffee and raspberry scones, with the raspberries fresh. Was that coincidence, or was it already set by a predetermined fate? Falor looked it it in a practical fashion; what were the chances of someone ordering the same things as she? Falor had noticed Lyra had a bit of a problem, because she wasn't as good of a multi-tasker as her regular waitress Morgan. "Falor! You left this here on the rack earlier!"

Speak of the devil, Falor thought with a smile. Morgan, her red stringy hair falling over her shoulders, skipped over, her smile brightening the somewhat depressing atmosphere that had once surrounded the table. Morgan dropped a ring with the shape of a dolphin on her table, the tip of the nose and tail touching. It was emerald green, with some very small bits of seashells nestled within it. "Thank you! I was wondering where this was..." Morgan nodded, skipping off to her next customers. Falor looked into her book, kissing a passage inside tenderly. It described her brother perfectly, down to the last thread of hair. Then Falor looked towards the man again, taking him in. She made very brief notes, like his hair and eye color. They were both dark. His skin was somewhat pale. What car did he come up in? It was obvious he liked the same things she did. She only smiled warmly before looking out of the window, her mood darkening once more. "I'd give anything..."

“…anything for your brother back?” Leo replied standing up from the staunched puddle and looking over to Falor. “Sorry, you slightly muttered things so I couldn’t help, but over hear and deduce the rest.” Leo replied softly with a guilty shrug as he returned to his table, wiping his hand clean with a fresh napkin. It was a little lie, but he knew that time was waning, an angel would soon be here. Though as to who it would be, he could only hazard a guess. He reached over to his cup, giving into the pleasant aroma before taking in a sip of the warm liquid. Leo then lowered the cup slightly and peered out into the darkness, giving into a thoughtful pause before he whispered, “A wish to switch places, to be the one to take the hit.” Leo spoke from the heart this time, recalling his own wounds. “There is a way,” Leo sipped upon the cup again before setting it carefully down. “I should know, for I made a similar choice for the one I loved.” He knew that Morgan and Lyra would not return out of the kitchen section of the café, he knew because he made it so. “I can make you the same offer, a chance to take it all back and take your place in front of the bullet.” He looked straight into her eyes and held them, “A chance to make things right,” he whispered.

Then the silence was broken with a deafening crash as a burst of wind suddenly swirled about the middle of the room in a tornado like frenzy. It died down to show gleaming armor wrapped in strong pure white wings that spread out to reveal the rest of the armored figure, who rose from his kneeling position to stand an impressive 6’9 feet. He let out a huff as he breathed out one word, “Leo…” “Good evening again, Gabriel.” Leo replied pleasantly with a smile. Poor Gabriel, he looked quite humorous to be poised for battle…in the middle of a rustic café.

After a brief silence where Gabriel glared at Leo, Leo smiled back and sipped his coffee, the two waitresses did not appear. Gabriel’s attentions snapped onto Falor. “Don’t accept!” Gabriel growled. Leo’s eyebrow rose ever so slightly as he continued sipping his drink, this will be interesting he thought. Gabriel, realized that he was letting his temper slip, damn it, why did it have to be Leo. “What I mean to say is…don’t give in. Guilt, anger, and sadness over what has happened.” Gabriel’s voice was gentler now and almost recalled the days of heroes riding upon white horses. Leo lowered his cup. “Human beings are imperfect and the world is imperfect. Things happen that we cannot control and…we cannot stop what happens, but we persevere, walk forwards in the path of light.” Gabriel had approached Falor’s table, but still with some distance between them, he knelt onto one knee and put his armored hand upon his breastplate. “I can offer you protection, allow me to be your guardian.” He whispered.

User ImageFalor was in a state of shock over everything that had just happened. Event by event, Falor played what went on just minutes ago. First, the man she now knows as Leo. He told her that she could take Clistophar's place, which was what she had wanted to do for such a long while. He had never deserved to die like that. Protecting a selfish sister such as herself, and after then not even receiving his wish. He wanted his life celebrated, but she couldn't even do that for him. Falor's mind snapped towards the 6'9'' completely armored angel that was Gabriel. The world was imperfect. Walking towards the path of light, being as pure as Clistophar had been. Was that what he would have wanted? "Clistophar, what should I do?"

Falor listened for a sign when her vision was obstructed by bright headlights. Falor shielded her eyes until they shut completely off. Then she blinked, trying to ease her tortured retinas. Was that a sign from Clistophar, where ever he might be? Sister, you have to be strong...and I know you're very kind inside; never let that part of you die out... Falor nodded finally, turning to Leo. She bowed her head and then turned to Gabriel, a determined expression on her face. He never wants to you lose that last bit of purity you have inside...at least keep that promise for him. Falor felt a tear slip out of her eye. "I cannot accept your offer, Leo. I have a promise to fulfill to my brother, and I won't disappoint him. Gabriel...will you be my guardian? Please; so that I may fulfill my promise to my brother?"

Still late at night or well maybe too early in the morning, a ticking old-fashioned alarm clock sitting on a small table suddenly rang. The small machine moving, skipping forwardly as it rang, a ring that could wake up a bear in the winter, was stopped by a gloved hand with long red nails. A groan followed the short, dead silence and a petite redhead sat up in her bed. Frédérique DuRêve brought that same right hand that silenced the clock to her eye to rub it open. Still drowsy, the girl looked at her hand and blinked her sleepy eyes three times, her mouth still half opened. "... Damn, I forgot to take that glove off again? Good thing I didn't actually poke my eye while sleeping. I'm a danger to myself when I'm wearing this toy." She mumbled to herself, as she took off the said toy and put it beside her alarm clock on the table.

After a good five minutes of blankly staring at the wall facing her, Frédérique finally put her feet on the cold wooden floor of her room and got up. Wearing nothing but her panties and a white shirt that was just a little too big for her, the thin girl stretched and began her "morning" routine: eat breakfast, take a shower, brush her teeth, get dressed and get ready for work. Just before leaving her small apartment, Frédérique put on her favourite brown hat; she never left her place without it, even if it was only to go across the street to the café she worked at. Locking the door to her house, Fey went down the stairs that lead to the street like a ninja, not wanting to wake anyone up.

DuRêve found herself in front of the place she called "work" not even two minutes after leaving her place. "Ah... I hate this shift, it's just too early for me." She sighed, a hand on the door which she pushed and stepped in the place. The door opened, a little bell chimed and Fey walked in, thinking this would be one of these normal days where she'd get a few customers, maybe a compliment once in a while, and probably some gossiping from Lyra(which, honestly, she always only listened half of). Giving the room a quick look to see the customers, Fey gasped at the sight of Leo and Gabriel and took a step back in surprise. "What's... going on here? Is there some kind of convention I didn't hear about or something?" She thought out loud, her emerald eyes scanning Gabriel's shiny armour. Her green orbs quickly noticed Falor though. "Oh... Hey, Vanilla girl." Fey had always called Falor "Vanilla girl", or simply "Vanilla"; they never actually spoke that much, but Falor was considered a regular, and since Fred had been working in the café for at least a year now, she had the opportunity of seeing her a few times, it just never occurred that Fey served Falor, as Morgan seemed to be the one at her table most of the time.

A little lost in her own confusion, the small girl looked at the three people and stepped a little closer to them, a hand rubbing the back of her neck. "Huh... Refills, anyone?" She asked them with a soft tone of voice not to interrupt what was going on too much.

A gush of wind whirled about as a black hole ripped open. Lucifer entered his property right inside the ancient protective shield that encased the estate, one barefoot touching the cobble stone of the driveway, followed by another as the hole began to close with some effort, as if whatever laid on the other side was doing its best to force the hole open, Lucifer turned his head to peered back behind him and the hole quickly shut together, erasing itself from existence. His eyes then lingered on the ever stream of glowing symbols, seemingly etched into the night sky, a string of words in a forgotten tongue wrapped around the house. Revealing themselves briefly when they pulsed with a dark red glow and a dark demonic aura. Lucifer’s long silver white hair was lounging over one shoulder, he had somehow changed during his transportation from here to there. A weird little work of magic that had to be done ever so carefully or you would appear with a sock on one arm, you pants covering your head, and…well you get the picture. Lucifer now wore white loose pants and a long sleeved white shirt that clung to his strong form. The sleeves were rolled up to his shoulders, revealing patient arm bands bound to his arms, some falling to his wrist each with a full name of each soul of a fallen human he had recently gleaned. Now he was hungrily waiting for two more to appear… no one more. He felt a wrist band bind to him, but soon after loosen its grip as it faded away. Whether it was Leo or Astril…he would find out soon enough…

Lucifer looked up, taking in the dark sprawling grounds, the labyrinth of gardens, and the reflective pool that mirrored the lights glowing about of the mansion. Exhaling out into the cold air, Lucifer walked forward and straight to the pool. His feet were now barefoot as they touched the water’s surface, but not breaking through. One of the perks of being part of the old family, smirked Lucifer. The successive line of Satans, with him at the helm as the fifth and creator of the advocates. He smiled and his movement sent ripples across the once flawless surface. His father, the late Satan, would have of course approved his new game, his mother, well what could she do, knowing what she had gotten herself into, it was in Lucifer’s nature and very essence of being. Lucifer stepped out of the pool and up the marble steps leading to the old wooden double door. Entering the ‘ole fashioned way he was humming a little tune to himself. The foray was lit and noise was coming from the kitchen, but Lucifer had no desire to venture back into the kitchen, instead his bare feet brought him towards the living room. He smiled into the living room where a warm fire crackled invitingly. He walked into the room and straight to the largest armchair situated nearest the flames. Lucifer propped his head onto one arm, the other lounged over the arm of the chair, the dancing flames were reflected in his eyes.

Leo was quite surprise that the deal was made so quickly. Usually a distressed soul found themselves stuck between a rock and a hard place within their consciousness. However what took him really aback was Gabriel’s show, quite persuasive as last time, Leo mused to himself taking another sip to finish his drink. He was no longer needed here and would be wise to hurry to Lucifer’s side, but his decision making was put on hold when a human entered the café. He had not put up defenses for those who could wander in on them.

Upon seeing her confused look Leo stood up from leaning on the cool window pane. “Just rehearsing for a play, Camelot. And yes, a refill would be appreciated.” Leo swiftly replied as he brought his empty cup towards the newcomer. He then turned to Gabriel and said, “I believe you have those lines down very well, how about you quickly finish the rest so we can return the armor back to the costume department.” Gabriel huffed into his mask then turned his attentions back onto Falor and bowed his head. “Your request for guardianship is granted, I will be your light and protector. Call upon my name when I’m needed and I shall…never fail you…” The last words had been stumbled upon, put a light glowed from under Gabriel’s hand, which rested upon his beating heart. He stood up, the armor creaking from being stuck in that position for a while.

Before the Frédérique returned with a filled cup of French vanilla coffee, the two had left the café. Leo had forgotten his scone and Gabriel had some difficulty exiting through the café door, but they were gone and everything went back to normal. “Aren’t you not suppose to reveal yourself to anyone other than the distressed soul?” Leo inquired, knowing that the rule didn’t apply to advocates, but to have winged angels walking down the street. Luckily it was dark and the pair found shelter in a nearby allay way. “We are to abide by that law, but…” Gabriel couldn’t finish, he had been surprised to have his offer taken, he was a guardian once more. “Have no fear, I shall not rat you out, though I wouldn’t put it pass the big man to already know what you did, but I’m sure he will be proud of you success.” Leo reassured him with a pat on the metallic shoulder, Leo was tall but no one compared to Gabriel. Gabriel didn’t know what to say, but even through his metallic armor he could make out the warmth of Leo’s touch. Leo only smiled and with a nod he bade Gabriel “Farewell,” before melting into the shadows. After a pause Gabriel’s wings took flight, he would take the long way home…he needed to think.

User ImageFalor was still shocked from what she had just accepted. What did she get herself into? The both of them had seemed a little surprised at her quick acceptance. However, Falor specifically knew why she had accepted it so quickly. Clistophar wanted that for her. She was sure that if he was an angel up in Heaven, he would of come for her himself to lead her to the light. Falor was struck out of her trance, looking to Frédérique. "Oh, hello, Frédérique. Oh, uhm, yes, I would love a refill!" Falor fumbled with her empty cup, holding it delicately in both hands. Her eyes were still wide, and her thoughts were scrambled. She wished that the night would be over. Her concern evidently showed in her actions, because her hands were trembling. Like she had been near death. But had she? Or was she?

"That was strange..." Falor giggled a bit, wondering why the angel hadn't come down in regular garb. Did they only have armor in Heaven? It was something to think about. And people did say that the Devil was attractive...was he? The whole ordeal just made Falor think. Her brother would be laughing at the empty expression on her face, which in response she would say shut up or something to the same effect.

Ah, now this is interesting. Rayden listened to Lucifer's words, for once, without any hint of disgust. Instead, Rayden listened to him with interest, a lot of it, as for once his boss spoke with a darker, more serious tone of voice instead of his cheerful and playful expression. As the Devil mentioned him not interested in going back in peace to the Heavens, and his loss, Crowe couldn't help but to flash the biggest, most wicked grin he could under his bandages, the dirty white wrappings kissing the curve of the mummy's lips. He felt as if he just had stabbed the Prince of Hell on a weak spot; this was definitively something to think about, and bring up again later. Unfortunately, the grin Rayden was showing to Lucifer turned into a more neutral expression as Mitsu, Luci's cousin, came crashing in.

Standing still for so long, Rayden started to feel his feet asking for some rest, but this was far more important than sitting down for a few minutes: without really noticing, Mitsu was exposing one of Lucifer's potential weak spots other than sweets. "So, I was right after all... This is a touchy subject for him." He thought to himself, and silently let out a dark, slow laugh.

Mitsu now addressing the mummified advocate, Crowe turned his head to look at the lady. "So, the Big Man's got a weak point after all." He replied with a light smile. "I like you already. Thank you for the information, heh heh." Rayden took a short pause, then cleared his throat; talking to Satan's cousin probably wouldn't be the best of ideas for him, seeing as she would most likely care about her cousin and take his side... But, seeing as he'd have nothing better to do, and might be able to get some more information out of her...
"Rayden. Nice to meet you Mitsu." Crowe extended a hand to her. "I'm guessing someone spoke to you about me, am I right?"

Frédérique's eyes kept shifting from Leo, to Gabriel, to Falor, to Leo. The moment was a little awkward, she thought; it's not every day that you have a tall man(she assumed) in heavy armour kneeling down and holding the hand of a lady in a small café, while a third party observed them with a French Vanilla coffee. At Leo's reply about the whole situation being rehearsal, Fey blankly stared at him, her jade eyes locked with his unusual red eyes. "Wow, nice eyes..." She thought for a moment, before snapping out of her thoughts. Her head turned to the angel as he spoke his last sentence to Falor. "Aw... So romantic. Why do men like this only have to be fictional anyway? I'd like a guy telling me the same." She thought out loud again, a hand on her heart, a light sigh escaping her lips. DuRêve took the empty cup from Falor's hands, and Leo's as well. "So, refills for Vanilla and Handsome. Just give me a minute, I'll be right back. Oh and, nice costume!" The last sentence directed to Gabriel. Fey nodded with a warm smile, before heading off to the shop's counter.

A few moments later, Frédérique, in her work uniform, came back with the two cups of coffee, now full. The waitress put the two cups on Falor's table, and as soon as she let go of the cups, she brought her fingers to her mouth to blow on them a little. "There you go. So... Where's the handsome one and the guy in armour? They left?" The redhead asked, looking around the rather empty place to see if they just weren't elsewhere.

User ImageFalor nodded, sipping her coffee. Falor looked at Frédérique; her small stature made Falor seem taller, which she never liked. "Yes, they left. What'd I get myself into, though?" Falor was increasingly curious. She took a thoughtful sip of her tea, still wondering about Gabriel. All she had to do was call his name and he would be there for her? Was he really an angel? He looked way too tall to truly be human. And that declaration of loyalty sounded so genuine; there was no way a human man could have said the same without arousing some sort of suspicion. Well, from her, anyway.

Falor snapped herself out of her thoughts, remembering that Frédérique was still standing there, at her table. It was a very good cup of french vanilla coffee. Falor didn't want it to go to waste, and quiet honestly, having someone to converse with after her ordeal would make it easier to get a grasp upon. Even though she was a constant at the cafe, she had never really talked to anybody but Morgan, and those conversations usually lasted only five minutes. Falor extended an invitation, for once. "Please, sit down. It would be a waste for that tea to get cold."

" Joshua dearest, the music you would create from just this simple wish, would be so pure, so beautiful that it could even make angels cry. All you have to do is ask it. You would never be denied, never have to fear of people not accepting the wonder you'd be creating. The esteem you would receive would have you going down in history as one of the greatest composers to ever grace the earth. Like a modern Mozart or Bach. Just ask it of me, my love, and it will happen." Her voice was ever so delicate and pure, dancing on the cold breeze caused by the river below them. She watched the man leaning over the edge of the slick, concrete bride, his breathing seemed faster than normal. She scooted even closer to him, placing a small, warm hand on his, her little fingers wrapping around his slender digits. " Dont be afraid, you'll be brilliant like the sun, and shine in your listeners minds eye. Just ask, and you shall receive."

Frédérique stood on her spot still at Falor's invitation. It would be nice to have someone to discuss with, indeed, and "Vanilla" was one customer the café had often seen. The hesitant waitress looked around at the other tables: only one other customer was in the place, reading his newspaper with his usual black coffee and plain bagel that Lyra put down for him; the usual, he was another regular. "Huh... Well... Lyra already has George covered, so sure! Why not?" She replied to the invitation as she sat down in front of Falor, giving her a friendly smile. "Seems like you got yourself into a medieval play, actually. I didn't know you were into acting! Or were you just trying to help your friend practice?" Fey answered Falor's previous question before taking a sip out of Leo's cup, now her's, even though the redhead was probably not supposed to answer it. Quite obviously, Frédérique had absolutely no clue on what the real situation was: she pretty much bought whatever Leo said and took it for granted.

"It's too bad we never got to talk much before. I guess tonight's the night we finally get to really meet, after one year of seeing eachother pretty regularly."

[Sorry it took me so long to respond. D: My computer got a major virus and I ended up having to wipe the ENTIRE thing...]

Her voice was absolutely beautiful, enchanting, lovely. The soft pressure of her eyes on his frame almost made him blush, and Joshua turned his blue eyes down to the ground below him in some sort of shame. What man could not be affected by a woman of such otherworldly beauty? He was not below being mortal, peeking up at her in one flustered look and rubbing a hand along the line of the thin blond five o'clock shadow he'd started acquiring. The violin in his hands lay clutched tightly in one of his hands, and his ears accepted what the woman was saying but for some reason he did not feel as if he could come to believing. There was no such thing as fairy tales, he had learned long ago. Though he wanted it...he knew it simply just could not be.

He heard the tone of her voice, and he knew. She was too beautiful. She was too...he didn't know. He remembered suddenly, with startling clarity, the face surfacing in the river...but somehow, this time he was not as afraid of her as he had been before. She had been so lovely it had been terrifying - it had been as if he could see the face of every demon in every perfect line of her porcelain face. He had become a Christian again, believing fervently in God, clutching at the cross that lay on his chest. A she-demon had been directed once again to tempt him, and he could only hope that his faith in God would save him. Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned... His prayers ran rampant in his head as he mustered up the courage to address her.

"Pardon me, miss," His tone was light, and he let a soft smile cover his features. "A dream is but a dream. I am good, but I am not good enough...I know what you are, and I am unwilling to accept the tempting words of a mistress of the devil. I can sense the dark taint that coats your words in venom...how long ago was it that you gave up your own soul, for someone else? It is strange, you know, how unselfish human beings can be in the end..."

Astril smiled, brushing his hand ever so slightly as she let go of his fingers. " Ahh...how right you are, my Joshua, humans are no weak simpletons. They're a lot stronger than even they know, and your right about fairy tales. Is all that we see, or seem, But a dream withing a dream. Edgar Allen Poe, he was so brilliantly deep. Your question...would you really like to know? To have the knowledge of what I did to become what I am? I will surely answer truthfully, if thats what you'd like." Her pure, ringing tone tinted with the dark truth about her past. Memories strangling her mind, weaving there way through her heart, her emotions, like black tentacles. Snakes of hate and loneliness slithering around inside her. She felt a bit uncomfortable, and took a step back to look Joshua in his crystalline eyes, her body almost immobilized by them. She loved how pure they were, how wondrous human eyes were before they lost their lust for life. Unlike her own, the man's eyes reflected a shimmer of life, a fire, a spark. His eyes were truly the windows to his soul.

.::Marius::.

~*~

Based on the beautiful presentation of both, Marius had thought that the bird and letter would have given better news. At first, he felt the surprise and honor that he always felt when God personally gave him a letter, but they were overshadowed by the sense of dread he felt. Guiding a distressed soul away from the darkness was one of his least favorite activities, as it often involved politics and deep moral issues, none of which he liked at all. However, it involved a good amount of bullshitting, not that he would ever admit it, so he had that to look forward to.

The sheet attached to letter - giving a profile, image and all, about the human - gave him a little more relief. Apparently he was extremely Christian, which made Marius' job much easier. However, in order to fully milk the advantage, Marius had to quickly change into something more appropriate.

When he emerged from his place to find a portal, for he didn't want to risk injury by teleporting - he hadn't done it in the long while, Marius was dressed in the classical archangel attire - long flowing white robe and unveiled wings. He hadn't put on his serene expression yet, but that was for later. Finally, he found the closest portal to Earth, stepped onto it, and waved his angel card over the scanner. In a moment, he was on his way to Earth.

Marius chose to teleport a bit away from the distressed soul to make the proper entrance, only to discover that all his preparation had made him late. Late meaning giving the advocate too much time to work on the soul.

While the advocate was busy spacing out, Marius "descended from the heavens." He used what magic he could to give himself a white glow around him as he slowly made his way to the ground, having not enough endurance to simply hover as he talked.

"Joshua," he began in his best Archangel impression. "You are being rewarded for your faith. I have been sent to help you fend away this demon of hell," he continuing, beginning the golden-lined words. "Her beauty is a distraction from the road to Heaven, and her offer is a lie," he said, concern in his eyes. He began to step towards to two, palms up with his hands to the side.

"Believe in yourself, Joshua. All good things have rough roads...but the result is worth it. If you work hard at your skill - which is beautiful - you can produce the music of the heavens. Would it not be better to have earned that ability? If you take the demon's offer, and the chance happens that you rise up, it will be a hollow success. An earned reward is rich in delight," he said before pausing. A ranting angel was one less received.
