Sofi makes a pitiful whining sound, drooping even further... further... further...
Until WHAM. Her face and her plate become intimately familiar with one another.
Surprisingly, Luna and Jokeph seem rather unfazed by the fact that it seems her entire face has been flattened against the plate. In fact, Luna seems rather relieved. Not that she was hoping for something like this to actually occur, but, knowing Sofi, such things are inevitable. And Luna would very much rather Setsushi encounter this HERE than at the cafe, where he is liable to cause a scene.
"Ow." comes the muffled complaint from Sofi.

But before Setsushi can properly panic, Rika has set her sandwich down and, fixing her monocle so her eye can focus properly, leaned forward to peer intently at Sofi. "Is this an instance of that magic you mentioned?" she asks, keenly interested.
Or does Setsushi have to call a doctor!?!? gonk
Give Rika a second, first! she projects at him, a slight excited feeling flipping past her walls as she nearly bumps her knees on the table in her hurry to rush to her pile of magical instruments to get the one she wants.

"Mrrfle mrrf," Sofi answers, sitting up. The plate is still firmly adhered to her face as she casually shakes her head as if to say NOPE. SHE'S FINE.
I'm glad you get to see this now, rather than in the cafe, Luna answers. NOW, she believes, Setsushi realizes why she'd warned him about her cousin.

Is she all right, though!? Are there long-term effects? ... Setsushi assumes that since Madame does not seem too upset by the scene, it is fairly routine, but does it mean he will have to be careful of what he says in order to avoid causing her damage??
While Setsushi wrings his hands, Rika has returned with a small metal bar attached to something that vaguely resembles a thermometer. She holds it out across the table in Sofi's direction eagerly... ... ... then draws back, frowing, and stares at the reading, waving the wand at Setsushi, Luna, and Jokeph as well.
... Her equipment seems inefficient. Setsushi is the one giving her the biggest reading, she says, lighting bonking him in the head with the device.

"Mmmmnh!" Now, Sofi pulls at the plate, but it seems to be stuck to her face, as evidenced by the extremely disturbing stretching taking place.
Luna didn't know about long-term effects, but from what she understands, this has been happening fairly regularly since Sofi was a child. And she's perfectly fine. There was this one time Luna's daughter kicked her in the shin, and her leg snapped in half-- but did not break.

... ... ... If Madame puts it that way, Setsushi marvels, turning to look at Sofi again and wondering if that doesn't constitute a sort of invincibility?
... Though Rika supposes she shouldn't tell Sofi that she should not be able to breathe like that?

Luna is not exactly willing to test the limits of this invincibility. She doesn't think that, were Sofi subjected to experimentation, such powers would "kick in".
Parts of Sofi's face detach and snap back to their original positions, leaving only her lips attached to the plate. She holds the plate at arms' length, tilts her head back, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand.....!
SNAP!

Experimentation? Setsushi repeats, slightly horrified. Surely someone would not experiment upon the limits?

"Your magic is very interesting," Rika says, now revealing a slight smile. "There seem to be many new types of objects and properties for me to learn about in this world. Whatever you can teach me about your powers, what it is like to have them, I would appreciate it."
"But don't feel pressured," Setsushi adds, giving Rika a look that is jokingly disapproving.

Sofi BEAMS.
"You think I'm cool?!" This is all she seems to get out of it. "I don't know much about my superpowers yet but I promise when I learn more I'll show them off for you!"
Luna thinks Sofi just wants to show off.

... Setsushi isn't certain it would be so bad to allow her the opportunity, though.
"I would be grateful," Rika replies, her face blank again as she nods slightly.
"What of the others who are like you? ... That I believe were mentioned," Rika says, looking around the group, a little uncertain. "Would I be able to meet them and learn about them as well?"

Huh? sweatdrop ... Oh, well, "Cleaning tables, washing dishes and silverware, noting orders, bringing out cakes... I do not produce the food, as baking is quite beyond my ability."
"... That sounds rather physical," Rika says, thoughtful.
