Eric chuckled, and quickly caught himself. Pen's work was delicate, and he didn't really want to mess it up.
"I feel like I'm getting dressed up for my funeral. I guess it never really occured to me that I have a higher chance of dying on this ship than I do leaving it alive. Gives you a sense of clairty. Kinda sucks that the terms I got to know you better might as well be our own goddamn wake."

Pen finished his last braid and gave him a shove. "It didn't occur to you? I told you how many times to get your a** back home to Hattie, and it hadn't occurred to you?"

She let out a brash sigh, and leaned against the wall. She briefly quieted for 538 and then thanked him for the food as he slid it into the prison, though she didn't bother to touch it. "Well it's obvious they want to keep us alive for the time being."

"We need some kind of distraction so you can get out of here." She glanced back at Eric. "You have a knife, right? Let me see it."

(The Kore have no good practices or training when it comes to keeping prisoners, on a general basis, they prefer to kill than take prisoners. I agree, it's a big mistake, unless you've bugged the cell and want to spy on the prisoners to hear if they give you anything good in their conversations.)
"I'm not handing you a knife. I'm gonna need it." Eric slipped up to the bars of the cage, "I'll be back for you, Pen. Thanks for everything." He stepped up, fetching his lockpicks from a loose plate in the bulkhead, and set to work on the bars. In a matter of seconds, the lock clicked gently, Eric opened the cage just barely enough for him to slip through, and vanished.

Svarly smiled, "I'm one of the anomalies. I'm content to stay where I am." took a step back, standing with a slight tilt to her hips. She was tall, and clearly Ecacian in features, fair of hair, skin and eyes, with her blond hair tied up into the expected Ecacian braids. "Latching becomes rather useless in my case. So, Haldri, are you looking for combat, or staying out of the way in a fancy ship corner. We've got a war coming up, meaning plenty of opportunities to play hero and earn yourself a higher rank. The question is, what direction are you willing to take? Would you play spy, warrior, or support?"

"Depends." Haldri said as he stretched his arms a bit and rested his hands on the back of his neck. His sleeves revealed more of his right arm, and the very unprofessional grafting job that was done. "What would be more entertaining in the long run?" He looked at some other members that walked by and gave them a slight smile. "I'm not here for games of politics and ladder climbing. I'm here because this is where the action is."

Svarlena chuckled, "Either crazy, or damn scary. Tell me, Haldri, have you ever heard of an organization known as the ACO? They've been a thorn in our side for far too long. We want them gone. If you want action, this will be the job for you."

"I was going to give it back." Pen let out a sigh, but gave him a quick salute. "Be safe out there, shorty."

"Heh. Of course I've heard of the ACO." He leaned back up against the wall. "I've been with the Kore for a couple years you know. Had a couple friends over the time too." With that Haldri scratched at the scars on his right arm, as if it had suddenly started to bother him.

"Good," Svarlena's smile tightened. "Now can clever boy like you find a way to infiltrate and destroy them?"

She folded her arms. "You have all the resources you can request at your fingertips."

"Hmmm..." Haldri crossed his arms for a moment, and then started scratching at his chin. "I guess..." Running his tongue along his teeth he started to look up at the ceiling. "I guess I could 'go rogue' and feed them info." He said after a short pause. "But then again, that would also have me going in with suspicion. But they also wouldn't think the Kore dumb enough to try something so easy."

Eric slipped out, looking for a small, lone Kore officer he could mug for a uniform.

"It could work." She nodded. "We'll have a ship ready for you within an hour, make any requests within that time frame. We've heard they have some connection with Thesys, but know little else." Svarlena smiled, "You play this right, you'll be rewarded, and rewarded well. But it's a gamble, and we consider you an acceptable loss if it comes to it."

Most officers didn't travel alone, generally moving in groups, however there were uniforms closeted in the supply room, which was easily accessible enough if one had the right tools.

Eric kept himself hidden, making his way down the halls, checking each door, to see if it was the correct one. After a few agonizingly long minutes and close calls, he slipped into the supply room, hastily removing his own clothes, and shoving them into a supply chute, briefly muttering a quiet prayer that this ship had a trash incinerator. He then set out to work finding a Kore uniform in midget size, and when he found one, he dressed quickly, stepped out into the hallway, looking confused.

538 was distracted reporting that the prisoners have been fed and didn't notice Eric escaping. When he finished nothing in the prison was out of place. So 538 continued to stand til his next scheduled walk through.

Haldri smiled as he got his orders. "Yes ma'am." He said with a half-assed salute. He looked around and shrugged. "So am I heading to Thesys first?" He asked, thinking about what kind of supplies would be needed. "Or is there somewhere else you want me to hit first?"

Svarlena held out her hands in an innocent gesture. "Thesys would be a good start, but you're more or less on your own now, when it comes to direction at least. There's been a nice rumour going around that the soltaris are aligned with the ACO, you might find something there. Try not to be on the planet if it gets destroyed though."

Further down the hallway, a few kore members walked past Eric, one of them giving him an odd look, before mentioning something about noobs.

Eric wandered some more, listening intently to conversation, memorizing dialects, accents, and every hallway he passed, taking extensive care to match names to faces to ranks and those who are not to be crossed, and those that a new member would most likely report to. Much to his dismay, he heard the same name over and over, Svarlena Pendari.
