"I can only try to thaw it, right? But I guess it should wait until these Mogall's are dealt with. Stay by my side Nils! Between the two of us, nothing is impossible!" As the Mogalls began roaming the air, the Fire Dragon began to fire away his fiery-precious Flametongue at anything in its range. (1-3 Range FTW!). Thankfully, it went further then their dark magic. Three mogalls that had their single eye's directed at Nils bursted from the heat.

Nils trembled slightly, stepping closer to the Fire Dragon.
"Calm down, Nils... just calm down... I need to CALM DOWN... I have to do my part." Slipping Ninis' Grace on his finger, he raised his flute to his lips and played, focusing so the effects would go to Amelia, Blossom, Rhys, and Fire Dragon.

"Come now, Soren. I call everyone that," the bishop told him gently. "After all, I am 'Father Renault', am I not?" He smiled again, this time carrying it over to his eyes as well. "But, have no worries. I saved you because it is my duty, and because I quite like you." However, it seemed that nobody was paying attention to them; and other than that, there seemed to be more enemies coming. The bishop shook his head, then shifted Soren's weight more evenly to his shoulders and began walking towards the others. "Well, perhaps we should-"

However, this thought was cut off suddenly by the wave of pain that shot through his mind. The bishop's eyes shot wide open, pupils dilating as he lost his footing and crashed to the ground, taking Soren with him. What. . . was this? A dark presence, unlike anything he had felt before. . . beyond even that of Nergal's twisted mind. It was invasive, predatory even. . . and beyond his power to stop at the moment. He could only try to close off his mind to the pain and attempt to rise again.

Melethia saw the Mogalls after she defeated some of the Mauthe Doogs. "Oh come on!" She yelled, "I can't do hand-to-hand combat with floating eyeballs! Someone give me a tome!"

Rhys wasn't quite as fortunate as Renault.

"Mogalls--? Magic-based? Well, I shouldn't have any problem with these things, then. Stay close to me, and--YAAAAAAAAAAARRRGH!!"

Rhys fell to the ground, screaming and clutching his head in agony.
"Grrfh! Argh! W-what IS this!?"

Rhys writed all around in the snow, uncaring as to how much snow got inside his robes. ANY form of cold would be better than this pain, but it seemed as though nothing was helping! Just... DARKNESS.

No, wait.

The pain was tugging at his consciousness.

(...Blast.)

Soren stared at the bishop momentarily, then issued a soft chuckle.

"A-ah, how deaf I've been," the mage remarked. He winced, though not without countering it by a forced smirk. "Again, I thank..."

The amusement departed Soren's face when he sensed strong magical entities nearby. Perhaps it was just one entity accompanied by many weaker ones, but it sent his heart into turmoil. Hopelessness faded into existence on Soren's face, his arms trembling from blood loss and the penetrating cold.

"...F-Father Renault," Soren said, shivering, "I am of no use here, allow me to leave so that I may not burd — Father Renault!"

He realized the bishop's knees had buckled and they were both soon in the snow. Soren yelped from the pain that shot through his arms and ankles. It was cold...far too cold to be natural...

Ominous dread ate at the back of the mage's head as he attempted to support himself, his gut wrenching with sudden fear. Soren glanced their surroundings although he only sighted the Mogalls and the defenders. He attempted to find the source of the aura he was sensing. It was, to him, devoid of anything, any source of life or emotion.

"Father Renault, what happened?" Soren urged as he tried to push himself up. His eyes, tinted by paranoia, examined the landscape once again for that mind-boggling presence or lack of. "What's going on? What...is that?"

He was asking too many questions. The mage bit his tongue with hatred and indignation. Nearby he heard Rhys exclaim and fall as well. Soren trembled madly, helpless and completely useless.

Ganon Firenight
Tibarn's cry, the unearthly, enraged screech of a bird of prey, cleaved in twain the sounds of snarling wolves. There was no way they could be distracted from their easy prey by Sue, no... they ignored her minor threat, and two instead leaped at Ayra, claws bared, jaws open.

A rush of wind passed over Ayra as her lover, faster in the air than any earthbound creature could match, snatched a beast in each talon mid-jump, and slammed them both to the ground, crushing and snapping their necks as he turned and glared at the others. He spread his wings wide, puffing up his body and screeching again as he hopped toward them on bloodstained talons.

The two remaining decided they could find easier prey back by Sue, and bolted.

A second later, Tibarn resumed his laguz form and ran to Ayra's side to support her. "Baby, oh, goddess, tell me you're alright..." Despite the freshly falling snow, Tibarn immediately removed his heavy, warm coat and wrapped it around Ayra, leaving his muscular upper body exposed to the cold. "Come on, hon," he murmured, glancing back at the three dead dogs. "Let's get you inside somewhere, it's not safe..." Whether or not she chose to protest, he immediately began to usher her toward the nearest house.

There was something to be said about the warcry of a hawk- a fiendish, aggressive noise that both brought fear and hope into her body. Ayra recognized it well enough, but when embedded with such fury... she had only heard it once before. To hear it again, right alongside the sound of snapping bones... it was unnerving, but flooded her with relief. When he ran to her, she held onto him, and watched his back for a split second.

Though she liked his warmth and support, she would not let him die because she was feeling to selfish to look out for him.

Confident that he was safe, Ayra leaned against him as she accepted the cloak, looking up with a touch of concern. She knew he was hardy, but with warm weather, not cold. Staying close to him so that he could at least feel some warmth- albeit, not much- the swordswoman looked up a bit in protest. Already, she knew she was being guided, but she made sure her protests were verbal only.

As much as it hurt her pride, she knew that she was useless as a lame mule on the battlefield.

"Hey. You're not expecting me to just... just..."

But the protests died quickly.

She did not see the Mogalls that attacked those behind her, merely trying to drown out the monsters' cries. All she could do was get herself to safety.

Ed glanced left and right, realizing that panic had scattered some of her allies. She did not comprehend why. Sure, these were floating eyeballs, but hadn't they dealt with worse?

Ed charged through the snow, a black mass of fur and ferality, and she raced right through a Mogall's attack, driving her fangs into its pupil! Take that!

She jumped off the Mogall and glanced over the challengers. She grinned a wolf's grin, wagging her tail, which was a bit unlike the natural wolf.

Pain flooded the bishop's features, but he gritted his teeth and bore it as well as he could, his training as a mercenary having given him more resistance than Rhys had as a healer. He managed to remove his arm from Soren, then turn onto his back so as to fall in a position cushioned by his cloak. "Staff-" he managed, jerking his head towards the Warp staff he had dropped when he fell. Soren could use it, couldn't he? Sages should be able to use them. . . if he remembered correctly.

". . . Use. . . it. Dark magic. . ." The man's eyes slipped shut, and his breathing became shallower as he forced himself to stay awake. Sleeping in the snow was never a good idea in the best of times. . . "G-go!" A harsh grating sound came from his mouth; the sound of teeth grinding together, as another wave of pain flashed through his head. If the person would only move further away. . .

Melethia ran as fast as she could. She needed to get a tome quick. She knew if the dark magic got it it would be bad. Running as fast as she could....untill she tripped. She looked to see what she had tripped on. She screamed when she saw she had tripped on Rhys.

"Rhys!?" She asked him. "You ok!?"

Amelia whirled around as Rhys' words cut away to screaming. "Rhys!" she yelled, fumbling her lance. The orange-haired priest thrashed in the snow, screaming in pain. She looked over at the Mogalls in panic, then back at Rhys. Was one of them using one of their spells on him?

"Rhys!" Amelia threw down the lance, fell to her knees, and shook him in concern, holding his upper body off of the snow. No, wait. That wasn't going to help get rid of mental pain. She didn't know what to do, but he was hurt, and... and... Dammit! Dammit!

"Rhys! Wake up!" It was all the Fire Dragon could shout, still consistently scouting for and scathing any Mogall that approached, despite his concern for the bishop. What was happening to the clergy?

The other healers managed to pass through the sudden horrid sensation relatively unscathed; all of them had not yet achieved the mastery of priesthood that Rhys had and evaded the worst of the distortions for that reason.

(Jin and the other priests are still around, as are the NPC soldiers. I g2g, but I'll be back later!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and feel free to use the priests as you see fit, Jin included. Those who don't know, Jin is actually one of my FE OCs from FETO, dubbed "The Masked Priest" because he always wears an assassin's mask around his head. He's an okay guy, however.)

Soren could only gawk. Now even Father Renault was incapable of fighting. As though frightened into his place, Soren obediently slinked away from Renault, wincing as he limped for the Warp staff. He certainly knew how to use one. That was a blessing he would have to thank later.

Soren's fingers closed around the Warp staff and his body was wracked with a violent shudder. His mind was clouded, his eyesight vague. The mage began to understand why Renault had collapsed, though he did not comprehend the source one bit. Soren limped back to the bishop.

He glanced toward the defenders with shame written across his face and blood scrawled across his robes.

"F-forgive us," he muttered.

" User Image "

The Warp staff emitted a soft glow. The spirits of teleportation gathered around Soren and Renault, taking them to the first place Soren had carelessly considered.

The spirits delivered them to a room within FEF Castle.

"Rhys! Wake up!!" Nils stood helplessly. All he could do is call his name and plea for him to wake up. The words meant nothing, though.
His words couldn't wake up the unconscious.
