"That may be so," She said, keeping her voice low to prevent their conversation from reaching others, "But I know you now, don't I? And I still was to train to become a shirabyoshi." She stuck out her bottom lip, intent on showing him just how stubborn she could be. No, no matter what he said to her, Atsuko had decided that she would not budge.
She stuck her lip out even further at Reizei's reply. "But onii-sama, if you've had everything you've ever wanted, then you can't sympathize with how I feel about this matter." Tearing her attention away from the dancers, she turned to face the emperor, a defiant light in her gray eyes. She put her hands on her hips and looked up at him.
"Isn't there anything that you want? Think of something right now, and work to get it on your own."

Reizei was as stubborn as a mule himself, but he knew when to give room for compromise. He could tell this was going to take more convincing than just one conversation. He made a small sound of annoyance deep in his throat. "Foolish, Atsuko-chan."
"It's hardly the emperor's job to sympathize with a little girl, is it?" Reizei muttered, his lips tight. He himself was trying not to openly pout; he had to act like the adult here! He watched Atsuko, unhappy that they were now facing off over the matter. Anyone else would have done as he'd said!
"I want you to listen to me!" The emperor declared none-too-childishly as he glared down at the little girl. What was she actually even talking about?
