Kendra spoke slowly, not wanting to confuse him.
"No,... Not out of your left eye Logan. A shard of glass was removed but there was nothing they could do to save your vision."
Kendra looked to the floor, then to his hand.
"I'm so sorry."

Logan stared down at nothing in particular. He couldn't believe it all. He couldn't believe what was happening. He couldn't believe that just a few hours prior, everything was normal and now he was in a hospital bed with no vision in his left eye. His eyes wandered to the IV in his arm. A scowl slowly tugged at the edges of his lips.
"No...." he said, quietly at first. He wrapped his fingers around the tube and his scowl grew. "No...this isn't happening. This....this tube in my arm....it's not real. It can't be." His eyebrows furrowed and he took in a deep breath as he tightened the muscles in his arms, getting ready to pull the IV from his arm. "It's not real! It's not!"

Kendra, acting mostly on instinct and less on common sense, clamped her hand down on his Iv while slapping him quite firmly across the face with her free arm.
"Don't act like a child Logan. This IS real and hurting yourself is only going to make you out as an idiot."
She glared at him fr a moment further, trying to decide whether she could trust him or not.

Logan's eyebrows were still furrowed though this time it was more in panic and fear. "I can't...." he choaked out. Despite his fighting, his grip loosened slightly. "I can't!" He lowered his head, the stinging from Kendra's slap still burning on his face.
His mind was still fuzzy from the drugs and the anesthetics. He probably wouldn't have reacted as such if it weren't for the previous circumstances. It was all just too much for him to handle at the moment.
"Mr. Sykes!" a doctor called as he entered the room carrying a clipboard. "Is everything alright?" He looked to Kendra when he asked the question more than Logan. He noticed the man's hand on his IV and was ready to act if he had to. There was still a sedative connected to the IV's if he needed it.

Kendra looked to the doctor, a tad worried. "He's not taking this too well. I think the meds might be clouding his judgment. Can you help with that?"
Kendra noticed that she was practically growling at the man now and quickly reverted to a kinder tone.
"We can't have him hurting himself."

The doctor looked at Kendra as she spoke, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Well, if you think the medicine is what is causing him to act this way, which is quite possible, I could turn the amount down, but I wouldn't recomend that. He sustained far too many injuries, he needs the medication in order to at least be somewhat comfortable. Otherwise he would be in a lot of pain." The man paused, looking at his chart for a moment, thinking before looking back up to Kendra. "Or I can give him a dose of some of the sedatives again and knock him out for a bit. We can slowly wean him off of the pain medicine at the same time."
Logan shook his hand free from Kendra's, lifting it away from the IV. He brought it up to his brow and placed it there. He heard every word the two of them exchanged, but he said nothing. He couldn't. He had nothing he could say.

Kendra nodded, slowly releasing some of the pressure she had been putting on the Iv.
"That sounds like a brilliant idea doctor. Lets do that....." She turned to Logan and smiled gently, "Good night again Logan. I'll be here when you wake in the morn."

Logan didn't lift his head from under his hand. He simply sat there as the doctor nodded his head. He went over next to Logan's bed and added the sedative. He looked over to Logan who slowly seemed to crumple where he sat. The man came over and gently helped the now sleeping Logan lay back down.
"I will lower his dosage of pain medicine just slightly for now while he sleeps," the man said as he did what he spoke of. "It won't be enough to make too much of an effect, but I don't want to shock his system by lowering it too much. I will come back in a few hours once he is awake to check up on him." He paused and turned to look at Kendra. "Are you going to be alright until then?"
((Feel free to reply to that, I just figured you'd rather reply to something else.))
Another few hours passed and Logan slept, his unconscious mind unaware of his current predicament.
He slowly awoke yet again to the now quieter sound of the hospital room. It was darker now that the sunlight no longer streamed in through the windows. Blurry memories rushed back to him. His hand slowly lifted to his forehead stiff because of the cast. He closed his eyes again. He could feel a soft ache that seemed to envelope his entire body, but it almost wasn't noticeable due to his distracted thoughts.
Slowly, he removed his hand and sat up. The process was almost painfully slow for he tried to prop himself up with his left arm which was in a cast. He changed his mind and used his right arm, only to find that the IV had gotten caught on the railing on the side of the bed. He gently pulled it free and began to sit up but found that the slight upward movement gave him a headache. He ignored it for the time until he was in an upright position and then put his hand back to his forehead. He rubbed the skin that wasn't covered by the bandage over his eye. His had was cold.

.: Kendra said yes to the doctor. Whooo. :.
Papers were scattered around the plush chair that sat beside the room's wide window. A small table was set beside it but it's surface was also covered with the work of Logan's students. They didn't know how bad the situation was yet and Kendra had even debated telling them. That was up to Logan though, she later decided.
Shafts of moon light streamed through the window accompanied by the yellow hue of human light from the town's lamps. Splashes of yellow and blue were cast across Kendra's sleeping body as she rested within the chair. Her body was half way turned so her arms and head could rest on the window sill.
"L...ogan.... don't... go..," she whispered gently in her sleep, a single tear rolling down her cheek.
The rest of the hospital was relatively quiet in comparison to the morning hours. Only the gentle beeping of the machines echoes off the room's walls.

Logan's head lifted up at the sound of a voice. He looked over to see Kendra sitting there. Yes, Kendra. He remembered her name now. He stared at her for a long moment, trying to figure out why she was there. His mind was was wondering for a moment when another thought came to mind: Work. What was he going to do about work? He would have to call and tell them what happened. He would need a substitute. He instinctively put his hands to his thighs, feeling for his phone in his pockets. Of course, he wasn't in his regular clothing: he was wearing a hospital gown. So he looked around the room. Where was his phone? He paused.....where was his phone? Panic entered his mind for a moment before he decided he needed to instead find a hospital phone. He looked around again. There were none in the room so he attempted to swing his feet over the edge of the bed. The heart rate monitor began to quicken as his pulse grew faster. He felt his right foot hit the ground and then tried to get his left foot, which was significantly more difficult since it was in a cast. He felt around for a bit before he felt a slight pressure. He then slowly shifted his weight onto his legs until he was standing fully. He had to balance himself out as he wobbled a bit. He grabbed the railing of the bed and felt something tug at his arm. He looked to see the IV still running to the small wheely thing. He grabbed it and slowly attempted to walk, still wobbling.

Slowly Kendra woke from her light sleep. It seemed like ever since she had come here she had been sleeping so much lighter than before. Perhaps it was because she was so worried about Logan. The beeps had become quicker and she instinctively pushed herself up from her resting spot to check on Logan.
She hadn't expected to see him standing outside of his bed. At first she thought it was a doctor as he mind shook the sleep from itself.
"Mmm...... Logan? Logan!" she said both worriedly and angry as she stood and started to rush towards him. She put her hand on his arm, holding on firmly.
"You shouldn't be up Logan! You need to get back in bed."

Logan didn't even turn to look when Kendra addressed him. He was concentrating on walking. Even when she grabbed his arm, he didn't stop.
"I need...to get to a phone!" he said, using the pole that his IV was attached to to steady himself. His eyebrows, or at least the one that was visible, were furrowed and his eyes narrowed in concentration. He took another step, trying to make his way to the door.
The drugs were still taking effect on his mind. But this was also part of the hard-headed personality he had. He had his mind set on something and he was determined to accomplish it.

"Logan...hey...," she scolded, walking in front of him in attempt to make him stop, "Logan! Just... wait!"
She gave a sigh as she placed her palm upon his chest. She looked off to the side as she thought and hoped to the heavens that Logan wouldn't plow her down.
"If.. if I go get you a phone... Will you lie back down? What do you need a phone for anyway? Don't you realize the time. Oh! Of coarse you wouldn't. I'm sure you're still wacked up on those drugs."
She sighed, taking a step back. Her hand slid down his body as she let it fall. It swung to her side as she took another step back and started to turn.
"Please... Just... Go back to bed.... I'll be back with your blasted phone."

This time, Logan stopped. He looked down at Kendra as she placed her hands on his chest. He stared and listened before slowly nodding his head. "Alright..." he said, his voice quieter now.
As she stepped away, he slowly took a few steps back until he felt the bed against his thighs. Painstakingly, he sat back down, finding everything quite difficult. It took him a good minute or two to finally get back into a comfortable position on the hospital bed.

Kendra, after taking a second to think about what exactly she was going to do, decided handing him her own cell phone would be the best until they could get a phone in his room.
She left the room for a moment to go talk to the lady at the nurses station, requesting the phone, before returning and heading to her purse where she dug around until she found her sleek yet simple cell.
"Here," she said as she walked over and held out the phone for him. While she waited she straightened the blankets for him, smoothing out all the creases and folds.
"Will you tell me what you're going to do? I might be able to save you a phone call. And they should have a regular phone in here by lunch tomorrow."
