I wanted to be a knight. I taught myself to use a sword (rather well, I might say) and all that jazz. Ran about with sticks and football pads.
The two things that have remained consistent throughout my life have been a fondness for swordsmanship and a desire for adventure. Something fantastical and outlandish, inevitably requiring my ability with a blade. A quest, if you will. With a pirate ship, some mythological dire beasties, and some surprising plot twists. I'm aware that most likely it will never happen, but I keep my options open just in case a space-time anomaly suddenly decides to anomalize in my bedroom and teleport me to medieval Europe or something like that.

Actually, he isn't, unfortunately. He got devilishly close to the knighthood, though.
My dad has done a lot in the past few years to inspire people in Aruba through his work at NASA, and he was nominated not too long ago to receive a knighthood from the Dutch government (Aruba is a Dutch territory, along with Bonaire and Curacao). Lots of people in Aruba have been pushing for him to get it, but it was not to be.

Actually, never mind.
He is a knight.
We just found out today. We were supposed to find out whether he got it at the beginning of April, and since we received no word we assumed that he had not gotten it, but my dad got the call today. Apparently the medals arrived super late because of all the mayhem in Europe with the volcano in Iceland erupting. Anyway, he is of the highest possible order (Order of the Lion, I think) that he could have received being that he's a civilian.
I'm extremely excited. It's been decided that we should all fly down there in the early summer to celebrate.

I have alwayse wanted to be a swords man as long as I get a big two handed blade. (Kind of like Sigfried from SoulCalibur or Guts from Berserk)

Soryiu: As for me, I've always been more partial to hand-and-a-half swords, mainly because I primarily use only one hand, but I find the option of using the second to be a bit freeing. I don't like being too restricted in what I can and can't do.
I've been working on designing my outfit for the Rennaissance Festival this year. I don't work there, but my family goes every year for my birthday, and I always dress for it. I figure I'll be a thief this year, since I've never done that, and I'm going to make my own wooden arms (since theirs are made of softwood); a falchion for the sword and either a dirk or stilletto some curved thing, like a kukri or somesuch for a dagger, mounted for my right and left hands, respectively.
