Valiant smiled to her, taking the hand lightly. For some reason she trusted this woman, and it surprised the hell out of her.
Her eyes went back to her knife, watching the last vibrations end and wanted desperately to get it.
Her gaze drifted downward as she recollected her thoughts.
Her, like Raco. That she seriously doubted. And if so, let the world have mercy.
A bubble of laughter erupted from her mouth at the thought.
If there was a world left.

Karin grinned back at Val, finally the girl was opening up...a little, but something was always better than nothing. "Common, lets say you and me head back to the fire, the fish should be done by now and I tell you, they won't give a second thought about waiting for us." she said shaking her head. And she knew Raco would be waiting for them, quite anxiously at that. What his obsession was with this girl, she'd probably never know, but it still piqued her curiosity.
Indeed Raco was waiting for their return, he was getting antsy and ready to go get them himself. The fish was done and a few of the cats were eying the fish, waiting to dig in, but they knew they had to wait for Raco to let them get it.

Valiant grinned and fallowed the other cat down the tree. She easily pulled the knife from the tree and silently eased her way into the clearing. When she saw raco she eased her way though the people and folded herself down next to him.
"she's nice."
She said quietly resting a head on his shoulder. The small cat was tired, but felt immensely better. Secretly she hoped she did not make Raco worry too much.
The big cat was growing on her.
And then she imagined them both pissed off in the same room, and started laughing out loud. Valiant quieted quickly, but not before a light pink blush crept up and engulfed her face.

Karin slipped off back to a group of girls after running a hand of Raco's shoulders.
Raco nodded to Karin as she slipped back into the mass of the group. Raco's put a hand on top on Val's head. "Yes, s'e's a nice one, just watc' out for 'er t'oug' s'e'll go after you, s'e's bi." he said with a slight laugh.
One of the men walked up to Raco, he was a good looking cat, fit and sleek. "The food is done Raco, can we eat now?" he asked cocking his head to the side and giving a smile to Val and held out his hand. "Rikimaru at your service." he said winking at Val.
Raco nodded waving out a hand. "Go a'ead, our guest of 'onor is back wit' us." he said giving Val a nudge. "Let's go get you somet'ing to eat." he said with his usual half smile.

Valiant looked down and flushed lightly. Karin was bi. But then what was valiant? She loved Schmee as more then a mentor, but she considered herself straight. That didn't matter now anyway. She doubted anyone would ever want her after what happened.
Lost in her thoughts she barely noticed the male in front of her. So when she came to she nearly jumped back in surprise. Her light flush turned bright red.
"i-im val." she muttered quietly gathering her composure. Valiant took his hand, testing his strength. To her it seemed even between them, but that didn't matter, it was what you did with it.
Valiant nodded to Raco's words and fallowed behind him.

Rikimaru gave a grin and gave Val's hand a kiss. "My pleasure to welcome you to our humble family." he said.
Raco scoffed. "Riki, I believe t'at you s'ould not try to mislead Valiant to a false idea t'at we are 'umble in any way. We are more rat'er dysfunctional." he said laughing leading Val towards the cooked fish fresh off the fire.
Riki shook his head and headed back to the group Karin had wandered of to.
Raco grabbed two good sized servings of the fish, hand one over to Val. T'here you go. Caught t'is one myself, not muc' for t'e water, but it's wort' getting wet w'en you can get fis' t'is big." he said taking a big into the fish.

Valiant drew back her hand quickly, reisting the urge to whipe her hand on her short skirt..
She watched as everyone gathered around the fish. Val took the fish gratefully smiling at raco.
She nodded respectfully while he spoke, keeping quiet after the hand kissing.
Valiant crawled back into her own mind.

Raco could tell Val hadn't like her welcome by Rikimaru and he would have a talk with him later. Had gave Val's shoulder a slight rub. "Just ignore Rikimaru, 'e's 'armless I can promise you t'at." he said. He meant it though Riki wouldn't do anything, he was harmless and was usually nothing but show. But he sure did a hell of a job holding his own on missions.
The rest of the Anbu stayed mainly clear of Raco and Val, if they were meant to be social with Val and him then Raco wouldn't be letting on the signals that at the time they only knew.

Valiants gaze fell upon everyone around. She didn't know most of them, and that meant the night had basically been pointless. She wanted to learn, and she knew she would have to get used to most of them... she just couldn't find the courage.
"...... I feel odd here." she said to no one in particular after raco spoke. It was true, everyone was so open, and it was as though she would never understand.

Raco gave his half smile. "Don't worry, we all feel a little strange t'e first time. T'is is only your first time around everyone. Give yourself a little time, Val." he said giving her a one armed hug.
This was true though, even he had felt odd and out of place when he had first joined Youko and the others before the Anbu had been created. Even at times he still felt out of place, but it always made it better because his subdued nature was usually balanced out my Youko's exuberance.
"Whenever you are ready, you can go back." he whispered to Val, sure the others would miss her, but had to know just as well about Val's need to ease into her new life with them.

Val nodded once, smiled and stood up.
One day maybe she could lead a life worth living, but she wasn't there yet.
She turned and walked through the people surrounding her and headed back the way she had come. Today she had learned alot. About herself, and about the people she was now living with.
They would just have to get used to her more introverted nature, it was least one thing had stuck about her.
