World Setting: A world quite similar to our own, although less industrialized. Magic exists, and elemental spirits and fae creatures live among the humans, getting along for the most part. The stars also are humanoid and can visit the Earth, although they must expend a great deal of magical energy to return to their celestial home. The primary deities are "Gaia," or Mother Earth and the Sun God Elarë.
Because they live so long, the elder stars realized that their younger kin did not appreciate life as they should, which was when the coming of age ceremony was introduced. A star cannot shine or use his or her full power without a specially crafted amulet attuned to his or her spiritual energy. These amulets are granted to young celestials when they graduate from childhood at their coming of age ceremony. Before a star can receive his or her amulet, they must spend time among the humans, whose much shorter lifespans give the young stars a different perspective. Their progress is monitored by a council of elder stars, who determine when each star has learned enough to graduate and not abuse their amulet.
Aya is a young celestial, spending time on the Earth in preparation for her coming of age ceremony. Although her powers are very limited due to her young age, Aya can still manipulate light, and to some extent, gravity. She can also use the general skills and spells that even the humans have mastered, small magics that make everyday life easier.
She learns new things everyday, but is often quite naive to the way people think. Although she is usually cheerful, she is often discouraged by how little she truly knows of the world. She joined Savage Arts out of curiosity but swiftly formed friendships with the people there. Maeth even made her one of his crew members, much to her surprise. She has no actual duties, but she enjoys her title and uses her power to correct people's grammar where she sees fit.
When not hanging around the guild hall bothering her new guild mates, Aya likes to roam and explore. Her inquisitive nature occasionally gets her in trouble, but so far she has managed to avoid major problems. She still has quite a while before her coming of age ceremony and she intends to learn as much as possible in that time.
