Yes!!! Pikachu! (sorry, random redeath reference)
Older girls do understand guys better! (I'm not implying you're old, just older than the girls close to my age, if that makes sense) Younger girls always expect us to know what they're thinking when we don't. And then get mad when we mess up. It's good to know there are girls that know about our simple-mindedness, and don't expecto absolute perfection from us!

I used to try to do that "subtle hint thing" to convey to guys what I wanted. I got annoyed when they didn't figure it out. Then a very wise guy told me that if I wanted something, JUST TELL HIM! NO HINTS! I was shocked. Would that work? I mean, wouldn't the guy be offended if I said, "Sweetie, I would really like to get flowers for my birthday."? But I took his advice, and you know what? It works! I think most guys really do want to please the girl they care about, and if we, as women, will tell them how to do that, everyone is much happier!
Besides, as long as a guy doesn't expect perfection from me, I won't expect it from him. I figure that's a pretty fair trade!

EXACTLY!!! That's perfectly fair!
And that's also a problem with the younger chicks these days. They generally don't know of that "rule", so they play the games, hoping that that'll work out fine.
If people stopped playing those childish games all the time, things would go a lot more smoothly!
"EXPECTO?" Oh god, I'm getting too drunk right now! maybe.

The games just make everyone frustrated and cause relationships to fall apart. I consider myself very lucky that I didn't date in high school or college. I just sat back and watched all the relationships either fall apart or blow up. I learned from their mistakes, so I didn't have to try the silly little games myself and destroy my own relationships!
You are totally smashed now, aren't you? lol

Yeah, I am. (just saw muppet junk. way to go, dave chappel)
I made that mistake my senior year, and tried to play the game with my ex. I didn't know better. I was played for a fool. We're still friends, but we'll never get as close as before.
And she didn't like my brand of humor (the whole anime and manga thing) I only know one chick back home who liked that kind of stuff, and she's my best friend's sister. I don't think of her in that light, and vice versa.
And in a city as big as San Diego, it's very hard finding someone who has the same interests as me, without the whole stupid drama thing.
OMG, dave chappel AND snoop dogg?! God, help me right now!

You'd think being in a big city like that would make it EASIER to find someone with similar interests, not harder. I didn't get the anime and manga thing either when I was a teenager. Then I met a few people who loved it and gave it a try. I was instantly hooked! My family thinks it's odd, but they don't worry about it too much, and I've found many amazing people as a result of this shared love.

You would think, huh? But it turns out they all just think the same! I don't think anyone gets the whole anime and manga scene until you show them something they'll totally like for the rest of their lives. I'm lucky my parents don't think it's odd, because my dad loves anime just as much as me! And I find it amazing how many people you can meet out of a love for something other people would think is weird. Just goes to show how popular it's becoming.

I can't remember if you ever told where your hometown is. Is it a small town?
The first manga I ever read was Sandland. I don't think I would ever read it again, but it made me curious enough to try a few more. One Piece. Naruto. Love Hina. By this point I was completely hooked! I read a lot of other stuff, too. I have to for work, anyway, but I would read a variety regardless, since I love to read.
I have met people in restaurants, shopping malls, courthouses, parks...pretty much everywhere I go I find people who love anime and manga, but they won't admit to it unless I bring it up first!

Yeah, I'd be one of those guys. Sandland is a good one, straight from the mind of Toriyama. Shame he won't do a long running series ever again.
My first manga that I've ever read was Negima! My best friend was reading it one day, and I got curious. I read the 3 volumes he had, and wanted to see what else was out there. And from there, my ever-growing collection of manga grows. And I owe it all to my best friend, who still lives back home.
My home town is called Porterville. It's about an hour north of Bakersfield, and there's absolutely nothing to do there. Incidentally, it's the perfect city to do whatever you want.

I know where that is. I've never lived in a smaller town, only large, spreading metropolises. I would love to give a smaller town a try someday, but right now I'm afraid to leave my job...
The trick to finding anime and manga fans is learning to read the signs. I'm good at observing people I talk to, and I can usually figure it out pretty quickly. But there are always some that surprise me! No telltale signs at all!

My home town is fine, except THERE'S NO BOOK STORE!!!!!!! gonk gonk gonk gonk gonk gonk gonk gonk gonk
Whenever I went out of town, I made sure to stop by one of them, and update my collection.
I suck at reading signs. It's not until they see me watching or reading something, or if I straight out ask. Though one guy did surprise me. He was this guy who was into sports completely, was buff as f***, worked out constantly, had a wife and kids, and looked like he would rip your head off. He is also black, which added to the whole image. (he would scare the s*** outta me) One day me and a buddy were watching bleach, and he sees us. Instead of talking down to us, he was asking where we were and everything! eek That was real surprising!

I used to practically LIVE at the bookstores in my hometown! But then I started working at the library. I enjoy browsing a lot less now, although I still do buy a good number of books. I tend to buy them online now, especially since they started putting those blasted security stickers (the permanent kind) inside all my favorite graphic novel series! I'm obsessive about things like that...
Okay. That guy might have surprised me, too! lol And don't feel bad about not reading the signs very well. You're a guy, remember? Reading people tends to be a girl's strength. I do fine at that, but I can walk right by a good friend in the mall and never even notice.

I like browsing at a bookstore better, mainly because once I'm there, I might see something that'd catch my attention, and then I'd have a new series to read.
I know that feeling. Once, when I came home after being in South Carolina for a year, I met up with some old friends at the wal-mart. We talked for a while, then left. The whole time I wondered, "what were their names again?" gonk
I still forget from time to time.

The teen librarian where I work gives me all the new series before they are processed for the public, so I get to see quite a few new series on a regular basis. I don't bother with things like Naruto volume 386, but I usually read (or at least look over) any series that is within the first ten volumes of publication. I have found quite a few fun series this way.
Going to bookstores usually results in me finding new things I want, too, and that may be part of the reason I don't go. I can't afford to keep starting more series. I say that, but I have every intention of going to Little Tokyo today and going to that great Japanese bookstore! I'll bet dollars to donuts (No, I don't know what that means, but it's an expression I've heard all my life!) that I come home with a graphic novel from a new series!

You get to see new series BEFORE they're available to the public?!
Awesome!
Are the books at the Japanese bookstore all in Japanese?
