The coolest thing ever was the kosher super market up near Albany. Yes. Super market whee I've never seen such a huge concentration of kosher goodies. And, of course, the deli was superb.

In Rockville, MD there are a few of those. The biggest, formerly known as Katz's, now actually bears the name of KosherMart. How awesome is that?

Hopefully soon, I'll find myself in that area. I hope to visit that one!

Let me know if you're in the area; it's not as if I have a life of my own!

My family just kind of says "....Kashrut? rolleyes "

Well, we're Reform, and my dad's family is Catholic, so Dadsy doesn't know how to keep kashrut anyway XD and also his family is Portuguese and the Portuguese like their pork.... >.>

At summers I do because my camp is kosher.

But no. I don't keep kashrut XD

KosherMart > Publix. I love the name. Hard.

I think the only real kosher market by me is gone now. Now I have to rely on the packages. I hate reading packages. I hate all the random crap that companies sneak into our food.

Can I be scared that veggie dogs aren't kosher? Ick.

There are not kosher veggie dogs? That's just horrifying! What in the world is in that?

Bah! No kosher supermarket here... The closest thing I've come across is a Coles supermarket in melbourne (8 hours away) it had a kosher section. blaugh

walmart has matzah (not passover friendly matzah but matzah) they have sodium free and normal matzah all by the mexican food-.- i make it my goal everytime we go to walmart to go by it just so the matzah feels special and feels that it is known in the world ^.^ ... yes yes i know i have no life..

ok.. so i have a question if someone attemps to be kosher by not mixing milk and meat in the same meal, and only eats kosher animals, but knows that the animals most liekly aren't killed in the nicest ways... is that like basicly an oxymoron if that person is attempting to be kosher.-.-

I'm not - I love pork too much! I never eat it at home, however. Also, I don't eat seafood (or fish for that matter). Ever.
My sister (Sweet Insanity) is stricter then I am, but still pretty lose. She's "kosher style" with a "don't ask, don't tell" policy attached.
My whole family is strictest at Pesach, (ACK! I can't spell Hebrew words in ENGLISH!) We go the whole 9 yards with cleaning and such. My sister thinks that mum goes a little overboard, and I agree... not really... whatever...

I kind of keep kosher. Like my mom never buys us pork or shellfish. But, I usually have bacon when we eat out in the morning. also, I love cheeseburgers.

My family is very strict with kashrut. The half dairy/ half meat kitchen. The only eat at kosher resturants... No pork. Wait six hours between meat and dairy, the whole shebang. I don't mind any of it (except the six hour thing, I'd rather wait three) because I've never known otherwise.

Sweetie, that's way more than most people attempt. And finding kosher-slaughtered meat is difficult and expensive and you live in a non-kosher household. What you're doing is pretty amazing.
