Ian sighed, looking out the window.
"Basement or no basement, Sheila, we're going to have to go into the mall sometime." he said, looking over at Missy.
"Even if we weren't seen by the hordes outside...remember the threat inside. Hard as it may be, I think the best course of action is to take out everyone inside and barricade the doors up, with more of a barricade on the hard to defend doors, and some sort of alarm mechanism."
He looked around the diner again.
"And I think I can make that alarm mechanism, given the right parts..." he said, examining the jukebox in the corner.
Edit:
Ian looked over at Virgil. "Right, mate, I'll help you out." he said, standing slowly and walking over to him. "What is it we need to lock down?"
[I'm out as well, cya guys later.]

Jeez, it gets damn dark early in these months...
Standing a sentinel being silhouetted against the setting sun, the young pipe-wielder surveyed the street below her in deep concentration, eyes searching to catch a glimpse of movement like a cougar ready to strike on weak prey. Noting a clear coast, she gingerly descended a rusty fire escape, bare feet making little noise on the creaky rungs. Shifting her weight quietly onto the balls of her feet, she made no noise as, like a descending mist, she stole along the street, arms out for balance. Pausing suddenly at an unfamiliar noise, her spine froze in its bent position, every muscle tensing to concrete. What was that? It stirred something deep within the recesses of her mind underneath the thick animal instincts that clouded her reason. What... what was that? A memory, quiet in the caverns of her mind, spoke forth:
Human conversation.
And not the generic groaning of infected zombies, or the harsh barking of the stronger zombies, but actual conversing! Pricking her ears, the muscles working behind them to shift them forward to catch more of the speech, she barely caught: 'threat inside... barricade the doors... defend... mate, I'll help... down?'
Australian accent. When did she remember that? Stealing forward, she knelt closer to the moist streets, hands against the receptive stone, craning her neck around the corner. The next thing she did would have to the least weirded a normal person out- a single eye began to slowly migrate up her forehead, slowly traversing out from her skull on a stalk to peer around the street corner and into the next one from where the voice came. It blinked once, returned to its owner, and returned to the default position just above her cheekbones.
Humans! Seemingly unaffected ones! What a find!
Would they put up more of a fight than the zombie clones? Would their skulls be easier or harder to smash?
Pursing her lips together in a pensive caricature of a thoughtful expression, the strange pipe-girl thought a moment. What a conundrum.

"Barricading is my specilty and i can get the parts for an alarming system, just tell me what you need and ill get it." Missy pushed herself from the wall, unlit the cigar with her thoughts, and put the cigar behind her ear. "I will also help with locking down." She added while walking over to him. She was getting tired and need some rest but helping others was her was her weakness.

They asked what was needed to lock down. "Alright, just make sure the windows aren't going to cave in during the night, and that the doors stay closed. Virgil explained, pointing out each item in turn. He went over to the jukebox, and turned off the music.

As per habit, Virgil using his mind powers to quickly scan the area around, and brushed upon something...different. It was...odd. It wasn't thinking like the other humans around. It was almost...alien.

And it seemed hostile.

To take extra precaution, he went up to the door's crawlspace, and locked it shut with a set of cinderblocks. "Feel Free to crash anywhere when you're done. It's open house tonight."

Ian went to work, quickly locking down some of the windows, and checking the locks on the doors.
"Windows and such are fine." Ian reported, looking around the diner.
"I'm a regular ol' night owl, so I'll probably be awake for a few more hours." he added, sitting cross legged on the counter next to his SKS.
"Y'all get yourselves some shut-eye." he said after a minute. He looked outside the door. The undead didn't seem to bother with the diner, yet.
"Oh, and Sheila?" he said, looking at Missy. "I'll get you a list of parts for the alarm system tomorrow. And don't worry 'bout a thing. So long as I'm on watch, you're going to be safe, and I'm no rapist." he said, pulling out the dirty rag from his belt pouch.
He started to clean his rifle, illuminating some harder to see areas with spot lighting courtesy of his powers.

Missy walked over to the windows and made roots seal them shut. Then proceded to do the same with the door. She laughed at Ian. "I know you arent and i no longer feel threatened. Sorry that i doubled your locking. Plus it has been a while since i have been able to use my power with out drawing to much attention." Missy said to him. She walked over to Virgil and place a hand on his sholder. "Thank you for opening your home to us. Its a kind thing to do." Missy said in a voice that would break even the coldest mans heart. For so long she had been an out cast but now she felt like she belonged. She was no longer afarid.

Missy stired in her sleep. She was dreaming of how things use to be but then it became dark and she was 10 again. She woke up with a gasp and huged her knees to her chest. She shead a silent tear and sat there clearing her head of all thoughts.

Ian had dozed off, slumped over his rifle on the counter.
He grunted as soon as he heard Kaz's voice.
"Eh?" he said groggily. "Oh, yeah." he said, hopping quietly off the counter.
"Nah, mate, it's been quiet enough..." he added, walking over in the darkness one of the few remaining bench seats.
He tossed his rifle on the table and stretched out on the bench.
He heard a gasp off to his right side. Distinctly female.
"Hey, Sheila, it's just me." he said quietly. "Kaz switched watch with me, nothing to be afraid of. Need a nightlight or something?" he added, sticking his hand up over the edge of the booth and causing the tip of his fingers to glow faintly.

Ian moved his fingers around to be able to see the jacket as it landed.
"Thanks, mate." he said, folding it into a square shaped and sticking it under his head.
"First time I've had to sleep like a swaggie." he mumbled to himself, turning over so his back was on the back of the bench.
Within a few minutes, he was back fast asleep.

Missy got up and covered Ian with the blanket she was using. She walked over to Kaz and sat on the table. "Does it ever get annoying? I mean hearing what everyone is thinking and never having a moment to yourself." Missy asked Kaz. She pulled her legs up on the table and crossed them. She looked around the room and smiled. This is one wierd family type thing. She thought and laughed to herself.

Oblivious to this all Thestalon carried on dreaming.
He stood in the desert all alone. He looks up at the sun shielding his eyes from the glare. He stands there for a while and then decides to move forwards. He carried on for hours on end until he gave up. But suddenly. The ground began to shake. Huge holes in the sand appeared. Human fists with arms burst out of the ground and lumbered there like giant pillars. Thestalon walked over to one and cautiously touched it. The hand turned around seemingly to observe him leaned closer to him then raised itself up. Then pummelled him.
Thestalon woke with heavy breaths and a scared look on his face and shakily said, "anything new.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:25 pm

Missy heard the heavy breathing and got up off the table. We will talk later She thought toward Kaz. She walked over to Thestalon and put a hand on his sholder. "Its ok. Notthing new has happened." Missy said in a reasuring voice. "Do you want to talk about your dream?" She said while sitting next to him. "Im a great listener and i dont pass judgement." She added.

[Anyone feel like timeskipping the night a little?]
-----
Ian too was dead asleep, in the midst of his own dream.
A pair of legs stuck out from under a navy blue Holden WB ute. Ian was under it busy fixing the transmission. A hand slapped the hood.
"Hey, ya mug." a voice said, and a girl squatted next to the hood, looking down at him. "How's it hanging?"
"Damn transmissions corked it." Ian said. The girl kicked his leg lightly. "Move over, lemme see it..."

The voice trailed off as a bit of light hit Ian in his sleep.
He blinked a bit, groaning.
He stuck his head up, looking out the window a little. He was surprised when a blanket slid off him. He looked over at Missy, grinned to himself, and went back to sleep.
