Ashierra watched Alek with a placid face but grasping eyes. What was he saying? She looked at the flower cradled in her hands. Maybe she was making too much of this... "No. No dieing here..." Wait a minute! She was Ashierra! Not some delicate blossom! Narrowing her eyes she crushed the flower in her palm, dropping it to the ground as she followed after Alek's retreating form, her tail and ears twitching in irritation. Delicate flower!? Indeed! The very idea of calling her a delicate anything! "So, you been in the mountains before?" She called, trying to cool herself.

Sighing Alek looked back at Ashierra. "Yes, and no." He replied with a grin. "No to these and yes to others." He pulled back some vines and stepped through before quickly letting go.
"What about you?" Alek finally asked before turning and waiting on Ashierra to get through.

Ashierra nodded. "Yeah, a few." Smirking, she used her earth power to hook the vines and pull them aside for her. She padded through and looked up at the growing range. "Where were your mountains?" She asked, tilting her head.

"In the ocean and floating on white clouds." Replied Alek casually before smirking, "Eh, just scattered about the isles really." His tail flicked behind him, sparking in the sunlight. "What about your mountains?" He asked holding back a small laugh as he walked on towards the thinning trees and looming mountains.

Ashierra rolled her eyes. On clouds... pft. "My mountains..." She looked up at the sun. "They were hard and dry. Sandy, hot, with dead and dry weeds." She looked back at the mountains looming before them. "I'm not quite sure where. It's been a while since I left them." The land started sloping upward, their treck up the mountain side beginning.

"Sounds like desert mountains to me." Replied Alek with an amused smile at Ashierra. "It might've even been a place that I've passed through before." After all he had been to quite a few places, especially as a teen. Just thinking of his past made the cattaur sigh softly to himself. A smile quickly went back into place though as he started to talk again.
"So...umm what about your favorite type of mountains? Do you like the colder ones, the grassy ones, or what?" Alek casually asked as he started walking upwards on a well trod mountain path.

Ashierra cocked her head. "I'd prefer grassy ones, but hot mountains are nice. Colder ones... not so much. No heat and usually not much food. What about you?" She looked up and shook her head, seeing the tips of the mountains frosted white. "Will we have to go all the way up to get across these?" She asked with an annoyed sigh.

"I like warm ones where you can lay out on the grass and relax. Though I do enjoy hectic weather that can come with being so high up as long as it's not anything cold like snow or icy rain." Alek shivered just thinking about the cold weather, before following Ashierra's gaze.
"No worries, because there should be a pass somewhere near the middle not too far up at all." He smirked teasingly though, "But even if we do have to go all the way up, I can keep you warm."

Ashierra nodded in agreement. Icy rain would be nasty. She was happy to hear about the pass. Ashierra snorted, head haughtily up. "I can keep myself warm, thank you." She sniffed, increasing her pace to pass Alek and walk ahead of him dominantly.

"Aww, don't' tell me she took it to heart!" Gasped Alek as he headed after Ashierra. A warm purr came from his throat though as he followed before he suddenly paused. The smell of prey was strong and he vaguely could remember it. "Ashy, I'll be right back. Dinner time."
With that Alek turned and started to silently sneak off back towards the forest that crept along the mountainside. It wasn't rabbit...was that sheep maybe that he smelled up ahead?

A small shiver fought up her back as she listened to Alek purr. Such a nice sound... She turned back when he said it was time for food. "Huh?" Then she too noticed the scent and grinned, stalking after Alek. She wanted to see what kind of hunter he was, especially if she might be depending on him sometime.

Up ahead Alek finally spotted the lone mountain goat that was feeding on the shrubbery. His mouth curved up into a pleased smirk as he crouched down and started walking in and out of the trees. Waiting Alek watched as the goat migrated closer and closer until he finally pounced.
Powerful muscles rippled as the fire cattaur jumped towards the goat and surrounded it by flame. A small chase was then ended as he forced his way to the goat despite the wicked horns that slightly cut into his arm when the goat surprised him by charging. Finally suffocating the goat, Alek finally swung it down where it's head cracked against the ground. Soon his hunting knife slashed open the throat spilling its lifeblood.
A satisfied purr as he stood up and looked behind him, hoping that his stalker hadn't seen the actual gore. "Goat is ready. Do you mind cleaning up?" He asked turning back around so he could focus on starting a fire.

Ashierra watched in amazement. She shouldn't have been so suprised since he talked of being a traveller. Maybe she had unconciously wanted him to really be weaker... But her breath had caught seeing his muscles taught and the speed he had, gasping softly when she saw his blood from his arm. She blinked quickly to get out of her awed daze. "Humph! Men! Always expecting the women to clean up after they make a mess." Her face and voice pouted irritation, but something in her body movement gave the air that she wasn't being completely serious. That she even might have been completely simply teasing. Using her magic she pulled up the blood soaked earth. Holding it over a wide, bowl-like leaf she seperated the earth and let the blood drop into the leaf. Setting that aside she grabbed the goat by the horns and dragged it to a bare dirt spot to skin it. "... Nice job." She said softly, peeking up at Alek then back to the kill.

"Just like you females always nag." Replied Alek jokingly before piling up some twigs and other burning supplies he had found laying about. Tail twitching he started focusing on his fire, coaxing the flames to rise from the slivers of sparks that had dropped onto the wood from his fingers. Soon after some popping a decent flare of a fire pulled free, a cooking fire was ready.
It was then that he finally looked back over to Ashierra, "Thanks." A small purr as he rested beside of the fire and finally started to look at his arm where some blood was still plenty fresh. 'Aww.' He thought before quickly licking at the wound with a smile smirk. His hand clasped around and carefully he applied pressure while he watched Ashierra work.

Ashierra's pleased smile grew as she skinned the goat. "Excellent." She said softly. Because spring was nearing, the goat's winter fat supply was minimal. A little fat went a long way in her mind. Scraping the excess into another bowl leaf, she carefully carried the ready carcass and blood bowl to Alek. "Lets see how well you cook something like this." She said with a teasing smirk, though hoping he could make this as well as the fish he'd done before. Then she went back and cleaned off the skin. It'd be good for the higher mountain areas.
