Serenity hesitated a moment, then reached over and took Gaunt's hand, holding it between both of her own.
"Then I think," she murmured softly, smiling up at him, "that the only thing anyone can do, is do what they can not to let it happen to them ... and to pass it on to those who they can."
She could hardly believe she had dared to do such a thing, and to say such a thing, but she hadn't been able to help herself ... it had just been an instinct, had felt like the right thing to do. On the other hand, it also brought her to a sudden realization ... that she liked Gaunt ... very much.
Ian grinned and leaned against Prince, still gasping for air and trying to catch his breath. "I think maybe I'll nap first," he confided to his friend, "and then eat after, when I wake up again. 'Less there's something really yummy that my tummy can't wait for a sleep."
He giggled. "I think Mom brought some really yummy snacks."

He tilts his head, then he smiles softly. He shifted his hand in her grip to gently interlock their fingers, nodding slowly. "Mmn. I agree with you. Two people who love each other very much will teach their young to love. And they will meet someone who will also love, and hopefully the chain will grow longer, filled up with people who are not afraid to love with all their heart." He smiles warmly and he looks her in the eyes, again losing themselves in their depths. She was just so good to look at, and he felt at ease when he was with her. And he longed for her when they were apart, even if that time was only a few days between their first and second meetings.
Prince nods and he smiles softly. "Well, I'll make sure they save some for you then if they eat before them! I'll.. I'll.. I'll bite their fingers if they try to eat it all!" He nods firmly to himself. It was about all he could do, since he was so small.

Serenity was surprised by Gaunt interlacing their fingers, and she blushed hotly, but she smiled brightly at him and shifted her hand as well so that their fingers would lock together perfectly.
She wanted to say something, but she couldn't find the words to say. She agreed with what he had said, of course, but yet ... at the same time ... she couldn't help but feel that he had meant more than what he had said ... that he wasn't just talking about some theoretical people in an unknown existence ... but that perhaps ... just perhaps ... he might have in some way been referring to the two of them.
Or maybe it was just her hopes speaking.
Ian winced at Prince's words. "Just don't bite too hard," he requested. "Mama needs her hands to paint, and that's how she gets her money, and if she can't paint then she can't buy stuff for us, okay? And then we might not be able to come play with you and Gaunt again ..."
His eyes grew wide with fear. "And that wouldn't be good because then we can't play together and we can't have fun and I would miss you!" he blurted all in one breath, his words running so fast they were almost blurring together.

He smiles softly, his cheeks lighting up a little bit. He seemed like he was ready to say something, but he wasn't really able to get it out. He took a breath, but ended up letting it go while he blushed a little deeper. This happened a time or two, before he bit his lip firmly and opened his mouth. "Maybe, because we seem to.. feel the same way.. about things.. and.. I really like you.. that's why.. I.. uh.. think that.. maybe we should.. try to.. you know.. uh.. be.. uh.. you know.. boyfriend and girlfriend?" He blinked at himself when he finally managed to get all that out, now blushing in embarrassment because he had to ask.
Of course, Prince and Ian were completely unaware of the 'magic' that was going on not too far away. Prince blinked when Ian suddenly started to babble at him why biting fingers was a bad idea. He lifted his hand and he laughs a little. "Alright, I won't bite anyone's fingers. I'll just.. ask them to hold some for you! Though.. I'm sure they're already planning on doing that.. right?"

Serenity was somewhat ... amazed ... but also impressed that Gaunt, for once, seemed as shy as she usually did, and though she suspected what he was going to say from the moment he opened his mouth, she allowed him to finish without interruption. The smile on her face grew wider and brighter, though her blush also grew redder at the same time.
When it came time for her to give her answer, her heart was pounding in her chest so hard that she could hear it, and she was sure that Gaunt had to be able to hear it as well.
"I would like that," she replied, almost in a whisper, her eyes sparkling brightly as she looked into Gaunt's. "Very much."
Ian sighed with relief and nodded. "They should ... Mom knows what my favourite snacks are, so she made sure to bring lots of everything."
He looked down the slide. "So ... how do we go down together?" he asked. "Beside each other, or ... what?"

He smiles brightly at her answer. It was exactly what he wanted to hear. He let himself gaze into those warm sparkling eyes, his own likely sparkling in response, before his resolve broke down and he tugged her hand to get her to get closer to him, immediately afterwords letting go so he could gather her into his arms, holding her closely and warmly against him, whispering into her ear. "I'm so happy.."
Prince nods and he smiles softly. "Dad brought this.. this.. sushi stuff. I've never had any of that before, but I guess it looks okay." It was California rolls to be exact. Pretty tame. Not as tame as egg sushi, but tame all the same. He glances at Ian and he smiles softly. "Sit behind me. And put your legs alongside mine. That way we can go down together!"

Serenity's blush deepened even further, and as Gaunt slipped his fingers from hers she put her hands behind his back and held him close, putting her head on his shoulder. Her smile was so wide it almost hurt, but that didn't bother her.
"So am I," she whispered back, though she spoke it not into his ear, but into his hair and neck, where her face was. She let the hug linger, enjoying not only the warmth that was spreading through her body, but the fact that she was no longer alone ... not in the way she had been before.
"Oh, my uncle makes that stuff," Ian grinned, moving to sit behind Prince and putting his legs around him as instructed. "I like it, 'cept it's pretty big even though it's small for normal people."
He edged forwards a bit so that it wouldn't require as much work for him to go over the edge of the slide. "Should I hold onto you?" he asked, holding his arms forward but hesitating to wrap them around Prince's stomach.

He smiles softly as he lets the hug longer on as long as she wanted it to. He had to admit that he could get very used to this, and he enjoyed the feel of her close to him. So he really wasn't in a hurry to let her go. He gently nuzzled the top of his nose against her ear, smiling a little to himself and mildly curious about her reaction.
Prince nods and he smiles softly. "I haven't had it. Dad said it was simple stuff, just avacado, and crab, and a carrot. He said there's a lot more el.. el.. elb.. complex sushi out there." He smiles at Ian when he got behind him and held on to his stomach. "Alright, you ready? Here we go~!" He pushed off to start sliding. "Whee!"

Serenity had just started to really relax when Gaunt rubbed the top of her ear, and she squealed and pressed her ear hard against his cheek. She laughed sheepishly and looked up at him, blushing again.
"I thought Ian told you that I'm ticklish," she murmured, embarrassed. "Or was that why you did that?"
If it was, then it wasn't really fair - she had yet to find out his weakness ... though when she did, she was going to make him pay every time he tickled her.
Ian nodded and held on tightly. "Ready!" he cheered.
Going down the twisty slide was not faster than the other one, but it seemed so because of the curves, and Ian loved they way they seemed to fly down the plastic surface.
"WHOAAAAA!!!" he cried gleefully as they went down. "So much better than the other one!"

He blinks when she reacted so strongly and he laughs softly and shakes his head when he was questioned about it. Of course, he was ticklish too. Not in the ears, but other places. "No, I had completely forgotten all about that. Why would I ruin a nice moment like this just so I could tickle you?" He smiles softly at her, not really letting her go quite yet.
Prince laughed all the way down. It was better - or, at least, it was funner. Once they were both safely on the ground, he turns to run toward Serenity and Gaunt, but he stops in mid-stride and points. "Ian! LOOK!"

Serenity laughed and, keeping one hand on his back, put her other hand on his chest and tapped it with her index finger.
"Because you, sir," she grinned up at him, "seem to me to be someone who loves to tease." She giggled and flicked his chin, careful to make sure it wouldn't be too hard. "Which is one of the fun things about you."
While Prince had slidden right off the end of the slide, Ian had stopped at the bottom of it, where it had leveled out, and he had to wriggle his way forward and hop off the end himself. Thus he was a few steps behind Prince when his friend stopped and called his name, and pointed his attention towards their parents.
When he saw them together, he clamped his hands over his mouth and giggled. "I knew it!" he exclaimed gleefully. "I knew this would happen! Right when she asked Grandma and Grandpa for a computer so that she could talk to Gaunt all the time I knew this was gonna happen!"

He laughs softly but he does his best to look innocent. He tries to bat his eyes innocelty. "Who, me? A teaser? Whatever are you talking about?" He chuckles lightly and he grins at her, shrugging a little. "If I have to tease a little to see that beautiful smile of yours, then maybe I can tease you all day long. Would you rather me have that response?" Of course, the moment all came crashing down..
Prince gasps softly and he looked at Ian. "Really?! Wow, she must really like him if she's doing all that for my dad!" He continues to watch from a small distance, though certainly their voices would be carrying.
And indeed their voices have been. Gaunt laughs softly as he glances toward the two Surprises that were clucking at them like hens, so to speak. He chuckles and shakes his head as he looks at Serenity. "Well, looks like we've been found out.

Ian nodded seriously at Prince. "She does," he agreed. "She kept talking to herself when we were at home, and she bugged Aunt Kali to check her email every single hour ... even Auntie Skye knew what she was talking about, and she's deaf!"
Serenity giggled at Gaunt. He was teasing her, again! She was about to reply when he directed her attention to the two boys who were sitting and talking about them.
"Well," she murmured, blushing again and smiling up at Gaunt, "they would have to know eventually, wouldn't they? But we'll just have to be careful about what we let them see and hear ... one of the few disadvantages to having a family as large as mine all living in the same place ... rumours spread like wildfire, and there's no stopping them ... and some of my aunts and uncles are of the type to twist words and add new meanings ... and make up new things altogether."
Still, she saw no need for the boys - or the family, for that matter - not to know. Some of them would say it was her turn.

Prince nodded. "Yeah! The same goes for my dad! But.. since he lives alone in his room, and he has a computer of his own, but he was always checking his email. He even got a program on the computer that let him know whenever mail came in so he'd be able to respond right away!" He smiles as he watches on. "It's nice to see dad happy."
He smiles and he shakes his head slowly as he hears Serenity describe her family. That had to be troublesome to not be able to have a private life. Up until this moment, Gaunt was a private person, and he probably still was. He didn't want his life to be open to inspection. He gazes warmly into Serenity's eyes and he shrugs. "Yeah, I guess they would know eventually. And they'd be the first to know anyway since we'd most likely have them around a lot." He shrugs and he bites his lip for a few seconds before he nods. "Well. At least from my point of view, let them talk. I don't mind what other people say, because they're not going to change my opinion, nor my desire to be with you." He smiles gently at her, letting his hands sip down to her waist, letting them rest on the curve.

Ian blinked curiously at Prince. "Isn't your dad usually happy?" he asked. "He seemed pretty happy when you guys got here ... and the other day when we went for ice cream ..."
He trailed off thoughtfully. "Though Mom's always usually happy too, but she's been happier than ever since she met your dad ... so I guess I kinda know what you mean ..."
Serenity's face flushed again, and she was very self-conscious about where his hand was resting - only because of the implied intimacy of the act, and not that she minded it.
"In the end," she murmured with a smile, "they'll leave me to do what I truly desire. I really don't think there will be any trouble at least."
