Djers Haschen hates bards.
But there was something about the ambience, about the aesthetic quality of the air around him, that caused him to wander into town with an unexpected whiff of pleasure. This intrigue could not have taken root from his childhood; he had always remembered hating folk music. The attraction might have been inherited suddenly from the memories of his father. Not only was the dwarf renowned across his race for purportedly consummating his relationships with an enormity of women (where his oldest son was born of the ugliest), but old Haschen was the most skilled bard there was.
Of course, that's not really saying much. Sure, Haschen was talented, and the rest of the closed-minded village was surely satisfied by the charm of it all. But Djers had heard far sweetar melodies and far more etherial chords than his stud of a dwarf father could ever muster. He was able to extend his apprenticeship beyond the bare requirements of efficiency with a gun and an animal, and in spite of displeasant memories with music, learned to control his deep baritone in song.
Since he was quite proficient in song, he began to hum an improvised melody to the stringed sounds about the town. As he approached the gun shop for the purpose of cleaning and fine-tuning his rifle, he was reprimanded by the assistant, who bluntly professed "No Pets!" Sure, Lido was fierce in battle, but he was far from savage.
Unable and unwilling to compromise with the dimwitted assistant, Djers Haschen seated himself on a bench in the middle of town and began to hum another extemperaneous tune.

Ashe followed Sorrow through the town, looking at all the buildings. When Sorrow stepped into the store she followed. She looked at the price tags on some of them and gave a low whistle. She had the money to pay for them, but it'll definitely make her bag lighter. She looked at Sorrow and said, "I'll leave the choices up to you. I'll be outside, call me when you've made your choices." With that she stepped back outside. A dwarf had seated himself on a bench near the store and was humming to himself. She smiled, if she could add his coins to hers then paying for the cloth wouldn't be a problem. The problem with getting the coins from the dwarf was the wolf sitting near him. This will be fun. She walked silently up to the dwarf, leaning against the building as if she didn't notice the him or the wolf. Her hand reach out and set about loosing the strings of his purse.

Flint walked up to the inn, stepping inside. A short conversation with the innkeeper later, and he was back outside again. It appeared he didn't want him cutting up a gourd inside his rooms. Oh well. He walked over to a small bench near the back, and got to work. With his knife, he cut the gourd in half, then emptied it into a feeding trough for some animals that where in a pen nearby. He put the emptied gourd on a fence, hoping it would dry up soon. He held up the piece of wood, and after attaching the strings to the metal pins, he set that up near the gourd. He noticed he forgot one thing, so he went over a few buildings to a tanner, and got himself some animal skin. Flint made his way back again to the back of the inn, and picked up the nearly dried gourd. He cut a hole in the side, and pulled the wooden plank through it slightly, then with a few nails and pieces of wood kicking around the shed behind the inn, he attached the neck firmly into place. And then he waited again, this time for the gourd to dry completely.

If it weren't for a loyal companion these days, a man could go broke in an instant. Lido had awoken from his short nap to notice a young woman playing the role of a thief. Having seen enough thieves, Lido might have remained timid, if the satchel she was perusing wasn't his master's prized possession.
"A-roooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
"Hrm?"
Djers Haschen turned his head to the left, where both noise and movement were originating. A seemingly young woman was trying to make quick work of the gold coins which populated his satchel, but the wolf's cry seemed to freeze her dead in her tracks. Were he farther away from her, he might draw his rifle just to scare the bats out of her, but since she was within three feet of him, he decided to let his stare do the work. The lady trembled, dropping about twenty coins, the equivalent of a year's worth of pay as an apprentice, which he had recently finished.
"Pick 'em up."

Sorrow had been browsing for quite a time. She placed a few sheets of cloth on the counter, looking over at the shop keep.
“Hold these for me for a minute or two.”
Sorrow stepped out the door and looked around spotting Ashe standing next to a small man and a pet wolf. She started to walk closer and she began to wave at her. Motioning her hand back and forth waiting for Ashe to notice her.
“Ashe! C’mon!”
She then noticed the man had his hand on her wrist. Sorrow walked forward to see what the heck was going on, not quite knowing the full situation.
“What’s going on here?”

"More thieves? I should have expected. Well, you can't have my money or my wolf!"
Djers wielded his oak staff, taking it from the holster on his back. He pounded it against the floor, beckoning Lido to perch at his feet. He then spoke boldly, switching his gaze from the attempted crook to the winged girl.
"I will not fight you, but I demand you explain yourself on her behalf as well as your own. Master told me about the lot of you...
"And you..." Eyes darted back to the thief, "Pick those up."

((-reads posts-...WHAT?! Whoa whoa whoa, back up here. Dillchip: That's not how Ashe would have reacted to the wolf's howl. She's a dragon and can easily overpower both Lido and Djers, something like that wouldn't have scared her that badly. I'm really annoyed that you went and controlled a character that's not yours. The only reason that I let Demidom do that is because Ashe had offered to escort Sorrow around, she had permission to control Ashe to some extent, but not have Ashe act in anyway other than to follow Sorrow. Since this is your first time interacting with the other's and the fact that Demidon had already posted I'll let it slid, but please know that Ashe would have ran when Lido howled, taking whatever coins she had in her hand with her.))
Ashe scowled, she had let the wolf startle her a split second too long. She glanced at Sorrow when she came up and then noticed that the dwarf's eyes where on her too. She used that distraction to yank her hand out of his grasp and leveled her gaze at him. She could easily take on both, but there was already a small crowd of on looks forming, and she wasn't in the mood for giving them something to talk about. She sighed and squatted to pick up the fallen coins. "Here," she said handing them back to the dwarf. "And Sorrow's no thief so don't go blaming her for anything. She knows nothing." And besides, what needs to be explained?" she continued. "You where practically asleep on the bench. Not the best thing to be doing in any town."

[Oh boy...] Mike had been wandering around the shops aimlessly, just looking at some things as he walked by. He stopped at a jewelry store to provide better cover for the team’s plan. If he was going to be married to Sorrow, he would have to get her a ring. After a small bit of searching, he found one that fit just right. It was a golden ring with an elven inscription on it. Though it was a different form of writing than Mike had learned in his village, he still managed to recall some of the letters, roughly spelling out “Forever and Always”, meaning Forever in love and Always together. After a decent amount of gold had been paid, Mike pocketed the ring and began to look for Sorrow. He had gone to the inn but found no one there. So he began his search for his friends.
After a little bit he had found no trace of them. Mike sighed, slightly annoyed and slightly disappointed. He wondered what Sorrow would think of the ring he had bought. He rested against a building near the center of town and looked at the ring. It was shiny, but also quite old, some of the gold being a different color than the rest of it. There was something inscribed on the inside of it, but it was too faded to make out with a memory like Mike’s. He remembered his childhood, but not all of his heritage. He didn’t know what town he had come from, what his elves called themselves, or even how to speak the language. He sighed again, annoyed that his memory was still a puzzle to which he had no keys left, but a multitude of locks.
Then he heard a howl. It came from a wolf that was in the center of the town. Mike had heard many animals cry out before, and this kind of call was one of alert. Mike also knew that wolves were not the kind of animals to live in a crowded human town, so there was something going on. Mike put the ring on his finger and quickly jogged towards the center of town, spotting Ashe and Sorrow. He was about to say something when he saw a dwarf and a wolf. From the looks of it, trouble was beginning to brew, so Mike placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, gripping it slightly incase he had to draw it. He stood next to Sorrow and looked at the dwarf, calmly, yet with a bit of intimidation saying “Is there a problem here sir?” He looked over at Sorrow. He was she was innocent, and he hadn’t thought Ashe would do anything bad. But this dwarf didn’t seem to be ready to brawl…yet.

Nightwind-Dragon I'm really annoyed that you went and controlled a character that's not yours. ((Whoa, I totally let that slip by. You can tell I'm new at this then... but no excuses I guess, I'll just try harder to make sure that doesn't happen again.)) "Well." Djers Haschen's voice averted from annoyed to calm as he assessed the civility of his peers. "I guess I ought apologize for the trouble. Although a sleeping man is far from competent when it comes to humming a tune. My father taught me that..." His voice began to trail off and his eyes rolled a bit. "Can I help you? If you have a decent reason for resorting to thievery, and it does not seem as though you do, then maybe I might be so kind as to increase my financial woes for the sake of allieving yours. Short as I am, I might be better off fighting your enemies instead of making some of my own." Djers might have been getting carried away, but in his apprenticeship, one of the most important aspects of hunting is that of diplomacy, whether with humans or otherwise. "Formalities? Yes, I think they are in order. Djers Haschen." He pointed to his wolf, and it looked as if it was unsure of what to do by now. "Lido. most loyal companion one could have." He extended his hand.

((It's ok, as stated before I had a rough work night and I took out my frustrations on you.))
Ashe spotted Mike and shook her head. "Everything's fine, Mike. I just wasn't expecting to get caught." She looked Djers and took his hand, "I'm Ashe Windsong, this is Sorrow and Mike." Here she motioned to each as she said their names. She took her own purse and handed it to Sorrow. "Here, use these to pay for the cloth. Take Mike with you and I'll meet you both back at the inn." She turned back to Djers. "Not really in any financial problems. Just didn't expect your friend to wake."

"It was probably your smell. Not to talk down about your hygiene, but this buddy here," Djers said, petting his pooch, "can smell anything on this street individually, and the next street too perhaps. One time I was chasing him through town, not knowing what he saw or whatnot, and all he was chasing after was a pie some little old lady dropped. Ate it in three bites, this boy's got the appetite, I say."
Lido was now still resting at the dwarf's feet, meaning that, considering the dwarf's size, his waist down was now concealed. Djers leaned forward as his hearty beritone reduced to a whisper. "Say, uh, do you happen to know where the king is? I just finished my apprenticeship, meaning that as a hunter, I take missions from the king. But my master never was kind enough to tell me which way. Maybe that's my real first test or something. The last person I asked laughed at me and mistook me for a human child. Of course, with my beard, I don't quite understand the confusion."

Ashe looked at Lido and raised and eyebrow. "I'll believe that." She squatted down and placed her hand in front of Lido's nose. She met Djers' eyes and her eyes darkened. "A hunter huh...?" She waved her other hand towards the castle. "He's there. Thought I don't know about getting in. Did your master give you a letter or something?"

Lido sniffed Ashe's hand, and with the scent of familiarity, lapped it a few times. This is not unusual of a tamed wolf, considering the similarities Lido has to a Rottweiler. In fact, the previous owner couldn't tell if Lido really was a wolf. He sure fought like one.
"All I have is this emblem. Master says this will grant me and any allies direct entry to the King's Chambers, without written permission, for the purpose of..." His voice became matter-of-fact, as if he had memorized his Master's message on the last day of his apprenticeship. "...Obtaining work or royal commissions. I don't know if I can bring allies. I would think so though; were my job to pick gourds or tame camel, the King would see no need in supplying me with fighters to assist. But I think since my apprenticeship was for hunting, not taming, then hunting is exactly what I'd be doing. I personally either way would use all the help I can get.
"Are you and your party off to see the king?"
