Nick closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath before launching into his explanation, all while still trying to calm and comfort Nori. "Last night...I...we did what's called an exchange." He went on in both his mind and voice to explain it, so that he'd fully understand what it was, how it was Nick could speak telepathically to him all while giving him a basic overview of what kind of powers Carpathians were naturally born with. It would be alot to take in, but with the mental pathway now open, Nick was able to explain it better than he could by words alone. Finally, when he was done, wincing slightly and wondering what Nori would do, he watched his face carefully, eyes worried and concerned.

At some point during the explanation Nori sat down. Else he might've collapsed at what Nick was saying he'd done.

"A....an exchange? Of blood? I drank your blood? You -MADE- me drink your blood?" Suddenly the coppery taste in his mouth earlier when he awoke made sense. He was also suddenly glad he hadn't eaten anything, else it would be all over the floor now. "How...? Why...?" He was deeply disturbed. It wasn't so much that he HAD drunken the blood of his master. Moreso, it was the fact that his master had appearantly forced him to do it, controlling him, and had even blocked away any memory of it from his mind. ...and then promptly forgotten about this telepathy thing.

....It also explained why everything had been so good and perfect during their fun. He'd been reading everything he wanted to have done to him from his mind...before he even knew that he wanted it! That was just plain unfair.

"Look, you've been so worried about me walking out on you, I thought this would be something you'd want." Standing up, Nick began pacing the floor, not quite able to sit still anymore. "It allows you the same abilities I have...meaning you can read my mind as well." He looked at him for a long moment as he said, "You can learn all you want about me, my past, if I'm telling you the truth, about my people....it means I'm a literal open book to you. No longer do you have to wonder about this crazy master of yours, about his real motives, you can find out for yourself just as easily if you wanted." Raising an eyebrow, he added, "Don't tell me you haven't enjoyed it...and you can do the same right back now. Having my blood in your system increases your own personal psychic abilities."

Pacing once more, he fell silent, thinking about how to make it up to him and finally lay down in front of him, not touching but enticingly close. "Look, I'll make you a promise. In the ritual when a Carpathion and someone not of our species seek to become lifemated, a part of the ritual involves three exchanges of blood total before it's complete. The first was done last night, but I promise that the other two will be by your consent only." His eyes were pleading, but he'd willingly accept whatever Nori decided....this was one of the times the cards had fortold.

The concept of reading his master's mind was lost to him. He had no idea how he was supposed to do so. The only "psychic" ability he really had was in reading one's fortune so long as he had objects with which to do so as with the cards or runes. Granted, it'd been discerned that he could read almost anything. He frowned as he thought it over, staring at the ground.

His master had forced him to drink blood and erased the memory of it... But he'd only done it so he'd be able to read him like he could to Nori... And he was promising to not do that again without consent... Only three times to complete the ritual.... .....Ritual?

"What ritual? What do you mean?" He looked up at him, trying to relay that he was trying very hard to be willing on this.

Nick paused as he thought how best to explain it without lying or making it seem easier than it would be for him in the end. The fact that he was willingly listening to what it would entail was a big step, and it would be a large part of his final decision that could make or break them both.

"The ritual itself is fairly simple, however I won't lie and say it won't be difficult as well. When a Carpathian male is born, there are...binding words imprinted upon his soul, that, when said, will forge his soul and his lifemate's soul into one complete whole. That's the easy part...the hard part is the rest of it, most especially the last two exchanges. Each exchange brings you further into my world, with the last one changing you into a full Carpathian so that we can be together for eternity."

Sitting up, he continued on, still trying to reassure Nori, but it was edged with a bit of worry that he tried to hide. Still, he felt it best that if Nori was to make the right decision, he should know the full truth of what each entailed and it's side effects. "The second exchange will force you to stay out of direct sunlight, it'll burn and blind you easily if you remain in it for two long. The third...completes the process, and is the most difficult and painful as it will purge from your system all the impurities and bring you fully into my world. I know it sounds bad, but afterwards, you are given a great gift as well..not only will your life be prolonged, but you will have all my abilities too, including shape-shifting, and your own psychic powers will be at their full potential."

He was really pushing this whole "lifemate" issue. Of course he didn't believe he was a lifemate to anyone. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He didn't really care for the prolonged life. After all, his own kind lived for centuries. But to become like him just to be with him for eternity? He knew enough vampire lore to know that was actually quite accurate. Did he really want to give up the sun and take up drinking blood just to be by his Master's side.

He hesitated for a moment. "I...I understand. But if it's really up to me...then I would like more time to think upon the decision. I don't think it should be one taken lightly..."

"I understand." Nick left it at that, not wanting to say that his decision would affect just how long or short his lifespan was. If Nori chose another path....

Not wanting to think about that, he got up and walked towards the door and adding, trying his best to hide the worry from his mind and voice so that it wouldn't cause Nori to agree to such things out of guilt or possible disappointment to him. "Perhaps it'd best if you spent some time alone to consider this without any influence on my part. I'll be back in a few hours. If you need me, just call me with your mind and I'll return." He knew that dawn was close, but he'd remain out as long as he could to give Nori some space. Just before he disappeared out the entrance, he did promise, "I will return."

Then he was gone, winging his way into the night, letting the wind carry him aloft above the trees, and for a time he did his best to forget just how precarious his life was now. A simple yes or no could make or break them both.

He sat alone in the darkness of their cave. Why were such heavy decisions being thrown at him now? He was a slave. Nothing more. He should just be doing what he was told. With a sigh he lay there on the ground. Obviously speaking, this was it. This decision was the one foretold. They would either live long, or one or both of them would die. It chilled him to the bone to think of it.

He would give up the sun... He couldn't really imagine that. Even becoming accustomed to his master's clock he was still awake for a few daylight hours. He frowned. To drink only blood... Granted, a fresh kill was bloody itself, so it basically changed to simply not eating the meat. Ok so he couldn't really imagine sustaining himself like that either. But at least the thought wasn't appalling.

He'd be gaining new abilities according to Nick... That was rather promising. After all, he'd be able to go with him instead of having to stay alone as he was now. But there would be pain... And by the sound of it, alot of pain. Still, while he didn't like it, he could handle it... Bright teal eyes turned to the scars on his arm while one paw was brought up to his throat. Pain was of no consequence... Not anymore...

He stood and looked at the cave's exit for a moment before silently walking over and sitting at the opening. He had no idea how he was supposed to call him, had never used any telepathy before that he supposedly had now. Still, it would soon be dawn, and he had asked to summon him like so... He had no idea if this would reach him at all, but he tried focusing on him before trying to 'send' his thoughts.

Master....? I believe I have thought this through.....

I'm coming...

The sound of beating wings a few minutes later heralded his arrival as a black owl descended, nearly blending in with the night if it'd been truly dark, but the dawn's light touching the sky showed him clearly. It circled almost lazily for a moment just above the entrance to the cave before finishing it's descent, it's form shivering so that when it landed, Nick appeared as the lion Nori knew.

Sitting down, he curled his tail about his paws and watched Nori silently, not willing to break the silence. Nodding his head, he urged him to continue but did little more, unconsciously holding his breath in anticipation and partial dread...

He blinked at the mental communication, surprised at the quick reponse. s**t, it actually worked...

Anticipation had him shuffling around where he sat until he saw the owl. He knew it was Nick without a doubt. The thought rather irked him. Just when had he become an expert at telling owls apart? He waited until the owl landed before him, now in the form he knew so well.

At his nod he pulled his ears back nervously and stared down at his paws.

"I... Well, first off I don't think it's right. The decision falling on me. I'm supposed to just follow orders, not think for myself and make such huge decisions..." He sighed. "But nevertheless, I thought it over... point by point. I can't really imagine not seeing the sun anymore, but I don't really think I'd mind too much. I've already tried to match my schedule to yours as best I could, and I've lived most of my life inside, away from the sun. I don't mind losing the day. As for drinking blood... It's kind of a strange thought, but really one eats fresh kills anyway. It's almost the same. As for the pain you said I would go through... I don't care about pain... I have lived through alot of it. I've lived through enough to kill normal beings ten times over. I dislike it, but I will not hide from this pain..."

He looked up at him nervously. "So...you have my consent..." I want to stay with you...

Nick's soul about exploded from relief, and while he wanted to cheer and let the world know how happy he was, he settled for radiating it to Nori and padding closer to sit beside him. Adding comfort, Nick nuzzled him softly. His heart soared as he was finally given permission to what he'd longed to since they first met. "I claim you as my lifemate. I belong to you. I offer my life for you. I give to you my protection, my allegiance, my heart, my soul, and my body. I take into my keeping the same that is yours. Your life, happiness, and welfare will be cherished and placed above my own for all time. You are my lifemate, bound to me for all eternity and always in my care."

Nick closed his eyes, feeling as he said those words, his soul binding forever with Nori's, and he realized the irony that the words in one sense made him a slave in return to his mate, and he chuckled, sending that thought to Nori as well if he'd not realized it himself "I'll do my best to make it as easy on you as possible, as I can make you sleep through part of the pain and also share it with you so that the effect wont' be so much for you to bear. I'll prepare you as much as I can about my people and they're ways so you are not surprised when this is over. I'll take it slow..." He wrapped his tail around Nori's front paws, nipping erotically at the back of his neck, adding mentally, and I won't do the last two until you are ready.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 06, 2009 1:41 pm

He didn't have time to ponder over the words. Even as they were said he could feel ....something.... almost reach out from deep within him and connect with something within Nick. It actually did feel like something he hadn't known been missing had just been put back in it's proper place.

"I...you....since when were those kind of words made literal?" No one actually meant soul-binding in a literal sense. ...Cept Nick appearantly. He leaned into him, half shocked, half distracted by his touch. Which, incidentally, he no longer felt anything against. Where before, he was only fine when he himself had either willed it or was in control, he felt no fear now towards sudden touches and caresses from his master ....Or bites... Actually, those were clouding this mind... He purred low, pressing against him in reaction.

"You're distracting me...I'm supposed to be concerned over this..." If you don't stop that I'm going to be a pile of goo instead of something functional...Piles of goo aren't good at servicing anything...

Nick nibbled at him again, chuckling even as he purred deeply. "It's always been so with my kind." Pulling back he gave Nori a shocked look even while his mind was rolling with amusement. "Don't tell you want to take back your consent now?" Leaning back in he added mentally (while doing some very distracting things physically) Earlier you said you felt it unfair that the decision had to be yours alone. Sure, I could of forced you into this, but you'd of hated me the rest of your life and yourself for not being able to be without me...I may not know everything about you, but I've known enough to know that you didn't need anymore pain, any more hurt. If you think about it in one sense, the words I spoke bound me to you as a slave...a slave to your happiness, for I could never be happy knowing you were not. I'd of been a hypocrite to speak them after I'd tried it any other way that what I've done...

...and if you want to make use of that bedding, perhaps now would be best before the lethargy that my people experience as the sun rises comes and forces you to wait for twilight again.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 06, 2009 2:10 pm

Appearantly he was losing the ability to speak. Ah, so this was why telepathy was a good idea...

Not taking back my consent... I meant it... Just had no idea about the whole literal thing... I might've hated you if your forced me...but not forever... Maybe a few hundred years... And if anyone's a slave here it's me... Soon to be pile of goo... Very soon... He was losing it, his body on fire. He was enjoying this far too much. Inside now please? Before day takes away fun?

I live to serve, Nick chuckled mentally as he nipped again at Nori's neck, wrapping one paw around him and basically locking him to his side. I'd of been miserable the whole time, and I guarantee you that while you'd hated me, the slave/master relationship would of been truly switched just in hopes you'd do so.

Nick led him inside, where the early morning was made to good use, but was gone all too soon. He stayed awake as long as he could, but eventually the lethargy took over and he was forced to stop...but damn it'd been good, and the aroma from the flowers had been a VERY good touch on Nori's part. Sleepily yawning, Nick asked, Do you finally believe that love exists?
