“Is there anything in life worth gaining, if not working for it?” It was more of a question to himself, though he could not begin to understand why he had said such. She was right though; Shirou had made things increasingly difficult for himself and the knight king in the previous war… he did not regret his decisions as they defined who he was, but there were regrettable moments with which, he had trouble admitting. To think on it though was pointless. The past was the past and they had together made it through to the end. He should have been happy for that fact; happy at the accomplishment, yet here they were again fighting their way towards the Holy Grail. There was much on that subject, he wanted to talk about; it was a reason he was happy to see Rin, for if anyone might have an idea of what was going on, then it would surely be her, wouldn’t it?

Her question brought a bit of surprise towards Shirou as he blinked and sighed. His servant was difficult for him to deal with as she did not seem to understand completely just how difficult it was for Shirou. Of course, he knew it was no easier for her, but he couldn’t have predicted the events that would lead up to this moment. He had been sorry, but her words upon her desire to obtain the Holy Grail had upset the red head. There was no need for her to have said anything like that; Shirou knew well enough what she desired… for the most part anyways, but that did not stop him from having spoken the words he had only grown to understand a few short years ago. “I’m not completely sure. She’s…angry and unsure.”

"I do not believe there to be such a thing, but there are easier ways to gains one objective." And she didn't mean like others would by saying he could cheat his way through life. No, there were always less painful routes that still carried the same amount of honor and pride as the more difficult. Yet Shirou seemed to just ignore these paths, and that as one reason that the blond was always worrying over him. Then there was Rin, his complete opposite in that regard and yet she also caused her to worry like there was no tomorrow.

Before Saber could respond to the next set of words, Rin thought it best to answer instead. "So your servant is jealous?" Considering her knight had asked about the servant Emiya carried, that could only mean she'd met the figure. She wished more information would be spilled, but she could live with what was given. Of course the poor female servant given to Shirou of this war would feel the way she did after coming face to face with Saber. Heck, if the Tohsaka herself had been in the same position she doubted she'd be any different. I mean, how would you feel watching your master go all gaga over another person's servant and pay no attention to you?

Shirou couldn’t help but smile at the lost cause being presented before him. In this matter of conversation, Saber and himself always seemed to differ on their views. She was right of course in her own way, but Shirou couldn’t change the way he was so easily. The way his father had raised him to be. Still in some ways wanting to be the ‘hero of justice’; yet he had changed over these three years. It was difficult to have to think this way, but these two would soon come to find out just how much he changed… Rin in particular. The thought made him sigh lightly as he turned his attention to Rin. How would she react when the time came; he was not so different that he would not stop fighting along his Servant, no matter who that Servant be at the time.

He blinked a bit surprised at her words though. ‘Jealous’? To be honest, Shirou had not thought that was what it was at all. It was a bit annoying for her to assume such, considering nothing happening between the blonde knight and himself. Always striking a nerve, Rin was. His eye twitched slightly as he stared at her, partially out of annoyance now. “Hardly. She just thinks I’m being careless considering Saber is now my enemy.” Had there been anything to be jealous over? Shirou had not said much to Saber before she left in a rush; certainly him being here might cause a bit of stress, but there was no harm to come from Rin or Saber, was there?

Saber had decided to attempt and space out once more only to find herself soon interested in the conversation as the two began to talk. One ear was open to both side of the conversation, taking in both sides of their beliefs. "Rin, why would she be jealous of me?" Shirou's response was easy to understand to her. She would have been angry at the teen himself if he suddenly let his guard down in face of an enemy, but what Rin said confused her. What was there to be jealous of?

The woman only sighed, her arms crossing over her chest as she leaned against the alley wall once more. Her eyes went from staring right back at Shirou to looking at her knight instead. Did she really not get why? Well there was plenty of reasons to give, but she would only list ones involving the grail, wouldn't want to confuse the blond with emotional talk eh? "His servant would become jealous of the fact that his attention and then priorities were all placed onto you instead of herself, the one he is contracted to. She would also be mad over the fact that you know more about Shirou then herself, a bond made from the last war that she won't be able to understand." That was the simplest way that she would list off what was running through her mind on the situation. And from seeing how annoyed her little Emiya had gotten from her first remark she wasn't that far from the mark.

Shirou’s head turned slightly as Saber seemed to fall prey to the confusion that usually struck her when situations like this came to the surface. He couldn’t help but smile sympathetically before Rin seemed to grow slightly annoyed at Saber’s inability to understand. It wasn’t as if it was her fault, was it? It shouldn’t have come as a surprise that Saber did not understand, with all things considered. She was a knight… a king as well. Her duty had always been to her kingdom or so Shirou believed. He couldn’t really have seen Saber as the type to place such priorities as these above her people. His hand rose to run through his hair as he stared at Rin; her words ringing through his ears as he took them into consideration himself.

He couldn’t have imagined it being jealousy. It had only been a few days since he had summoned her; it was natural that she would not know as much as Saber did; was it not natural that Shirou would have been surprised that Saber appeared and also protected him as well. “Tohsaka, it’s not like that at all. It’s not as if you were there… Saber’s arrival was just...” He found himself fidgeting with trying to respond to her. Would it be alright for him to explain what happened? The fact that Saber had protected him? He wouldn’t accept that jealousy was the cause of this; simply concern of Shirou’s careless nature. Was there really a difference though or was that simply his mind trying to play a joke upon him.

"There's no way I'll win against you in an argument. I guess that much hasn't changed." He smiled faintly, letting his hands rest behind his head as he stared up towards the sky. She was always proving him wrong; it was definitely annoying in the past, but he couldn't find himself too upset at the moment. He was still... happy that they were here. No matter what the circumstances.

{Ryn! : D}

"But a lot of other things have if you hadn't noticed." And she wasn't just talking about them both aging nor directing it only on herself. All three were different then before, well, Saber not so much. "While I have your attention..." Something from earlier in the day, before Emiya even showed up, decided to pop back into the magi's mind. It was a discussion of sorts that had been going on between magi and knight. "What did you mean earlier by you not getting the proper amount of sleep?"

Saber nodded along in response after now realizing the situation. Her face shifted from emotionless, to surprised, and then something of avoidance then when hearing her master's next question. "Ahh... well..." She'd hoped the other would have forgotten about that when they went to get tea and explore the town. But now that it was remembered an answer was wanted. "It was hard for me to sleep through all your movement last night."

Her eye brow twitched a bit when hearing such things, forgetting for a second that Shirou was with them. "My movement?" She huffed out the words once more as her brain couldn't seem to take them in. "I'm sorry that me trying to escape that iron grip of yours caused you lack of sleep." If the Saber didn't notice, that was sarcasm.

"Iron grip..?" The blond blinked a few times, her mouth open a bit before opening wider and then closing shut. "I-i don't know what you are talking about!" She suddenly stuttered out while averting her gaze elsewhere when she felt Rin's "aura" rising.

{ Ren :3 }

A lot of other things had? For a moment, Shirou wondered what Rin was referring to before having his attention taken away from those thoughts and thrown into another set of thoughts as Rin began speaking of something else entirely. At first he had not understood… the proper amount of sleep? Apparently they had been speaking of something else before Shirou’s arrival… had Rin really forgotten he was there already, or did she just not care that he hear… whatever it was they were talking about. He sighed, keeping his eyes towards the sky as the two continued their conversation. It felt awkward being here… was this appropriate for him to be listening to in the first place? The hesitation in Saber’s voice caused him to look down out of concern; was something wrong with her? His eyes blinking casually before his ears took in the rest of what it was she was attempting to say before.

At first he didn’t properly register what had been said; maybe it was his desire not to or perhaps he simply did not understand. Whatever the case, his hands fell limply by his side as he stared at the blonde servant. He couldn’t understand why it bothered him; girls… it wasn’t uncommon for them to sleep in the same room anyways. It was far different from when Saber had wished to sleep in the same room as he… yet he felt as though he was misunderstanding or perhaps thinking too much into this. It had taken him a while to register that Rin had begun speaking, before his eyes turned upon her; her reaction seemed surprised, yet he wasn’t paying that much attention towards it. He shook his head lightly as he turned his eyes towards the open street at the end of the alleyway. He wished he didn’t have to be here for this. He didn’t want to hear things like this… he didn’t know why it bothered him so much, but Rin continuing did not help him feel any better… no far worse. Had they always been this close? He didn’t want to imagine what things were like in the past; were they this close then?

His fists clenched tightly though he would not have noticed; his mind was completely elsewhere. How close where they… was Shirou even apart of… he definitely did not wish to think of something like that. He frowned and glanced towards them; he didn’t feel so much like being there anymore. It was wrong after all for him to have followed Saber. He should have known that things would not be the same between them. That much was a given considering they could never be as close as they had been; they were enemies now. Maybe it was best that Shirou accept that now instead of thinking they could work through this war like they had the last time. He wanted to say that he was leaving, but he couldn’t find the ability to speak. The inability to move as he simply stared at Saber; was his pain showing? He wasn’t supposed to be this weak. He wasn’t weak and childish anymore. He had changed, but nothing had changed when it came to the one he loved. How pitiful.

{I missed joo.~ D; }

Her finger began to tap lightly against her arms as a means to control the volume her voice wished to come out at after hearing the next set of words. "Oh. So you don't remember snuggling up to me~?" Rin could only calm herself down when she teased others so this was the best way to do it. When seeing Saber flinch at the word snuggle, it brought a smirk to her face. Though that victory vanished from her mind when eyes caught onto Shirou once more.

"Is something wrong Emiya?" He wasn't looking so good anymore. Was their little conversation affecting him in some way? Oh. Her smirk was back with a vengeance now. "Is there something on your mind you want to share~? I bet Saber's dieing to know.~" Sure enough the blond's own attention had went to the male as well when seeing him in the odd state. One minute he'd been happy and the next, well neither knew what it was now but they were concerned.

He sighed and smiled. He didn’t have much luck with these things did he? He hoped the pain had faded from his face as he smiled. He definitely didn’t want this to show. To let Rin know she had gotten to him more than anything with this sudden restart of their conversation. There was no way she could have not considered how he’d react before bringing this up again. Jeez, she played dirty. What was the point of all this anyways? Besides the fact that she got… the sick form of humor from torturing him when it came to the blonde knight… never mind. He doubted there could be any more to it than that. She would simply do it for that reason, unless they had actually become that close. If that was the case, then… he had once been a part of Saber’s heart, right? She had once loved him; it was enough, he supposed considering he would not have expected it. She continued with her conversation and his hands clenched all the more tighter as he grew annoyed with the Magus. She was really pushing her luck with this, wasn’t she? He twitched slightly under the annoyance. He didn’t dare look at Saber; he didn’t wish to know how she was reacting… or maybe he did. Still, he was more occupied with thinking up ways on how to shut up Rin.

When she had addressed him, he simply frowned and looked away from her. She was just fueling to the flames; he was right. She was doing this on purpose just to push him over the edge. When Saber’s gaze fell upon him however, he seemed to have lost all retort he had wanted to throw at the Magus. Instead, he couldn’t find himself hiding the blush that came over his face as he stared at her, and then back towards Rin. Jeez, maybe Issei had been right about Rin all this time. She truly was the devil. Their entire conversation flashing through his mind only caused his face to turn redder as he looked down. “N-no. I’m just confused I guess… what exactly are you guys… talking about?” He stared back towards Saber, not being able to focus on Rin. He wouldn’t want to see whatever mischievous smile, she had upon her face.

The concern written on Saber's face only increased more as she watched Shirou struggling onward. Was there something wrong about their current conversation that was affecting him? But how could that be possible since it didn't deal with him? Or maybe that was it, he was feeling left out and alone from the two like three years before. "What we are... talking about?" The knight's eyes narrowed a bit in her own thoughts as she tried to find how best to explain it. From the looks it seemed Shirou was getting the wrong idea, but Rin was better at these things. So as the boy turned to her, she turned to the magus.

The devilish smirk on her face stayed plastered there for the time being, only growing in size as she watched her two favorite idiots go at it like old times. When his question and gaze went to Saber, and in turn hers to Rin, she could only sigh as this was expected. "Isn't it obvious?" Well at least to the two females it was. They were talking about the troubles of sharing a bed, but maybe Shirou didn't quite get that yet; stupid boys. "Unlike you I didn't have to deny Saber's want to stay in the same room as me for protection, but I only have one bed in my room so we share it." There was really nothing more to it then that. It seemed on some nights the blond would shift around and get into some sort of 'cuddling' phase. The magus was definitely not a cuddlier, so she tried to avoid it which in turn cause movement and led to this whole conversation. "What did you think we were talking about?" Those cold blue eyes locked onto the Emiya lad within seconds. One hand freed itself to lightly place itself in the hair near the back of her neck, the other now resting lightly on her hip. It seemed to be a stance of habit that she took when talking with him.

Shirou had no choice but to turn his attention towards Rin as she suddenly began her… harassment, again. Why him? Seriously, he was beginning to wonder why he had ever gotten himself involved in this dumb war. Was all this torture from Rin actually worth it? “To save someone… means to not save someone else. Am I not supposed to be saved this time, dad?” He was speaking to himself, though he almost laughed at how odd that seemed; he couldn’t believe he was actually thinking about such at a time like this. Though it did make sense. Considering Saber was… quite literally the greatest Servant in this war, maybe he would wind up dying to save… everyone else. As long as she won, he felt that Rin’s wish would be the same as the last couple of times. His head emptied once again as he looked towards the Magus. The blush upon his face, not lessening at any point during Rin’s explanation. When she asked him what it was he had thought they were talking about, Shirou simply smiled and shook his head. His hands waving nonchalantly as he turned his gaze away from the both of them. “No-nothing… that’s what I thought. It’s just… I was confused at first.” Would that work well enough? Rin… you know he was actually thinking, he wouldn’t mind fighting her in the war perhaps. What kind of messed up reunion was this?

She knew that couldn't possibly be the whole answer, but she would be nice for once and let it slide. Eww. Even thinking to long on those lines sent a small shiver to her spin. "Glad to know its now cleared up." Rin spoke with another sigh, something she seemed to be doing a lot of, before relaxing once more. She'd just finish her argument on bedily habits with Saber later considering it seemed to bring Shirou and the brink of despair. Of course the magus knew full well why, while her knight was probably as clueless as ever.

"Rin, what are we to do now?" The blond thought it okay to speak up now that the talks had died down again. As much fun as it was to chat it up in an alleyway with her former master, she really wished to know what was to happen next. Were they going to stay looking in the town a bit longer for head home? And would Shirou be coming with them?

Shirou nodded finally happy that, that little problem had cleared up. He was happy to know Rin wouldn’t be pushing the matter any further. She knew he was lying… that seemed to be something he couldn’t get past her even now. She was being kind though, something of a surprise to the red head, before he looked away from her. Saber’s question posing an interesting thought in his head. Was she including him in the ‘we’? Did he really belong around anymore? Despite the fact that Rin had practically taken over his house those three years ago, he kind of doubted she would take that into consideration when deciding what their plans were now. Speaking of plans, he wondered what he was to do about his own Servant. He was still upset and he knew she would be as well; maybe he had been wrong, but it was no different from what she had said.

Selfishness was not something Shirou followed in this war; far from it perhaps. Everyone around him, he always placed before himself; those he wished to protect and those who were innocent. She was different however. “Wait. I was wondering something Rin. If anyone should know, I figured it would be you.” He had become somewhat serious as he stared at her; it had been another reason for his following Saber. He wished to understand what was going on. He wanted to know why the war had appeared so early and how they had both become Masters again…

That was... a good question. What were her and Saber going to do now? Better yet was she to include Shirou in the equation as she thoughts this up in her head. This had to be a moment when she wished Saber's statements and questions wouldn't be so vague and hide so many different meanings. Yet it was something that wouldn't change about the blond, and nothing to waste a command seal on, so she would just have to continue to play the guessing game in this war. Such a pain in her a**.

When her mouth opened to give one response it quickly shut as the boy seemed to have a want of his own involving her. Heh. Dirty little thoughts that made her have.~ Rin quickly shook her head then, she shouldn't be thinking that way let alone about Shirou. And yet as she said that she remembered the scene between them that had only happened a few minute ago. Gah, she wasn't going to get flustered. "What is it you want to know?" Got a question to ask? Just run along to Tohsaka Rin my little masters and servants. All shall be told at a measly price of one blond per question.~

His hand ran through his hair as he thought of the way to phrase this. He wondered whether or not he was the only one who was aware of all that was going on. If that was the case, then that would make him seem more incompetent as a Master. He’d already gotten that enough back in the last war; it wasn’t as if it was his fault to begin with. He’d only been a Master again for a few days, yet he let those thoughts be placed aside as he focused on his original question. “What’s happened to make things like this? Why is the war happening again?”
