Rei looked up in shock as the General was already rushing towards him, lance at the ready. Dodging to the side, Rei threw the bottle towards Amelia, hoping to hit her with it. Broken glass in one's face does quite the number on one's abilities, after all. As Rei landed on the ground to the side, he reached out a leg, kicking the back of Amelia's leg, in an attempt to knock her off balance. Quickly pushing himself up to his feet, Rei pulled out his semi-infamous Heal staff, the one that had been used for practice against many an ally's intentional thwacking, and assumed a defensive stance with it. Sure, he could do the wussy 'slap-with-the-staff' attack, but he'd seen enough to be able to hopefully hold his own against the armored opponent.

Amelia didn't notice anything Rhys did. Her attention was focused on the battle; lose that focus, and she was likely to lose. And up here, she didn't want to know what happened to the one that lost. Amelia stumbled as he managed to dodge her strike, just barely lifting up a gauntlet before her face as the Elixir shattered against the glass. A few shards nicked her cheeks, but nothing embedded itself in her skin, thankfully.

Amelia let out a derisive "Tch" from between her lips, spitting blood out onto the 'floor' of dark magic. It sizzled away, something she tried to ignore. Rei, instead of using his spells now, had his Heal staff out like it could defend him effectively.

...Wait, seriously?

Amelia didn't try to linger on the subject. She ran forward again, falling into a slide before stabbing her lance at his thigh, aiming to cripple.

One minute, Amelia was right in front of her. The next, Ninian was blinded by the purple light, and Amelia and Rei were floating above them.

Oh, no. . . .

Ninian watched in stunned shock as the two began to fight. A moment later, she remembered that she, too, was hurt. She pulled an elixir from her satchel, applying it to cuts, scrapes, and burns, some of which she couldn't remember getting.

It was too late to chase after Nils; he was too far gone into the woods. Hopefully, Siegell would be able to catch him and stop him. No more could the dancer help Amelia, and this fight was between general and druid now.

Physically and mentally exhausted, Ninian collapsed on the ground, leaning against a tree.

Nils, please come back safe. . . .

Her head lolled sideways, eyes closing as the half-dragoness fell asleep from her exhaustion.

Thump... Thump... Thump...

Right overhead, Shastah's wings were heard, and then off into the distance. Had Siegell missed him? Maybe... maybe he hadn't seen him fall, maybe he thought he was still running!

There was a quiet thump and the crunch of dirt under armored riding boots. Siegell appeared over Nils like a wraith in white and silver. One gloved hand reached down and pulled the bard up to his feet by the wrist...

And the other slipped out of his cloak to dangle a small silver locket in front of Nils' face. "Just relax," he murmured.

Nils' face widened with shock, his eyes following the locket. At first, he was confused. What was that? What was its importance? At first, the piece of jewelry was meaningless to him.

Then, a name leaped into his head once more.

Ninian!

He gritted his teeth, one hand reaching up to grip his hair tightly. NINIAN! He whimpered softly, his head aching like crazy. "... ... Agn..." He breathed out, the pain he was dealing with evident in his voice. "S-stop..." He protested weakly.

Siegell gently reached down, stroking Nils' hair comfortingly. "Ssssh," he whispered, still twirling the locket. His hand moved slowly to the back of Nils' head, stroking his neck. "Ssssh," he whispered again. "It'll all be over in a second."

He smiled comfortingly and bashed Nils' forehead against his breastplate, hard enough to knock him unconscious.

Sue watched helplessly as the Apocalypse swallowed both Rei and Amelia into what was literally a separate world from which she stood. She cursed herself, for once again being unable to return Nils or Rei to normal. Of course, the trooper had no time to sulk.

She KNEW what was coming next after that spell, having seen it before. It wasn't good at all. She would have to be prepared... when one of her other host club members came out of the darkness... to shoot him.

Not to stun.

Rei.. there is no other way, is there? You've lost yourself.

It wasn't that she didn't have faith in Amelia, it's just... how could a human survive a spell meant to slay dragons? She knew she'd stand no chance.

Ninian's collaps reminded Rhys just how tired he had become, now that the adrenaline was wearing off. He'd seen Siegell dash off after Nils, but he had the feeling the wyvern lord wasn't out to kill. That just seemed... amazingly pointless. He couldn't be sure of that, but if Ninian could find a way to sleep, then maybe she wasn't that worried.

Rhys didn't see a reason to worry, either--a freaking sky dome was, well, not nearly as easy to breach.

But what happens if Amelia wins, and Rei gets knocked out? Wouldn't the magic dissipate? So then, wouldn't she fall to the ground? If Amelia wins, they're both in danger...

But again, no sense worrying about it. He laid back on the ground, observing the fight, resting, fighting to keep his eyes open despite the exhaustion.

Why is Rhys so eased? Sue wondered. How could he possibly be calm when he probably knew the outcome too?

The nomad didn't lower her bow. She knew she'd have to fire it soon enough. I'm so sorry, Rei... FD... Milord... everyone. I'm sorry for what I'm about to do.

Now she finally understood why Rath went on his migration. He felt the same shame as she did now. I too will vanish in the winds after this.

She watched, and waited for the Apocalypse to end.

Ed was thankful for the healing spell and struggled to her feet. The dull echoes of pain still shook her nerves, but she was well enough to at least be on all four paws. The wolf blinked hard and shook her head to clear her eyesight and her mind, staggering slightly from one side to another, dazed and in an argument with herself.

She still felt drained of energy. That was a bit of an issue. The wolf stood in one spot, watching events unfold around her with dread and indecision. She didn't know how to handle an ice dragon, and the very performance struck her enough to keep the wolf standing, thinking, wondering.

And then Nils retreated for some strange reason, and Ed's thoughts cleared, but by that time Rei had gotten ahold of Rhys and Amelia. Ed slowly turned around, watching the event solemnly. She backed away a few steps and observed. Now that she was running on duty rather than rage, her mind was working better, and she understood that there was nothing she could do.

...But Sue was about to fire. There was something about the nomadic girl as well that stirred unease in the wolf. Ed padded over, concerned but curious, trying to decipher Sue's expression as she glanced at the nocked arrow two or three times.

Nils blinked, flinching slightly at the contact.
He's being... strangely comforting.
SHUT UP!! His eyes were still fixated on the locket, though he looked up briefly when he said it would all be over. "... Eh?" He stared at Siegell as the masked man smiled. What did he mean?

WHAM!

He got his answer rather painfully. He was out like a light before he could react in any way.

The Druid smiled as Amelia spat out blood. Good, she's hurt, at least a little. Less for me to do. Rei braced himself as Amelia ran towards him again, situating the staff gem-side-down. As the spearhead came close to him, Rei shoved it with the staff, using the momentum to aim a kick at Amelia's side.

(( And the terribly short posts continue! D: ))

Amelia scowled as her weapon crashed heavily into the Heal staff, giving only a dull clunking sound as she tried to force on and dig into his flesh with the sharp spearhead. He managed to push away from her in her sudden moment of uncertainty, however, and a sharp kick to her side elicited a shocked breath. Amelia recovered as quickly as she could, though, and turned to the side, planting the butt of her spear against his chest, a hard shove that would hopefully slow him enough for him to knock him out in any way she could.

Sue lowered her bow, just a minute to notice the wolf staring at her with great unease. She spoke, the sorrow clearly conquering her, as the nomad's words quivered. "You... you know what I have to do, don't you? Rei... I'm sorry... Nino... your son... I'm sorry..."

Rhys kept his eyes open, feeling that he didn't want to fall asleep. Not yet. He couldn't, not if Amelia had severe injuries afterward.

Still, it begged the question:

"Sue."

Rhys turned his head to the only member left unharmed and un-stuck in battle.

"Amelia might win, you know. I can't say it with total certainty, but... if she does win, and Rei is knocked out, their aerial barrier may vanish. If that... if that..."

He coughed a few times, feeling a bit nauseous now.

"...Happens... they may fall. Can you... find a way to... catch th--BLAAAAAAARGH!"

Rhys felt it coming, had moved a good distance away from the group, and let the exhaustion overcome him as he threw up at the side of the tree. He stayed there for a moment, heaving. It had been a long yesterday and already a long today, and finally disease was taking its toll.

"I'm... I'm okay..." he panted, groaning in pain as the heaving died down. "I just... need to lie down. Urrrgh..."

He laid back down on his back, wiping his mouth on his sleeve, gazing sadly at the battle above.
