But then again, should someone with human proportions become that large, what would stop 'em from collapsing in their own gravity well? After all, any object with that sort of mass would create a HUGE amount of gravitational pull. Think, um, black hole.
don't ruin the mood... stare we'd just say a wizard did it! xd
so... Zion... unless you wanna be known as the mood-killer... i suggest you lighten up razz

Agh! Such an attitude is a pet-peeve of mine! To simply assume mystical aspects with no regard for the orderly laws of physics, which allow us to survive in a logical and sensible universe, is absolutely reprehensible!

I'm not a mood-killer, I simply ask that people put thought into things, rather than unhindered imagination. Of course, I cannot technically stop people from doing so. I just have some OCD-related need for things to make sense.

Not a mood killer as much as not a very flexible person. You will make others change how they think of things to fit what you want. Instead of letting others simply create what they want and bending your imagination for them. Everything doesn't always need to make sense and sometimes not everyone whats everything to make sense, its part of the mystery and mystical qualities of fantasy.

Yes, but to ignore the laws of physics is to invite chaos. If you ignore gravity, then the sun cannot hold itself together, nor can the planets, and mass could not exist, especially when the Einsteinian gravitational theory is considered, since gravity is a result of matter's existence itself.

I'm not saying you can't be flexible. I'm just saying you need to make it sensible. You can't just say "well, it's magic, it needs no explanation". If anything, that signifies a LACK of imagination!

Also, it's funny you called me inflexible. I know you did not mean in a physical sense, but it's funny, since I'm a contortionist.

EDIT: And as to the insinuation that I am demanding of others, I'll have you know that to avoid this problem, I have often offered my own psuedo-scientific explanations in order to help them. Of course, I think you know that. I realize that everyone has their talents, and not everyone's is science. I don't demand that they need such knowledge in order to write or create, but in order to avoid problems, I offer my own help.

You are only proving my point. You can't let others create a world with its own rules. Only the rules that you want will work. If you say it can happen and you can explain it, it can happen other wise it can't. If I say a crystal exists that bend reality and it was not governed by our laws of reality you would have a problem with it and change it. You would say it just couldn't happen or give your own reason for how it does things. Even if its not what I said it does or how I want it to work. By giving your 'help' you make it yours and of your design so that you understand it, but what if I don't want to understand it? what if I don't want anyone to understand it? what if I want it to be unhindered, undefined, unexplainable, what if I want it to be magic?

Then you are free to do so. Just don't expect my support in it. It's not that I don't allow it. Hence the word "offer", rather than the word "force". I don't make it my design. If you remember, I worked hard to accommodate your own idea in your RP, not mine. I suppose that's just some foolish assumption of mine that people don't want utter nonsense in the things they write. Because, you see, once you invite that, once you agree to the idea of lawlessness, you invite things like godmoding, poor storytelling, etc.

There is, of course, the limits of possible body size of humans... I'm told that the tallest a human can get is 50ft before the spine gets too weak to support the weight. I got it from a book that was talking about comic books, and there was a section on a certain comic that stated that as fact, which in itself was showing how comic books can be factual.

That would be the square-cube law. As volume cubes, surface area squares.

I'm not against "fantasy". Just chaotic, unexplainable, unintelligent fantasy.

Your missing the point. By saying this is chaos or nonsense that is you saying no bad idea. You think that it can't be or if it will be, it only brings bad things. Why would it bring godmodding or poor storying telling? If I say a Nuke was going to destroy a town, but then replaced it with a strange magical gem it doesn't make the situation any different. It just creates a different atmosphere. The nuke based in reatlity and the gem based in fantasy. If I say the magic lord of Arokon came down from the dark heavens on a horse of death and destruction. Then with a single magical word and move of the hands decimated the city of Altan'ia. How is this any worse then describing that a plane flew over and dropped the H-bomb and did the same thing? You just think that if its not explained that it must be all powerful. And I never said lawlessness I said I would make my own laws and if those laws are what I say they are this does not void all of them. There are simply new laws, the laws that I say there are. Its you who believes this means that no laws exist after. I'm not sure why this is? A world always has laws, but I'm just creating new ones and throwing out some I don't want in my world. I never said I don't want any. Does this mean you condemn all fantasy books and movies every made as terrible?

Also when you PMed me about that RP I kept giving you my reason, but you wouldn't accept it. I said over and over that it was an advanced tech that could allow for imposable things to happen, but you wouldn't accept that response.

Well the good news is that this reality/fantasy debate is keeping the guild alive. Now to combine the best aspects of each side, use those ideas to advance the guilds original purpose and prosper.

I'm sorry, but that post just reminded me of Spock's famous phrase: "Live long and prosper". XD

I am... CorruptHalf, though I guess that was pretty useless of me to say since my username can be seen above my avatar...

Introductions aren't really my strong side, and I most likely won't be active much(mostly because I'm being sent to military training pretty soon now), but hopefully I won't disappoint or unintentionally insult anyone...

Then we seem to have a misunderstanding. Creating your own laws is fine. I do it all the time. I was under the impression you meant something completely unexplained. See, I'm all for bending the laws of physics, or coming up with little loopholes or something. I'm just not for breaking them completely, or creating some deus ex machina that is totally without limits or reason.

And, if you remember, the explanation I came up with was exceptionally "advanced" compared to today's science, and probably impossible in real life. Most of my explanations are.
