Sitting under a previously unoccupied tree, the limbs shaded Coal's face just enough to keep the blinding sun out of his eyes. His body was being bathed in the warm light from the sun above. He looked around at the other people in the area. "Could these possibly be my potential classmates?" He said this with both a wishful and a dreading tone. He took the letter out his pocket and held it with his right hand. He read it quickly over and over again until it was memorized.

Ren looked at her for a second, then shook his head. "Don't make one. It's taking a part out of you, and you're never the same again. Besides, there's a certain age limit. Once you pass the age of 15, you can't clear your mind enough to make one."

Kikyo sighed and continued her drawing. It was nearly complete. She was just adding the final touches to the body and wings. She looked at Quoth and began drawing a simple background. She finished the background and let everyone see it. It looked like a normal bird sketch, but there was something different about it. It had a bit of Kikyo's tortured style in it, but it wasn't obvious.
"Sucks, don't it?" she asked, still not looking up.

Ren smiled softly, then stopped leaning on the tree near the group and walked over to Kikyo. He crouched next to her and Quoth stepped onto his arm and hopped up to his shoulder. "Don't say it like that. You've been blessed with a gift. The more you say it's bad, the worse it will become. It's OK to tell yourself that you're good every once in a while."
Quoth eyeballed the picture. "It's pretty good, yeah. Not nearly as handsome as me, though. And it makes me seem a little...abused, if ya look at it the right way. Know what I'm saying? Anyway, you got pretty close to the real me, but its got its flaws. Still, even if it's not quite as nice looking as me, it's still pretty damn handsome."
Ren glared at Quoth. "Would you think about something other than yourself for five minutes? Just to do me a favor, for once, you conceited bird."
Quoth did a shrug-like motion. "Whenever you insult me, you're really insulting the old bit of you that you gave up. I may be conceited, but I don't know how you could have been. It must be the eighth wonder of the world or something."
"You moronic bird! I have plenty of likable characteristics! I just so happen not to be that open about them!"
"Looks like I didn't take all the conceitedness, then."
"Fine. Name one good characteristic of yourself."
"That's easy. I'm irrisitably handsome and sexy." Quoth made a point of making a sizzling noise at the end, but the problem was that he had no teeth, and therefore failed and made a strange spluttering sound.
"You look like a bundle of rags with some feathers sticking out." Ren was brash and obvious, and he told the truth. Quoth was no peacock.
"What?! You wanna settle this like a man?! Step outside!"
"We are outside!"
"You know what I mean!"
"Not really!"
"That's a sure sign of being a retard!"
"This from someone who can't do simple math? I think I've won this one before we started."
"What?! I refuse to lose this argument to you!"
"You two...seriously. Then again, could I have expected anything else?" Ryu smiled as she approached the small group.
"Ryu." Ren stood up suddenly, Quoth doing his best to stay on his shoulder.
Ryu smiled and waved. "I'm gonna hang around for a while. How about you?"
"I don't care."

"you misunderstood me." She said calmly. "I meant I wonder if I could control him... He is part of a human spirit... but he is still an animal..." She said thinking. "Oh.. I should probably explain... I can kind of control animals with music.... and what I was wondering is if it would work on quoth."

Kikyo sighed and tore the picture out of her sketchbook. She handed it to Ren, then stood up.
"See you guys." She said, walking away from the group.
'What are you doing?!' A voice inside her head demanded. 'They all want to be your friend!'
'But I'd only end up hurting them.' her conscious whispered.
'LET IT GO ALREADY!' the same side of her yelled. 'YOU WERE A KID AND IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!'
On the outside, Kikyo merely shook her head as she walked away.

Anthony jumped from the building he was walking on to the sidewalk. He was in place, then another in a split second. Anthony was bored and looking for something to do, looking for other Rouges.

Rose came up to the school and all she heard was buzzing. Tons and tons of buzzing, because she could read minds. It got a little annoying, especially if the person was thinking about stupid stuff, like shoes or hair or make-up, which normally went to the girl's head. She would rather just read the guy's minds because they were so much interesting. She sat down by a bunch of flowers that were starting to die. Next thing you know, the flowers were blooming. She quietly smiled to herself.

Rose looked up, laughed a little, and smiled. "Hello Kimiko, I'm Rose, how are you today?"
