Jacen gave Kaimi a sheepish grin, before taking another bite. "I suppose he is. As for why he left.." He paused and blushed. "He fell in love." He continued to explain. "Originally, he was sent out to fetch Thali. When he didn't return.. we feared the worst. When I arrived here, and realized he was still around, I assumed he was merely waiting for the right time. Then I saw him--with her."

Jacen frowned. "I don't know, exactly. I only saw her once, and he didn't say her name. She's got curly brown hair, and blue eyes. She was wearing glasses. She looks like an elf, but I don't think she is one. Not a full-blooded one, anyway."
He paused, looking as if he wished his friend had better taste in women. "She's not nearly as pretty as you are, though."

"Ah.. I.." Kaimi blushed and shoved some pizza in her mouth to hide her pleasure at the compliment. People didn't call her pretty very often. She wasn't the typical definition of the word. Though when they saw her dance they called her other things. Under their breath. Like jailbait. "Thanks." She finally managed, giving him a crooked little grin. "You guys don't seem to approve of cross-racial relationships. You sure don't like Thali's husband."

Jacen's smile faded. "It's not because of what he is." He said darkly. "It's how he treats her. She deserves better. Someone who doesn't hurt her constantly. Who trusts and believes in her and..." His fist went down on the table, harder than he'd intended.

Kaimi blinked. "If it hurt you shouldn't do it." She said wisely. "And she seemed happy to me." Giving a shrug, the girl looked at the empty pizza plate on the table with dismay. She hadn't realized how much time had passed, or that they'd eaten everything. "We should find you somewhere to stay." She decided.

Jacen frowned. Sure, the Princess seemed happy, but he knew the truth. He knew--or thought he did, that she was unhappy. "Alright." He agreed, nodding at Kaimi. "Thanks for having pizza with me."

"Anytime." She grinned. Kaimi was not exactly an expert at flirting, in fact she had no experience with it whatsoever. But that didn't mean she wasn't game to try. "Theres a few good hotels in the area. And one really cute bed and breakfast. We'll find somewhere nice."
