((Ballroom | Both))
David allowed a small smirk to creep onto his features as he finished the song with a twirl that threw the young lady outwards and then pulled her back in, very closely he should add. Whispering onto her neck, he purred, "Well then, allow this gentleman to give you back your freedom. It was a pleasure dancing with such a lovely lady such as yourself."
Stepping away, David then bowed and shot Graficcha a playful wink before strolling over to the food bar, where he desperately wanted some...refreshment..? David couldn't help but let out a mischievous chuckle as his eyes locked onto the familiar but blushing face of Anita.
"My, oh my," he murmured to himself, eyeing the poor girl up and down. The screaming red shirt and skirt set seemed much more festive than the other women's but was still just as appealing. Walking on over to the newly attired acquaintance, his smile grew and grew until he was beside her, leaning by her ear and laughing, "I thought I told you black makes you look sexy. Not peppermint stripes."
That's when David raised his eyes to see the other miss whom Anita had been conversing with. Perfect. He shot Ebony a wink but then kept his attention all on the crimson coated youth beside him.
- - - - - - Namini felt a small wave of heat wash over her cheeks at the contact between the friends' hands, but why she was suddenly so shy was unknown to her. She nodded to Josh in understanding before mewing, "Promise?" as if to give her first dance with the stranger was unspeakable. But then again, Namini caught herself, nodded again, and then flashed a smile at Ravij.
"Shall we?"

LuLu’s delicate ears tickled along the back of the woman’s neck. The petite raevan was enjoying her new shield. This one seemed to understand the idea that she want to get away from that slobbering blue ogre. LuLu snuggled weakly into Bridget’s back and nodded. LuLu’s voice broke into a faint squeak, “Yes.” She peeked at Balamb once more, just in time to see a tiny azure hand stuck knuckle deep into his mouth; a thin layer of slick drool was seeping onto his sleeve and running down his chubby fingers. LuLu crinkled her nose in disgust. She wanted to leave…. NOW. Her slim fingers clutched onto the woman’s dress and her head nodded faster. The raevan’s voice picked up a new fervor, “Y-yes.” She began to float towards Josh… and freedom.
~~~~~
Josh smirked at the flustered girl, "Of course." He watched the couple as they walked to the handsomely decorated dance floor. His gaze seemed to be trained more on Namini's familiar form. His smile broadened. She really did look like a princess tonight.
(( Ballroom, food table ))
Once more unsure of her standing with the passing time, Chris decided to head over to the one place where she could find sure distraction--the food table. Doing her best to avoid the dancers and keeping to wall, Chris arrived a few moments later--only to find the area was already occupied by numerous individuals. Normally, this amount of people would have sent her packing, but with the otter cub on her back and the heavenly array before her, she decided to stay. Surveying the food, her eyes lit up when she saw the sushi tray, but there was the slight problem of it being block by a girl in a rather.... bright red dress. Chris had wondered when she first came in if not wearing a dress had been the right thing to do, but now she was just glad that she hadn't had to come in that outfit; she would have looked like a fool in that thing. So Chris waited, caught between not wanting to tell the other person to move, and wanting that delectable food....
Graficcha cut loose from David with a smile, taking half a minute to not appear too eager to investigate, then couldn't contain herself anymore and drifted over to the place where a few of her interests had converged.
She settled nearby, then swiftly covered the last distance as if acting on a whim instead of targeted intention.
Hovering nearby, she peeked over at Balamb, blinked at LuLu's antics and her reaction over that little candid cutiepie. Stifling a giggle, she watched the Raevan leave. Ohoho, how easily pushed into squeamishness she was. What a refreshing lass.... the people here better not dicomfort her too much.
Graf herself could appreciate the cute-factor of that little 'blue ogre', and was looking at him and his guardian with twinkling eyes from a few feet away.
Perhaps the other hadn’t heard her or perhaps David’s interruption had been something very hard to ignore for the racy dressed girl, which Ebony could understand and forgive to an extent. It was beginning to be pretty obvious that when that man wanted to be the center of attention, he would be if he had to physically make another look at him. At least, that’s what this little bit of show said to the British female. She didn’t really care much for being the one with all the eyes on her, especially for long periods of time, it always made her uncomfortable. So she would gladly concede it to both the younger female and the princely attired Asian.
Being so close, she could not help, but over hear what it was that the man said to the other. Ah, so he already knew this one. Was she possibly one of his ‘clients?’ That was a bit unlikely in this setting, yet you never knew. Course she maybe more of his victim than anything, especially dressed like that. She couldn’t help thinking, ‘Poor girl.’
Grey eyes did not miss the sly wink either that he’d aimed deliberately towards her before sliding his attention right back to the girl. If Ebony didn’t know any better, she could swear that David was trying to make her jealous as she’d seen many a women use that exact same tactic on their crushes. Was that possible? Well, anything was possible, but luckily with her earlier humiliation past, Ebony was back in control of herself, those multitudes of emotion now tucked safely behind her cold mask of indifference once more.
Though she would not play his game, she wouldn’t be rude either, thus the purple haired woman gave a quick smile to David, yet it wasn’t one could feel was genuine or warm. Very carefully, Ebony ran gloved fingers through her hair in an attempt to cast a dark veil between her and the two. She wouldn’t give them any more attention now unless they directly addressed her. She could have just moved, but felt that would allow David to win somehow, not as if she was playing any of his games. Besides, she had been here first and had no reason to be moved from her spot. Quietly, she sipped her punch and watched the rest of the room.
A fool was exactly what she thought of herself for even bothering renting this thing. It was attention getting and that was the exact opposite of what she wanted, especially from the certain some one whispering in her ear. Now she felt rude, not being able to properly respond to the woman next to her, so as David had turned his head to wink, she, too, turned her head to offer an apologetic smile and brief nod to the question of enjoying herself.
At least, she had been.
Clearing her throat, Anita picked up a glass of eggnog with no further motivation to beat around the bush with herself about trying it and stepped back slightly from the table. It unintentionally freed up a spot in front of her for anyone that had wanted the food there.
Despite her dark hair covering her cheeks, the rise in color was still easy to spot. It was that damned light skill of hers, pale but clear... and now tinted pink. She kept her eyes clear of David's, not wanting to somehow give him the upper hand, "I didn't dress this way for you, doctor," as calmly as she could, she took a sip of the eggnog. Nutmeg. "But you don't look much like a doctor today..." a joke about their previous, most recent meeting.
[[ Ballroom/Mistletoe Table ]]
Looks like they had scared off another interesting person. Well - Balamb had anyway. A little blue, drooly orge indeed! Bridget sighed and smiled ruefully.
"Get yer hand out of your mouth. Are you hungry did you want to eat your hand?" Bridget was tainted exasperated. She turned and saw Graficcha, and smiled. There was one person slightly interested or didn't mind the newt-babe. He took out his hand and smiled a large smile with his only two front teeth showing and eyes crinkling into happy slits.
"Yum. My want food Mama!" He bounced a little then noticed another person and he became shy again. "Herro..."
"Hello miss, I'm Bridget and this is Balamb," the guardian introduced as casually as the possibility could in the Gaian world while holding the squirmy shy semi-human toddler.
Graficcha's first reaction was to shy back, but she overcame that quickly and nodded. "...hello." Eep, little smile. "... nice to meet you, miss Bridget. I'm.. Graf. Graficcha." She wasn't deterred at all by the child-enforced tussly protocol-breach, and leaned down slightly to get level with the youngling. ".. hello Balamb." ^^ oooh, she's smitten already, what a sweet little rascal.
Aawww he little thing was hungry! Maybe they should go and have dinner, tsh.
[[ Ballroom/Mistletoe Table - Dining Area ]]
"I don't suppose you'd like to join us? Are you hungry as well?" Heck why not crawl out a limb and invite a total stranger to dine? Strike that - a stranger named Graficcha. It was one step in the doorway to making friends. Balamb wasn't the only one needing a circle of friends.
Bridget smiled warmly, "We'll be just going over there. It would be awfully nice of you to watch him while I get a plate for him? He won't bite."
"My not. Cahnnie do," He agreed. Mmm, that little daemon wouldn't put it past herself that if to bite was a good thing for her to do, she would do it. "Food now?"
She slowly ambled over still slightly taking in all the sights and sounds of the whole place and found a still empty table nearest to the food buffet table as close she could. The chairs were deffinetly not the right size for him of course, well she would have to make do. She looked around shyly for a server of sorts to perhaps get her a high chair for the newt boy. If worse came to worse Balamb would just have to eat on her lap. That wouldn't be too bad. The little bag she carried wouldn't work for him sitting on it, anyway.
((Ballroom | David))
David's lips curled into a satisfied grin as he took in Ebony's smile, though brief and cold as it may be. A reaction was still a reaction, and a smile always represented some kind of positive feedback. At least, in his eyes. But returning those gluttonous orbs back to his brightly attired companion, he let out a small laugh at her comment and placed a tender hand carefully on one of her shoulders, "But of course not. Tonight, you have come dressed like a sexy Mrs. Claus in hopes of catching the attention of some lucky fellow to be your youthful Santa, offering you affectionate gifts and mistletoe joy, while I have come, dressed, not like a doctor, for that would lead me to attract the bloodied and pained, but like a charming prince, in hopes that I could rescue a beautiful princess before the night is over. "
He loved to watch the young girl squirm but what intrigued him more was the unpredictability of the violet-haired woman sitting across from them. He had to go on.
"And Ebony here has come dressed to the nines, in hopes of finding a ten out of ten to match her perfectly. Am I right, my kitten?" David purred, his eyes mocking the woman as he recalled their last evening encounter. If his assumptions were right, she'd take the bait and allow him some more game time.
Oh, of course, only logical. Heehee.
"I'd love to join you two." Graficcha looked up at her again, eyes full of smiles and twinkles. She followed the woman's lead in a calm stride, how odd. All this blending in was working miraculously well.
"Ah, sure I'll look after him for a bit. Can't leave such a small diddle all alone on a big table hm." Once they got to the table in question, she also found herself examining the chairs. "Attah, he'll barely peek over the edge with the chairs that low.. we could..." she glanced around, didn't immediately spy anything that might help though. The Raevans never had this particular sort of problem; what with the floating. "Nah. If you and he don't mind I could take him on my lap." Nice an' cosy, and wouldn't require fussing around.
She raised a slender brow at the man, her ear perking at the sound of her name. Her obvious attempt at trying to ignore him and his peppermint pal was dismissed and cast aside as if she’d not turned away from them at all. The woman shouldn’t answer, simply should walk away and ignore him further, but that girl was looking between the two of them with such doeful like curiosity. Perhaps she should not be rude, if only for the girl.
The hair she’d allowed to drape delicately to the side of her face earlier was automatically tucked back behind her ear, careful of the mistletoe that now hung there in place of her previous poinsettia, to allow better view of the other two. The British woman would not address David’s question, yet would simply roll her gray orbs at the comment. Stretching one gloved hand towards Anita, “Obviously I’m Ebony, Ebony Shade. And you are?”
[[Top of the Stairs/Ballroom]]
Niksia gathered her courage, and her skirt, so she could make her way down the stairs. As she stalked her way down carefully her mind ticked over with when she had last worn a dress as long as this one, if she ever had. At the bottom of the stairs she glanced quietly around the room. It was big and well decorated for the season, causing the nervous redhead to gawk briefly as she tried to take everything in. Hidden shoes clicking from under her dress, Niksia crossed the big room in an effort to find a face she recognized.
"Thanks much!" Bridget gushed bushing a free hand on the other young woman's arm and a passing Hollywood kiss on each cheek, "I'll get you a plate too. You think on what you'd like while I get his for now." She handed Balamb to Graf gently. His eyes widened for a moment since he was virtually never held by anyone else but his guardian.
"M-muh?" He burbled confusedly, "Herroo?" Bridget grinned and rather noisily kissed him on the cheek for the second time in the night.
She pranced up and gathered a good smattering of fruits and vegitables for Balamb. She even tried to house some quiche and appitizers that he would eat. He wasn't a meat eater yet, but she was trying to get him to eat any if at all possible. She got some clams casino. Maybe she could trick him...
Graf made a squeaky face at the ravish social contact and almost turtlenecked back, but hey... this wasn't so bad. She nodded in response, and when the woman handed over her precious little charge, she took him into her arms carefully.
The stalker-in-public watched hr go with a smile, then peeked at Balamb. "Hello there. Having fun a little?" she asked him warmly, holding him in a safe and solid position. You're safe here lil'un, I've had a little brother and sister back in the day, and I won't drop you, nya.
While she waited for his reply, if he understood her question, she glanced at his guardian, keeping an eye on her relaxedly. She started thinking about anything she might want from the various edible goods available here, and noted the relative amount of non-meats Bridget was assembling for the little one.
