 Gossamer also turned and raised an eyebrow at Deadpool, though she was grinning a bit more than the other man. "My, aren't we a shy one..." she said, then placed both hands on her hips. "Unfortunately I don't normally go that far with anyone unless they impress me..." she said with a devious grin, then glanced around at the men. "...or make it interesting.".

"Thank you, Deadpool, I thought it was memorable, and deserved repeating. You can thank him for me. Anyways, all contests for Gossamer's affection aside," Joker said, somewhat disturbed at Deadpool's attempts at the woman, despite Deadpool's mangled features that he perpetually kept hidden, "I STILL think we need to get Batsy out from his little hiding place and smash him into little itty bitty bits! WHO'S WITH ME?!" Without waiting for an answer, he pulled out four grenades, easily identified as Joker Toxin, not fatal like their Venom cousin, instead causing an almost-permanent insanity that closely resembled Joker's own, and pulled the pins. "And here... we... go!" At the word 'go', Joker threw the grenades onto four separate nearby rooftops, trying to smoke the Bat out.

Deadpool chuckled appreciatively at the movie reference, and then leaned back against the light pole to watch the show.
Luckily for the Joker, a grenade landed a few meters away from the hidden Dark Knight. Less luckily, the hero had his air filter on hand, so the gas did absolutely nothing to him. That said, he was in a tight spot, and he knew it. Two of the four people beneath him were manageable; Joker he could deal with, and he thought he had Deadpool pegged as well. The other two, though, were unknown variables, especially the man. He had a few ideas he could test if it came to a confrontation with the Gossamer, but Blackstone... And all four of them at once? Forget it. Much as he hated to admit it, he needed backup, and he needed it soon.
Silently, he activated his JLA beacon. If anyone was in range, or if J'onn was in the watchtower, they'd pick up the signal.

Sapphire stopped on a nearby rooftop and looked down at the small black metal bracelets on her wrists. A small red light was blinking on each. "Wonderful... she grumbled as she activated her communicator. "Hey, Nessa? Not that I didn't read your very elaborate, detailed, and well written manual to this thing, because I read non-existant material very well....but why are these things blinking now?"
"Well, that depends on where and what color." the voice replied.
Sapphire glanced down at the matching anklets and blet. Nothing. "Wrists, small red light."
"Both of them? Then that means there's something happening to each side of you. It'll turn a solid color once you're close enough to what's happening."
"Well, in that case...I'll be going thatta way." she replied, jerking her tumb to point behind her.
"This would be a big opportunity to te-"
"What part of 'I have the day off' do you not understand? I am speaking english, right? There was nothing in the job description about...
"This would probably be a big bonus if you get to test more of it's features."
Sapphire paused a moment and glanced around. "Sure, and watch it be Magneto or someone. I'll definately be thinking about money when-"
"It's not. We've got him on tabbs in case he comes within the city. Computers aren't showing him."
"Well that's wonderful! Considering i'm leaning more towards the outskirts of the city..."
"Do whatever you feel like..." the voice sighed. "Just remember the more you test, the more you'll probably get." Another click as she cut the connection.
Sapphire grumbled to herself a moment, then glanced back and forth. Let's see, something going on down that way....though she didn't see anything....and something going on over...oh. There was now a nice cloud of some kind of smoke that appeared around the buildings. Well, she didn't with gas...come to think of it she should really get something for that.
She glanced down at the bracelets a moment, then sighed and crawled over the side of the building, heading for the scene. She wouldn't go near the smoke, not knowing what it was, but she could find a spot where she could see just what was going on.

Joker watched the gas go off with no effect, and immediately said, "Stupid bat-utility belt and bat-gas mask... Deadpool, Gossamer, would you mind helping me with this, this is normally the part of the show where I get my suit-wearing butt handed back to me..."

Deadpool snapped off a sharp salute, which turned into a lazy little wave halfway through. "Yessir, Mr. Joker Sir!" Then he teleported up onto the nearest rooftop and started looking around. "Here, Batsy, Batsy, Batsy!" This was going to be fun, and... What was that? Something bright orange... He knelt down and picked the thing up. Cheesy puff! Quickly popping it into his mouth, he smiled blissfully, only to notice another one a few feet away, and another one beyond that... Someone had left him a TRAIL of CHEESY PUFFS! "Maybe it leads to a magical kingdom where cheesypuff trees grow, and all of the cute little animals are ruled over by a cheesypuff king, and I'll be able to EAT THEM ALL!" With that, he was off, picking up puffs like an absurdly tall toddler on an easter egg hunt.
Batman silently watched the mercenary, then turned his attention back to the larger group. One down, three to go.

Sapphire moved onto a small building not far from where all the comotion was going on. She could see the back of someone in a suit, someone in a purple suit and green hair, and a girl that she recognised all too well. She grimmaced a bit and moved to crawl down the side of the building so that she'd be hidden a bit more. She leaned over the side, and instead of bracing herself with her hands, they slid, causing her to slide over the edge as well. She paniced a bit and tried to grasp the side of the building, but she couldn't get a grip on the wall at all. She slid down the side of the building, landing in a pile of tin cans and garbage bags in the alley...not quietly.

(( OMFG! I almost died laughing at Deadpool's attempt to attack Batman becoming a cheesy puff hunt... )))
Joker watched Gossamer pull out her knife, and said, "I like your style... But I prefer other methods..." With that, he pulled out two revolvers from his jacket. Then, he started saying to the open air, "Oh, Batsy... Remember these? You should... I shot poor Barbara Gordon with one just like them. Such a waste, too... that poor white carpet, simply ruined... So much blood... And then there was the blood from the bullet wound... Heh heh heh... Oh, and although you were out of town at the time, I also killed Sarah Essen Gordon with another one of these, too. A single bullet to the skull ended her. That was the best Christmas present I ever gave... OR recieved... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Seriously, Robin put up more of a fight than her... Heh heh heh heh heh heh..."

Ignoring the Joker took practice; luckily, Batman had gotten plenty of it over the years. His jaw tightened slightly at the jab, but that was all. Far more interesting was the girl who'd just landed in the alley. Another person he didn't know, although her costume looked a bit familiar...

Noticing no disernable difference to the area, as far as Bats were concerned, Joker prattled on, raising the guns in the air slightly. "Oh, you don't like these, Batsy? I'm sorry, I left my crowbar, which I've taken to calling Robinbeater, back home. I'm sure Jason Todd would remember that EXTREMELY well... As I recall, I smashed him in the face with it five or six times, and a couple more times along his body... I'm just curious, Bats, we all know that you found Jason's poor, beaten, dead body in the wreckage of the warehouse I blew up with the little birdy inside of it, but what I'd like to know, is did you ever find his MOTHER'S body in there as well? I figured, after she ratted him out to me, she'd like to be there with him in the end... But I bet you didn't, I bet you were so self-centered at your own loss that you didn't take any time at all to think of anybody who might also have been caught in the explosion... I bet that Jason wouldn't have appreciated that much, not much at all, letting his mother burn in the wreckage of a warehouse that a psychopathic killer made into their graves... But you know something? I think you KNEW something like this was going to happen to him. I think you KNEW. Jason always seemed so much... ANGRIER than the first Robin. The first Robin, the one who started the tradition of your signature handicap, your sidekicks, to his credit, had talent, to his credit, but Jason only seemed to have... ANGER. And just what was he doing out by himself that night, anyways? Did you two have trouble in bed? I bet you regret that now... Come to think of it, you DO realize that it's all your fault, right? It's all on you... If you'd have killed me when you had the chance, I'd have never gotten around to Sarah, or Barbara, or Robin! Do you enjoy our time together? Do you love it every time I make my presence known to the world? Does it excite you every time I break out of Arkham Asylum? Does it send a thrill to your heart every time you look at a dead body and see the rictus smile that you've come to recognise as my calling card? It MUST, because any normal person would have killed me when they got the chance. If anyone else had gone throught this, they'd have snapped! Like I told you when I kidnapped Gordon, all it takes is one bad day to drive the sanest man alive to lunacy. I must ask you again, because you never answered the first time, you had a bad day of your own, didn't you? I believe you DID, otherwise you wouldn't be swinging in your underwear off of rooftops, would you? You had a bad day, and simply went... BATTY! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Batman was pointedly not listening. Vanity, thy name is Joker, he thought dryly. Dealing with this particular lunatic usually meant ignoring him until you could get around to punching him in the face. Listening would only distract Batman from other threats, threats that he was less adept at dealing with. ... Although, he was beginning to think that he'd overestimated the woman. A knife? Really? He glanced back at the girl in the alley, hoping that she was: A. a hero rather than a villain, and B. more competent than she looked.

Gossamer smirked a bit and glanced around as Joker apparently tried to get on the unseen man's nerves. She twirled the the knife in her hand a moment, then glanced towards an alley when she seen a bit of movement. It probably wasn't the man they were looking for. That would've been a bit too easy. Nevertheless, she could play with it a moment just to see what it was. Green flames began to lick the air around the knife in her hands. She dropped it, and it hovered in the air a moment. Suddenly it shot through the air and into the alley that the movement had come from.

Sapphire pulled herself out of the trash and rubbed her shoulder that she had landed on. She looked back up at the rooftop that she had fallen from a moment. What the heck just happened?
She turned her attention back to the small group on the streets just in time to see something coming towards her. It was too close to dodge, so she tried to create a small net in front of her to stop the projectile.
Nothing happened....
Having nothing to stop it, and no time to dodge it, she turned to lessen the damage. The blade sank into the side of her arm and she grunted in pain. All she had to do was look at the knife to know who thru it and what would happen if she left it in her arm.
She quickly pulled it out and tossed it in the trash beside her, then cluched onto her bleeding arm. Her healing abilities weren't kicking in either. What the heck was going on?
