Mike smiled, hugging Crux when he finally got outside. "Good morning, sleepy." he laughed a little. "So, where could we find food?" Mike locked arms with Crux, just in case he lost balance.

"I normally go into to town for food. It's only about a twenty minute walk. Never really saw the need to keep any at home." Crux yawned as he spoke and then hugged Mike back. "We should get going." Crux would never tell Mike that the reason he didn't have any food at his house was because he hated eating alone.

Mike blinked. "You can buy food in town?" he asked in disbelief. He had always hunted for food. Going to town was a whole new experience for him. He had never been away from the country, though, so maybe that was part of it... but still, not having to hunt?

"Remember the tavern last night? They serve food as well as housing travelers." Crux nodded in amusement. "How else would we get food?"

Mike blinked again. "I've always hunted. All my life, for as long as I can remember. Whether I got something or not, well, that was up to luck." he tilted his head, confused at the idea of having food served to you. He always had a few daggers on him. You never knew when you would be hungry or attacked by something.

Crux laughed at the idea of his trampling through the woods with a bow and arrow. He'd hurt himself more than anything. "Well, I don't think that's for me. If you want to hunt, be my guest. I'll just head off to town on my own. I still need to see about getting a few things to make my cave a little more hospitable." He started to make a mental list of all that he'd need and knew he'd have to bring a hefty some of gold with him into the town to pay for it all.

Mike smiled. "I can hunt for the both of us." he said very matter-of-factly. "I don't want to cost you too much money." Mike didn't have too much a concept of costs and money, though.

"Perhaps you could come with me to the village instead?" Crux didn't want Mike to hurt himself somehow.

Mike nodded a bit. "I will go with you. I can show you how to hunt later." Hunting had always been one of Mike's favorite things to do. It made him feel as if he was in control. He followed beside and a little behind Crux, not sure how to get back and forth between town and cave yet.

Crux smiled at Mike, glad to show him a part of life he wasn't familiar with. "I don't know about hunting. . . I don't really like to hurt things. It's one thing to eat them and another to eat them." He reached his hand over and grabbed Mike's hand and started to lead him down the path through town.

Mike smiled. "I can understand. It's just what I'm used to doing. I won't force you to if you don't want to." Mike was glad to be holding hands with Crux again, it felt good. One thing bothered him, though, and that was what their kiss would have tasted like without so much of that alcohol. He was dying to find out, but it would have to wait...

Crux was glad Mike understood and to change the topic he said, "So, I think you'll like the food that's in town. The cooking wench makes the best broth. It's almost as good as her mead." Mike's hand felt warm in his as Crux led the way to town, dreaming about the first glass of the day. The warm taste of the fermented honey on his tongue, not as sweet as someone's kiss that he could talk about, but still delicious and warm.

Mike nodded. "The food does sound good." his stomach growled, demanding food once again. Mike looked down, a little embarrassed at how loud it was. He hadn't had much success hunting in a while, so his food has been pretty scarce.

Crux smiled at Mike's growling stomach. "Well, let's hurry because I'm hungry. It's been a few hours since I had anything to eat." He showed Mike the way through forest and into the town, smiling more than he had in a good long time.

Mike was smiling more than he ever had. He had someone who loved him, who wouldn't get mad at him for walking out into public places, places that he might get seen. He nodded. "I want your suggestion on what to get. I haven't had food from a tavern before."
