Marita didn't reply but started to put together her Bass Clarinet. She heard Luna ask Mr. Harbor when they were going to start and it wouldn't be good to not even have your instrument out! "I think I'm gonna count how many times Nathaniel and Luna tell me to stop being nervous" She thought with a sigh. She was done putting her instrument together and waited.

"If we are starting soon I need to get the sousaphone out. Be right back" Nate trailed away to the cage room to get out the silver beauty as he called it. "I missed you old friend, Time to shine again." With this he kissed the bell and fixed it to the body. Ready or not, give it all you got! Nate thought to himself, his personal motto.
Finally, Maybe its time to start this thing. Kall thought preparing his drills for the final time. "Guys, if you don't have your instruments out yet it might be wise, we may be begining soon."

  Mr. Harbor looked at his watch and told Luna, "Probably in a few minutes." Mr. Harbor walked outside of his office and yelled to everyone, "In about 5 minutes I want all of you ready to start practice" Mr harbor walked back into his office to pick up the score for Adagio. After picking it up, he walked out to find the trumpets. Only one trumpet here? He thought as he walked over to Jake. "Jake, would you like to play the solo for this piece?" Mr. Harbor asked. "It must have been hard," Zach said. He paused a moment, trying to think of something to say. He had never moved but he was friends with several people that had. He knew what they had to go through and how hard it was to try to fit in. "What do you think of our band so far," He asked nicely.

"Five minutes....I guess I can use that time to warm up...... She thought as she played a scale holding each note for four counts. After that she felt her instrument was a little out of tune and adjusted what she was doing to make it in tune. Still waiting, she played a few parts of the music to get a feel.
Gatz was fast asleep until his alarm went off. "Ugg....five more minutes....." He said moaning and pressing the snooze button. Five more minutes pasted and the alarm went off. He pressed the snooze button again. Then it went off again. This time he pressed the off button and didn't get up. Gatz then woke up fully energized but the problem was that class already started. He stared at the clock already and said "Damn." but with a shrug. "I'm already late so I'll take my time...." he muttered. He brushed his teeth, ate breakfast, got dressed, and all that other good stuff. He picked up his backpack and looked at his Tenor Sax. "Oh that's right.......Band starts today...." He said remembering. He grabbed his Tenor Sax case and threw it in the back of his car. Well he didn't really throw it but he placed it there semi-carelessly. He drove to the school and looked for a parking space. "Damn it......maybe I should have cared about coming on time....." He mumbled as he searched for a parking space. Luckily he managed to have found one and parked. He grabbed his things and headed for the band room. He walked in and everything looked set up. People were warming up and making friends. "Sorry I was late guys..." He announced as he grabbed a chair and sat down taking out his instrument.

Five minutes? Damn, as I previously said: Ready or not, give it all you got. Nate thought to himself. Nate hoisted the sousaphone onto his shoulder and walked into the main band hall, careful not to hit the bell on anything. Standing near Martia he said, "Here it is. Ready?"
Kall looked around at all of the band members, getting ready for the official start of band camp. Turning to look at the boy who had just now walked in, Kall clicked his tongue and said dissaprovingly, "Tardiness is not something to take lightly. Camp will start in five minutes. Get out your instrument and get ready. I'm Kall and I am one of your Drum Majors this year, Pleasure to meet you."

Marita tilted her head side to side thinking. Then she nodded and smiled. "Yes." She replied.
Gatz looked up at Kall. "Pssh...Kall I'm surprised you don't recognize me. Is it the beard?" He asked showing it. He then moved his hand up and down "Ehhh it's not like I'm always late." He said shrugging with a small smirk. He picked up his Sax and a started sucking on his reed. While putting on the neck he asked though with a slight muffle "What have you've been up to lately?"

Nate wanted to say something more but couldn't think of the words to say, so instead he sat back down and looked over the music in his hands. Nice piece, interesting. Can't wait to start. Nate thought these to himself as he pondered how the first day would go.
Smiling, Kall looked at Gatz. "I'm sorry do I know you?" From this Kall had to laugh. "Of course Gatz, I know its you. When did you grow the beard? Its..............different. Of course i knew who you were, I just thought it would have been funny" And it was.

"Of course, Kall." She said as she walked toward Kall with some guy with a shiny tenor sax. Whoa.She thought staring at the new guy's face. "Gatz.....?? is that you?" She asked, a bit shocked with his beard. "you grew a beard?? you look totally different." She blinked twice to get out of this shock.Ignoring the beard she told "Hey, Guess what?? I am Drum Major this year. And i am so sure if i get distracted from my conducting, it will be because of you and your new face, Gatz" She laughed.

Marita looked at Nathaniel and knew he wanted to say something but didn't. "Hmm....I wonder what he wanted to say..." She thought. "Oh well...." She thought wanting to shrug but didn't.
Gatz finished putting his instrument together and set it down. He stood up and laughed. "Group hug!" He grunted happily hugging both Kall and Luna. "Well I'm a Senior and Eighteen now! Of course I had to grow a beard!" He explained cheerfully. "I totally look manlier with it too" He said cockily with a smirk. "That's awesome by the way Luna! I know you'll do great as Drum Major!" He complimented. He then let out a giggle. "Heh. It won't distract you" He said confidently. Then he sighed. "Because you know I'll have to shave it off when the competitions start. Because you know.........if the judge sees it he might mark us down and we can't have that can we?"

Adalyn had been zoned out, as was often, while everyone around her had been talking. The call of five minutes had her calling a quick "See you later!" to Marita as she jogged to the back corner of the instrument room where the bass drums were dtacked in a neat column by size next to four marching snare cases, two tenor cases, and a pile of harnesses. Scowling, Addie grabbed a step stool out of the corner to try and get her bass drum down off the top of the stack.

Marita waved bye to Adalyn and then went back to waiting for band to start.
Gatz patted Luna on the back. "Nah it's alright. I'll probably be able to grow it back after marching season" He replied with a smile.

Nate wished he knew what to say but he couldn't think of anything. Oh well. I'm sure something will come to me. Looking at his music, Nate rembembered that his mouthpiece had disappeared last year. Walking over to the office Nate started at the door then found the courage to ask, "Sir, Do you have any extra tuba mouthpieces around? Mine disappeared at thet end of Concert band last year."
"No Gatz, it doesn't make you seem manlier, you can still see your face." Kall laughed heartily at himself then added, "Guys, you're crushing me." Good friends, can't get by without them. Kall thought looking at the two.

Gatz chuckled and stopped hugging Kall. "Heh Sorry." Then he smirked. "You're just jealous because you can't grow a beard" He said in response to Kall's comment. He then turned to Luna. He gave her a thumbs up. "Me too" He said confidently.
