I usually just have one that I make super powerful, and just neglect everyone else, except for HMs.

I like to have multiple types.
Like, having two water pokemon?
It can happen, but I'd prefer to have six different types.

I try. I also try to level up all my pokemon equally, but my starter's usually ten levels or so ahead. XP

I usually have one insanely powerful firetype.
Just before the F4 it gets trown into tah box.
Then I grind the rest.

XD Of course, when I played Red version, once I got to Indigo Plateau, I only used my Charizard and kept leveling him up until he could beat everybody by himself. o_o

There are like 600 now. I pity the kids.

I'd just equip the item that makes the EXP get split on one of my lower level pokemon each time (talking about Gold version here)
